Aspen may be famous for its powdery snow, but one of the city's most beloved and historic hotels has a slightly darker story. In 1936, the ten-year-old son of a family staying in room 310 drowned in the hotel's swimming pool and his wet, shivering ghost has been seen wandering the hotel ever since. Known as "Water Boy," he left a trail of wet footprints everywhere he went; some staff even refused to work on the hotel's third floor. Water Boy was so infamous that local artists even created tributes, which now hang in the hotel's iconic lobby bar.
This 25-room Victorian mansion looks like it came straight out of a classic horror movie not only is it built on a hill right next to a cemetery, but it also has a towering tower with pointed windows and a spire. It’s said that a few spirits still lurk inside: the original owners, Mary and Frank Henderson, who built the house in 1895; a Spanish-American war veteran who loved the house; and a little girl who fell off the scaffolding and broke her neck.
The Hollywood Roosevelt is nearly a century old it hosted the first Academy Awards; has appeared in a number of films and television shows; and has hosted celebrities from Ernest Hemingway to Brad Pitt so you better believe it's seen some things. Over the years, visitors have reported seeing the ghost of Marilyn Monroe in the mirror in her former private room, as well as hearing the faint sound of a trombone, supposedly played by the ghost of actor Montgomery Clift.
