When I started working at Vogue as one of Anna Wintour’s assistants seven years ago, there were three of us, each with clearly defined responsibilities. While Corinne, the executive assistant, handled travel and travel, and Jasmine, the second assistant, managed invitations and tickets, my duties included, among other things, the travel of Anna’s goldendoodles. That meant ordering Chewy, coordinating vet appointments, and spending a lot of time on the phone with customer service reps to buy a pet tracker that never seemed to work. I also checked in regularly with Olaseni Olukogbon, Anna’s devoted dog walker, to check his hours for the week or when the trainer would be arriving.
There was Mutley, who managed to hit all his targets (Carey even helped Mutley into perfect pianist pose, paws posing elegantly on the ivory keys); Cha Cha, who was shy, cool, and more confident in front of the camera; and Jill E. Beans, who even serenaded us with some on-key howls. All of them, of course, were styled by Carey herself who accessorized Jill E. Beans with a statement necklace, and Cha Cha and Mutley in their best Wicked-inspired knits from Canine

What does a typical day off look like for Carey and her dogs, you might ask? Photographed at her historic Connecticut home for our special Dogue package, Carey gave Vogue an intimate day at home with her well-dressed pets all of whom, it turns out, are also natural fashion icons. (Fun fact: Cha Cha is Jill E. Beans' mother, and Jill E. Beans is Mutley's aunt.) Striking their best poses while some of Carey's classics like "Dreamlover" played as the photoshoot's soundtrack, the three dogs are seasoned professional models, proving that they're clearly worthy of being in front of the camera just like their glamorous mom. Turns out, all they needed was some subtle guidance from Carey herself, who gently encouraged them from the sidelines in sleeveless, mustard-colored Gucci tracksuits, no less.
