Heinen Delfts Blauw is one of the few companies making real, authentic Delftware pottery. This family business once started with father Jaap Heinen and his son Jorrit painting together at the market. At the request of their customers who linger at the market stall, father Jaap paints the most beautiful vases and other objects. The quality of the fine brushstrokes on the porcelain does not go unnoticed and soon father and son open their first studio and store on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam.
Son Jorrit feels his creativity bubbling and has big dreams for the small business. The opening of several stores follows, both at home and abroad, and significant investments are made in the development of new Delft blue collections. Hand-painting remains a great passion of father and son, and this age-old craft forms the strong DNA of the company. With the efforts of the best designers, master painters and ceramic technicians, new collections are designed to the highest possible standard. The new products all honor the authentic Delftware craft, but also look to the future, so that Delftware will continue to exist for generations to come. Tradition and innovation. Creating new traditions.

Nhaan is fast becoming the most famous dog in the Netherlands. “Euh, who?” you might ask, especially if you are not very much at home in the world of Dutch celebrities. Well, Nhaan, that is. Janny van der Heijden’s furry dachshund. This four-legged diva is rapidly conquering the hearts of many Dutch people. In addition to its own Instagram account, cover shoots for magazines and TV roles in cooking shows, this endearing dachshund also has its own Delft blue collection on which it plays the leading role!
If there is anyone who can be the first to enjoy Janny van der Heijden’s cooking, it is her little dog. The love of good food doesn’t stop with Janny, but this preference has also been adopted by her dachshund. Janny’s little eye apple turns her nose up at ordinary dog cookies, but when she gets the chance she quickly slips away with a piece of exclusive truffle cheese. Not very surprising in such a household! Why settle for less when you are surrounded by so much quality that stimulates all your senses. That is precisely our attitude when it comes to making dinnerware of the very highest quality, because we won’t do it for less.
By the way, Nhaan has not always had the loving, tasty life she has now. When she was two years old, Janny got the dachshund from a kennel, where she was not exactly the most beloved dog. Nhaan is a bit of a loner, does not like to follow the crowd and likes to draw her own plan. Character traits that we appreciate enormously. Nhaan is apparently eternally grateful to her owner for getting her out of the kennel, because
since then she follows Janny like a shadow. She even panics a little when she doesn’t see her. That love is mutual. The two have become inseparable both in front of and behind the cameras. Truly a story of rags to riches.
Now Nhaan is, to our knowledge, the only dachshund in the Netherlands with her own Delft blue china. Our master painter
has copied this characteristic little dog in detail and has her happily running around on plates and teacups. The Teckel Nhaan dinnerware also perfectly matches the other collections within the Sharing Moments line, which feature lush tulips and mischievous monkeys.
Sharing Moments is a collaboration between Janny van der Heijden and Heinen Delfts Blauw. The tableware was born out of a shared love of Delft blue porcelain, design and functionality. Putting a beautiful porcelain service on the table is great, of course, but you don’t get much pleasure out of it if the service is not functional. Janny van der Heijden, as queen of the kitchen, knows better than anyone else what you need for preparing and serving the tastiest dishes. That’s why, together with Heinen Delfts Blauw, she put a lot of time into the composition and design of the Sharing Moments collections. In addition to the cheerful tulips and hilarious monkeys, her beloved dachshund has now won a place on the tableware - and in our hearts.
Monkey business is about playing ridiculous pranks and mimicking human behavior. The playful monkeys on the Aapjes collection by Janny van der Heijden for Heinen Delfts Blauw, bring a smile to everyone’s face. This genre of monkeys in satirical situations was already a popular theme on pottery four hundred years ago, and we are happy to bring these light-hearted pranksters back to the kitchen table. Besides being a symbol of absurdity, wise primates have been depicted on porcelain in Asia for centuries to depict wisdom and long life.

Monkeys are popular animals to depict on dinnerware, vases and other decorative objects. It is a trend that we are now seeing revived, but this theme began two thousand years ago.
On centuries-old Chinese or Japanese porcelain, monkeys often occupy a prominent place, and in the Netherlands during the Golden Age, monkeys were mostly depicted as funny, clumsy animals imitating human behavior. Following on from the Aapjes service from the Sharing Moments collection, we have created a textile collection that you can add to the kitchen.

