Option Study and Analysis- Site A Option A1 Option A1 maximizes the possible building height (70mPD under OZP requirement) and develops a 12-storey high building. One of the obvious advantages for implementing this option is that the extent for slope and excavation works can be reduced, meaning to reduce construction cost for sub-structure work.
Option A2 Option A2 has a large floor area and lower building height as comparing to Option A1. Larger floor area means more flexibility and higher efficiency in layout planning and may suit more for hospital operation, in particular for animals of different sizes and nature.
Option A3 Option A3 has the largest floor area and lowest building height among the three options.

Proposed School of Veterinary Medicine During the design development of the schematic layout plans of the Extended Option A2, the main considerations are:- Two vehicular accesses are planned.
01
- Loading and unloading entrance is located on the internal access road of the CityU campus, while the carpark entrance is located on Nam Shan Chuen Road to allow public access. - Hospital and teaching block are accessed by two separate pedestrian entrances. - Another student/ staff entrance (by a link bridge) is located on 3/F of the building facing the existing Amenity Building to allow a direct connection from the MTR exit. - Lower floors of the building are divided into two zones – hospital and teaching blocks. Upper floors are dedicated to research area and special laboratories.

Option Study and Analysis- Site B Option B1 Option B1 maximizes possible building height, which means minimizing footprint. Future expansion is possible at the adjoining vacant land, but site access to the extension is different. Excavation by open cut is possible. Better E&M Modular Design is possible.
Option B2 Option B2 maximizes possible building height, which means minimizing footprint. Less tree felling and slope work is required as quite a large extent of the building mass is placed on the flat land at the upper level of the site (app. +95mPD).
Option B3 Option B3 allows least nuisance to the neighbours as the building is completely set back from Tat Hong Avenue and adjacent developments. Less vertical transportation is required as building footprint is the largest.

Proposed School of Veterinary Medicine During the design development of the schematic layout plans of Option B2a, the main considerations are:- Vehicular access for both loading/ unloading and carpark is located on Tat Hong Road at lower level (72.2mPD), while L/UL and carpark are located on G/F. - Three entrances are planned to separate different users, namely hospital entrance, teaching block entrance and the lecture theatre entrance. All three entrances share a common entrance plaza covered by a glass canopy and served by a drop-off along Tat Hong Road. They are located on 1/F at the level 77.5mPD. - The hospital block is slightly set back from Tat Hong Road to break down the building mass and allow drop off and landscape in front of the building. Upper floors of the teaching block are further recessed from Tat Hong Road to further break down the building mass and reduce wall effect to the neighbours.

Proposed International Centre During the design development of the schematic layout plans of Option C1, the main considerations are:- It is assumed that the existing AC3 and the student hostel site can support site C and D development in terms of carpark and electrical supply (refer to section 8.0 for details);
01
- The existing basketball court should be re-provided on roof top; - The existing link bridges and ramps from AC3 and student hostel site should be retained; - Linkage to the adjacent park should be considered; - Green roof is anticipated.

Proposed Layout Plan- G/F- 2/F Option C1 was preferred to achieve more floor area. However, the scheme has to be revised to retain the existing link bridge and ramp to Site D and AC3 for both cost and environmental consideration, to avoid disturbance to the existing stream and to try to minimize the extent of rock excavation.
