After 25 years in law enforcement uniforms, Studio 74 founder Laura Simmons is now going full technicolor. Her penchant for vibrant, Western-inspired looks is reflected in the store’s inventory. Inside the Forth Worth location, you’ll find hand-embroidered rodeo uniforms, dresses fit for chores and proms, and tassels lots of tassels. Opened in 1999 by founders Ken Weber and Greg Kelly, it’s actually three stores in one: A fully stocked antiques shop with clothing from the 1800s onward; a consignment shop with more modern items like hard-to-find Chanel and Hermès pieces previously beloved by the city’s wealthy; and, most recently, a dedicated men’s boutique located next door.
Shop founder Katie White has an uncanny ability to combine prairie dresses with vintage Harley Davidson T-shirts in a way that keeps customers flocking to this Bishop Arts store. Delicate lace dresses and hand-crafted frocks, along with everything Gunne Sax, are often found on the racks, along with a variety of jumpsuits and band T-shirts. Through the back door, you’ll find Brass Tacks Barber Shop, an old-school store run by White’s husband, Brandon.
Located in Dallas’ sister city, Denton’s vibrant town square, this jewelry store focuses on selling pieces of glamorous women’s history. There are 1940s peplum suits alongside 80s Victor Costa dresses, everything Mad Men (including lingerie!) and a wide range of accessories to complete any outfit. With virtually no online presence, your best bet is to simply drop by – it’s all part of the vintage adventure. Founded by Daniel Brown in 2019, Nylo Wool is where the Marlboro man’s wardrobe is curated for the next generation. You'll find this place filled with items beloved by real cowboys, like H Bar C pearl-studded shirts, deep-cut overalls (including patches) from the 1940s, and an overall focus on plaid, flannel, and Western apparel… truly, authentically Western.