The Tulpen collection is part of Sharing Moments and was designed by Janny van der Heijden. Like no other, this queen of the kitchen knows what you need to prepare and serve a complete dinner. Because of her great passion for Delft blue pottery, her tableware naturally had to look beautiful, but just as important is that her tableware is handy to use.
The ceramic traditions of Asia and the Netherlands are inseparable. In honor of this, designer Romy Kühne designed the tableware “Blauw Vouw” for Heinen Delfts Blauw. The collection has become a surprising encounter between the Asian art of folding Origami and Dutch Delftware. You recognize Romy Kühne’s work by its geometric shapes and her eye for craftsmanship. In a time full of fast techniques, she chooses to design her collection in an authentic, traditional way. With peace and attention.

Blauw Bloesem is a collection designed by designer Debbie Wijskamp. You can recognize the collection by the playful contrast between rough and polished. Coarse and refined. Nature and the hand of the craftsman. She got the inspiration for this collection from excavated, refined pottery that has been under the ground for years. According to Debbie Wijskamp, much beauty lies hidden in the transient and imperfect, and with Blauw Bloesem she provides proof of that.

Avondbloem is a dinner service with a minimalist and hushed design. The lush flowers have the color of Delft blue paint before it goes into the kiln and transforms. The gray-black tones of the flowers are accompanied by gold accents and are reminiscent of a flower garden when evening falls.

The Paauw Blauw collection is named after the former 17th century pottery “Paauw de Delfts Blauw Fabriek” of Heinen Delfts Blauw.
The peacock is the oldest ornamental bird depicted on pottery and is known for its magnificent tail feathers. In addition to obvious beauty, these majestic birds are also a popular decoration because they symbolize love and happiness.
The Oranje Tulp collection is completely handmade and each item is hand-painted. The dinnerware and vases combine the best elements of Dutch pottery culture: Delftware, tulips and porcelain. The traditional, Delft blue patterns are complemented by cheerful, orange tulips. The collection has an authentic yet fresh and cheerful look.

Round wall plates for the wall are more popular than ever. A Delft blue wall plate used to be a valuable possession that deserved a nice spot on the wall, nowadays it is a creative way to involve the walls in the interior. Our collection of wall plate consists of a variety of styles, from classic still lifes to a retro interplay of lines and everything in between. The wall plate combine beautifully with each other because of overlapping colors and recognizable decorations.
Meet our adventurous Delft Blue dodos! This artwork by Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk for Heinen Delfts Blauw, brings the striking, extinct bird back to life. De Blauwe Dodo is a time traveler, traveling the world as an adventurous loner in search of conspecifics and a new, cozy home.
Delft blue painting is not something you can just learn at art school.
This ancient craft is passed down from master painter to apprentice painter, and it takes years for the painter-in-training to master this particular way of painting. What makes the Delftware painting technique extra challenging is that the paint is actually black in color. The paint is a mix of cobalt and copper oxide that we make to our own recipe in our factory. During firing, the paint turns from black to the recognizable Delft blue color, thanks to a chemical reaction between the paint and the glaze. In addition, the material is unforgiving: once a brushstroke is made, it remains visible forever.

Queen Mary the Second filled all her palaces with it in the 17th century: the pyramid-shaped tulip vase. This pyramid vase has been the most iconic Delft blue tulip vase ever since and it is now available in all shapes, colors and sizes.
At Heinen Delfts Blauw, we have created an extensive collection of pyramid vases consisting of three layers. A table model based on Queen Mary’s original vases.
A pyramid vase is made up of several layers that step up. The widest layer is at the very bottom of the vase and the narrowest layer is at the top, just like a pyramid. Each layer has its own water container so the flowers get the nourishment they need, and thanks to the multiple spouts, the delicate flower stems get the support they need to stay beautiful longer.
The beloved milk churn vases are shaped like an old Dutch milk can. These nostalgic milk containers used to stand neatly in a row on farm roads waiting to be picked up by the milk factory wagons. The milk can has the ideal shape to base a large vase on, in which you can put a beautiful bouquet of meadow flowers. A piece of farmers charm for the kitchen table.
Delftware is an archetypal Dutch product, as is the bicycle. Especially in the eyes of foreign visitors who often marvel at the great hordes of bicycles, in all sizes and shapes, racing by. It inspired French designer Sylvain Tegroeg to create the collection De Blauwe Fiets for Heinen Delfts Blauw. Fresh, modern illustrations on streamlined objects.
Pick it. Mix it. Stack it! Let your creativity run wild with the Stapelgekte collection from Heinen Delfts Blauw. From now on, YOU are the one to put together your favorite three-piece tulip vase. We have taken the traditional pyramid vase completely apart and converted it into individual parts that fit together precisely. It’s up to you to stack new, trendy and unique combinations together. With all the loose parts from the collection, there are 16,000+ unique pyramid vases to make. Let the stacking madness break loose!
