While CoachellaIs all about takingIn the music,It’s undeniable that the affair has also become an opportunity to be seenIn one’s best statement ensembles. Shayk certainly views Coachella as a fashion spectacle, and the model says the festivalIs always an opportune time to think outside of the box and experiment with her style. “Coachella, for me,Is a perfect opportunity to have some extra fun with your looks, and try looks that may be a bit out of your comfort zone and that you wouldn’t get the chance to wear at other events,” says Shayk. This weekend, Shayk described her festival style as “chic, relaxed, and comfortable” with a big emphasis on pulling out vintage pieces from her own archive. “I love mixing some of my favorite designer pieces and really amazing vintage pieces, to create super unique looks,” Shayk says. “CoachellaIs a great opportunity to recycle some looks you’ve hadIn your closet for a while and mix and match themIn a new and fun way.”

Some of her personal highlights from this weekend? She paired a black leather Burberry bikini with Vivienne Westwood shoes and Rick Owens sunglasses; a colorful Versace bra top with a vintage paisley Etro skirt; or a vintage khaki Yves Saint Laurent jumpsuit with wild leopard print Versace boots. Shayk says she collects such archival pieces from stores around the world. “I love poppingInto vintage shops, whether that’sIn New York or whenI am traveling, because you really get the chance to find really unique pieces,” says Shayk. Better than playing dress up this weekend, however, was the one of a kind experience that Shayk had while doingIt. “It was just so much fun to
spend time with friends and jump around from stage to stage, to listen to all the different artists, and get lostIn the music,” says Shayk. “The atmosphere of CoachellaIs real magic and like no other!”

Ethel CainIs, self admittedly, not exactly a festival person. “I have to work myself up to even go to concerts at small venues,” the 25 year old singer songwriter jokes. In fact, her first time attending a festival (Pitchfork) was also her first time performing at one.Nonetheless, Cain, who began self releasing musicIn 2017 from Florida, has proven to be a quick study. When performing at festival crowds, Cain points out, some of the audience might be unfamiliar with your work. (Although, given the breakout success of her 2022 concept album, Preacher’s Daughter, Cain has racked up plenty of fans as of late.) For her debut Coachella performance, Cain treated the career milestone as “just having some funIn the desert with my friends,” she shared with Vogue, shortly before embarking from Los Angeles to the desertIn a “clown car full of our gear and stuff.”Among the baggage was her Weekend 1 performance look, designed by Matthew M. Williams, creative director at Givenchy. “I love how clean and simple his designs are,” Cain shares of the designer, who frequently upheld modern design principles during his tenure at the French house. “It always goes back to the lines for me. Very clean lines.”
