P
assword: imagination. Fashion often arises from an unexpected encounter: between elegance and extravagance, nature and artifice, familiar places and worlds yet to be discovered. In this issue of LATEST, we explore diverse settings and moods, from the timeless charm of a castle to the colors of snow, all the way to the vibrant streets of Marrakech. The beauty editorials, meanwhile, take us on a journey through transformations, instinct, and visions of a future imagined yesterday. What ties these stories together is the desire to look beyond conventions, allowing eccentric details, new forms, and unexpected references to open up different possibilities. Even seasonal trends become tools for self-expression: bold accessories, silhouettes waiting to be reinvented, and timeless beauty looks all tell the story of a personal style that’s free to change. Fashion offers us endless possibilities to express ourselves, experiment, and discover—season after season—new versions of ourselves. Hidden from the world, within a vast castle seemingly frozen in time, a woman lives alone. Her days dissolve into one another, suspended in an almost perpetual silence. To escape the monotony, she invents a ritual: each day, she becomes someone new through the clothes she wears. She slips into an evening gown to wander through deserted salons or bathe in the light-filled orangery of her castle. There is no audience, no special occasion, no one to impress. She dresses for no one but herself, turning solitude into a private stage where imagination can run free. Getting dressed becomes an act of escape, a way to protect her inner world, nurture her fantasies and hold on to herself. Against the stillness of the castle, the exuberance of her wardrobe creates a quiet, poetic tension. The rooms remain motionless, steeped in the weight of another time, while her clothes bring them to life, filling the empty spaces with colour, character and possibility. In a world where loneliness is becoming increasingly familiar, she, too, is alone. Yet within these silent walls, she continues to reinvent herself, finding in the simple act of dressing a way to feel alive.

at the Edge At the edge between landscape and fashion, winter takes a bolder direction. Against the snow, among enveloping silhouettes and cool tones, accessories are what break the silence: sculptural bags, statement shoes, bold hats and oversized sunglasses bring colour and character to even the whitest days. This season invites us to be daring, turning details into protagonists and every look into a statement of personality.

The Triumph of Personality Who said there is no room for imagination during the winter season? This year, the dialogue between memories of the past and contemporary style brings together retro references, statement-making volumes, and sophisticated details. Versatile pieces, yes, but with a strong personality and the authority of a true statement piece, such as the zip-up cardigan, worn slightly open and layered with fluid skirts, denim, and statement accessories. Silhouettes, too, become fluid and take on a variety of shapes: cocoon coats introduce oversized and unconventional volumes, transforming the space occupied by the fabric into a true decorative element. At the same time, a preppy aesthetic is reinterpreted through the pairing of Bermuda shorts and knee-high socks, combined with tailored outerwear, knitwear, and traditional footwear. In sharp contrast to the softer shades and cold-weather staples (such as browns, bottle green, burgundy, and black) bright red emerges as an impactful color across dresses, coats, trousers, and accessories. The return to the fashion archives continues with references to the 1950s and the 1980s–’90s, translated into trenches with updated proportions, velvet mini dresses, long gloves, pencil skirts, pumps, sensual details, lace, and sheer fabrics. Among the decorative elements, fur collars stand out, used to enhance jackets, denim, and tailored pieces with a theatrical and sophisticated touch. At the same time, faux fur and shearling offer a new interpretation of winter luxury, favoring enveloping volumes and soft, tactile surfaces. Overall, the Fall-Winter 2026/27 fashion trends create an aesthetic rich in contrasts, where rigor and decoration, nostalgia and modernity, minimalism and theatricality coexist through voluminous silhouettes, intense colors, tactile materials, and accessories capable of breathing new life into every look—officially marking the end of the era of quiet minimalism.

1. Bermuda shorts and knee-high socks are one of the season’s most interesting combinations, playing with the contrast between summery proportions and quintessentially winter details. Bermuda shorts, whether wide-legged or tailored, are paired with high socks that immediately capture attention, worn with loafers, ballet flats, or more assertive footwear. The result is a relaxed yet extremely sophisticated aesthetic, thanks to the bold impact of layering and the interplay of contrasting textures and materials. Our favorite combinations: Comme Si cashmere socks and RÙADH denim shorts.

Canvas Marrakech There are places we visit, and places that somehow change the way we see the world. Marrakech is a tapestry of colours, architecture, gestures and traditions that invites us to get lost and allow ourselves to be surprised. Travelling towards cultures far removed from our own means learning to listen to what we do not yet know, embracing new perspectives and discovering how much beauty exists beyond what feels familiar. It is a kind of richness that cannot be wrapped or bought: the kind we carry with us when we return home.

