The couple married in 1977 and have five children from both previous marriages. In 1990, they divorced but remarried the following year. After so many years together, Judy has revealed one of the couple's secrets to a long marriage - a fit figure. She said in 2021: "We're both very superficial when it comes to it." An anonymous former employee specifically told the outlet, "I thought [executive producer] Alex Duda was a monster. I had a friend who was an executive producer who warned me about getting this job, because she's obviously done this on every show she's been on." The claim - which includes input from one current and 10 former staff member on The Kelly Clarkson Show - does not apply to the American Idol winners themselves. Insiders told Rolling Stone that Clarkson, 41, is "awesome" and "has no idea how unhappy her staff is." "I would be shocked if she knew," said one former employee. "I would be surprised if she found out that staff were not getting paid during the two-week Christmas break. Gerald "Jerry" Sheindlin was born on November 19, 1933 in New York City. He served in the Army during the Korean War and went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Long Island University and a law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1959. Upon graduation, Jerry eventually became a partner of Adlerberg & Sheindlin, where he worked as a defense attorney focusing on criminal cases. In 1980, he was appointed a US administrative law judge before
becoming a criminal court judge in 1983. In 1986, Jerry began working as a trial judge on the New York Supreme Court. Like his wife, Jerry works as a television referee. He became presiding judge at the People's Court in the fall of 1999, replacing former New York City Mayor Ed Koch. Jerry told the Los Angeles Times in 1999 that his wife, whose series of Judge Judy began in 1996, encouraged him to take the job. "She's the one who told me I should do it. If she had any qualms about it, I wouldn't have done it."
