EDITORIAL

And ... - action ! If this text was a movie, you’d remember it better. Perhaps it would leave an impression, make you laugh or even make you cry. If you like it, you would share it and recommend it to your friends and colleagues. Moving images have a lasting emotional effect on us, leaving other media far behind. On YouTube alone, more than four billion videos are viewed worldwide every single day. An individual person would need 340,000 years to see all of these. And the numbers are only increasing with 72 hours of video being uploaded every minute. These fascinating numbers are not a trend exclusive to YouTube. Across the Internet there is an increasing demand for video. Statistics tell us that 76 percent of all European Internet users watch online videos. Or, perhaps even more telling, that the average visit time on a website without video content lasts a mere 43 seconds, whereas on a website with video it is closer to six minutes. It is safe to say that video is exponentially rising in popularity with our generation. But what are the reasons for this? Which technologies strengthen this Internet video trend? And how can we – whether companies, political parties, NGOs or associations – profit from the many opportunities that online video communications offers? Quadriga’s PLAY International conference, designed to bolster successful online video communications, will give you answers to these and many other questions regarding moving image and professional video communication. It offers guidance in beautiful color imagery; conveys strategies and techniques that help transform your messages into concise audiovisuals; gives suggestions and practical tips for working with online video and creates opportunities to network with colleagues and peers. Prof. Dr. Alexander Gutzmer, Quadriga University Berlin

PROGRAMME MODULES

MODULE 1: CONTENT

The first module of the conference will focus on the creation of content. After a short introduction by Professor Dr. Frank Schwab on the emotional impact of video communication, three best cases will delve into more detail. Wien De Geyter (Febelfin) will explain the internal factors that need to be taken into account, Per Nilsson (Volvo Trucks) will provide insights into creating the most successfull automotive marketing video ever and Astrid Deilmann (WWF) will round off the module by showing exactly why video is such an emotional tool.

MODULE 2: PRODUCTION

Our second module focuses on the production side of online video. Two kick-off sessions will showcase how a video can a) be produced internally by your own video production department and b) be produced by an external video production agency. After each of the kick-off sessions, three different workshops will be offered to help you develop the right skills. You will learn how to come up with creative ideas, what your corporation needs to be aware of in advance when working with agencies and what technological tools are out there waiting to be used.

MODULE 3: DISTRIBUTION

The third module is all about video distribution and how to make sure that you reach your target audience. In order to do so, a variety of channels are available: these will be outlined in four different session. Xavier Roussel will show how Dole Fresh Fruit Europe connects the offline product with its online background information, Caroline Wouters (WoltersKluwer) will explain how to implement online video into B2B communications and Marc Langendorf (Siemens) will introduce the online video platform /answers. Finally, Lasse Hogenfeld (Jyske Bank) will introduce Jyske Bank TV. A discussion with all speakers will end the conference, allowing you to compare the different approaches.

Even more so if your budget is as tight as that of an NGO. With some real-life examples, this session shows you how to get through to your audiences with an emotional approach and achieve those goals your boss has set.