Skin Preservation and
AI Editorial IA inspired by seasonal beauty trends Photography & Art Direction Marta Forgione Words Martina Tondo
Expressive Make-up The new beauty season opens by establishing one fundamental rule: make-up is becoming expressive again without losing the awareness around enhancing the complexion that has defined recent years. After the minimalism of the clean girl aesthetic, the almost bare complexion and the obsession with invisible perfection, the face is once again taking centre stage, not through layers of product or excessive coverage, but through sophisticated textures, plays of light, colour and deliberately less controlled gestures. At the heart of this evolution lies skin preservation, a concept that goes beyond simple skincare to become a true beauty philosophy: preserving the quality of the skin, strengthening its barrier, and maintaining its luminosity, elasticity and natural vitality over time, because the skin itself is a key element in the expressiveness of any beauty look. Essential routines, effective formulas and greater attention to skin tolerance are becoming increasingly important. This sensibility is also reflected in make-up, where formulas are becoming increasingly hybrid and the base is no longer about erasing the skin, but enhancing it: the finish can be luminous, velvety or soft-focus, as long as the skin’s natural texture

remains visible. It is skin that wants to be seen, not concealed, and this is precisely why it is once again becoming one of the most important elements of the look. On this more cared-for and conscious canvas, colour gains a new sense of freedom: barely-there blush takes the place of rigid contouring and becomes a quick, instinctive gesture, while graphic black gives way to expressive shades of brown, khaki, olive and mineral tones, often blended with the fingers to achieve a lived-in effect. Lips, meanwhile, move between deep red, plum and berry, with sheer washes of colour. Even disorder is deliberately embraced, precisely because it is a symptom of a dishevelled beauty that has no time to fit into a perfectly defined frame and moves at the fast pace of the world’s great cities: tousled hair, slightly smudged eyeliner, lips worn away by the pressure of kisses, invisible manicures: the contemporary sleeping beauty decalogue. The result is a beauty look that is less disciplined yet more sophisticated, where preserving and enhancing the skin becomes the starting point for experimenting with make-up rich in personalised, never predictable accents: a more tactile kind of beauty, in which imperfection is not something to be corrected, but an integral part of the attitude.

MANE A mane is not meant to go unnoticed. Long, fluid and untamed, the hair becomes an extension of personality, capable of turning a simple gesture into a statement of style. Through hairstyles that enhance its texture and shapes that reinvent its movement, hair breaks free from every definition, wavering between discipline and instinct. Because sometimes, all it takes is a change in hairstyle to reveal a completely different version of ourselves.

to Mars and BACK A future imagined yesterday, rediscovered today. Through graphic geometry, almost artificial complexions and details that seem to belong to another dimension, beauty takes on the contours of a forgotten tomorrow. It is a universe suspended between vintage science fiction and dystopian visions, where promises of progress mingle with the aesthetics of a past that never stopped imagining the future. Because sooner or later, even tomorrow becomes a memory.

What if, for a moment, we learned to see the world from a perspective other than our own? Through poses that evoke animal movements and silhouettes that echo their forms and instincts, fashion becomes an exercise in transformation. To remain human also means being able to recognise ourselves in other living beings, understanding their vulnerability, their freedom and their unique way of inhabiting the world. A metamorphosis not of the body, but of the way we see.

Some rules seem made to be broken, and some identities refuse to be contained. Fashion becomes a space for protest, a language through which a new generation asserts its presence and challenges hierarchies. Aesthetics turn radical, silhouettes defy expectations, and individuality takes the place of conformity. An invitation to remain unapologetically disruptive, think freely, and never let others define who we are allowed to be.

words Martina Tondo
Confirming the shift already outlined the previous year, the role of accessories on the Fall-Winter 2026 runways appears profoundly renewed: no longer mere ornamental elements, accessories have become the cornerstones of the contemporary wardrobe and powerful tools of self-expression, capable of conveying a narrative and playing an incisive role in shaping the silhouette. They no longer simply complete an outfit, but often become its starting point, introducing contrasts, volumes and details that define the look as a whole. This creative tension is particularly evident in the contrast between functional elements, such as hands-free belt bags and sturdy over-the-knee boots, and pieces with a distinctly theatrical and maximalist character, such as oversized faux-fur headwear, elbow-length gloves and gemstone jewelry worn in layered combinations. Looks are therefore built from the ground up, with hosiery taking centre stage, from opaque tights in varying shades and richly textured styles. The same attention to geometry and detail extends to the face and the elements that frame it: from oversized eyewear, featuring bold frames and coloured lenses, to more dramatic jewelry, worn in contrasting combinations through the layering of gold and silver.

LAS OTRAS Two identical presences, a hotel frozen in time, and an elegance that conceals something enigmatic. Amid silent corridors, cinematic atmospheres and looks of almost surreal sophistication, fashion meets the dark allure of mystery. The two protagonists move like mirrored images, complicit and inscrutable. Because sometimes, the most magnetic beauty is the kind that leaves a few questions unanswered.
