The monstrous boots were spotted on celebrities and street style stars at New York Fashion Week. Alibashirt’s street style photographer Phil Oh captured them on Dorian Electra, who styled them with a graphic coat, mini skirt (to fully show the shoes) and a matching red beret. Model Sarah Snyder paired with a glossy red skirt and white tights; TikTok star and model Wisdom Kaye styled them with athletic shorts. The consensus seemed to be to allow the statement boots to be the focal point (and it would be hard not to). Outside of the fashion set, there’s also been a handful of stars rocking them as well. Basketball player Shai GilgeousAlexander wore them to the arena before a game; Diplo wore them to watch a Knicks game; Janelle Monae even shot hoops in them.
Yes, I actually cut and sewed this blazer last night, a few hours before I came to this shoot. I found these two blazers at a local thrift store and reworked them both into one couture piece! When I first started making knitwear seriously I was only knitting balaclavas. I was a sophomore in the fine arts department at Parsons who had just figured out she hates oil painting. I needed to figure out a way to meld my love of knitwear and my studio course so I made a balaclava with
no face holes. I think I made up some self-isolation concept for it that was really dumb, but it started this chain reaction that had me making balaclavas on balaclavas.
There were other fabulous downtime fits. Namely, singer Shygirl shared some demur bed selfies while wearing a ruffled silk skirt. And we got a glimpse of Olympic diver Tom Daley crocheting pieces for his self-launched Made With Love label in a bicep-baring checkered vest. With the Cannes Film Festival in full-swing, there were decidedly more dramatic and luxurious offerings posted from abroad. Elle Fanning, a darling of the cinema event, showed off her Cartier choker. While model Ashley Graham shared some fierce blurry backseat photos of her in a car, dressed in a one-shoulder black dress and thigh-high strappy heels. Selena Gomez, ever the astute poster, shared some red-washed photos of her enjoying dinner in Paris with a friend, whilst wearing oval sunglasses and a baggy leather jacket.
