Culinary Heidelberg – enjoy regional beer Beer brewing is a centuries-old tradition in Heidelberg. Have you ever wondered how “das kühle Blonde”, the “cool blonde”, is brewed? Step into the world of hops, malt and copper vats.

Heidelberg Castle Illumination Every year, the magic of the Heidelberg Castle Illuminations draws crowds of thousands. Bengal lights bathe the world-famous ruin in a mysterious red glow, reminiscent of the destruction during the Palatine War of Succession. The origin of the blaze of lights from the Old Bridge is not war but love: in 1613, the Elector-Prince Friedrich V staged fireworks to welcome his young bride, Elisabeth Stuart, and thereby establish this 400-year old tradition. Take part in this spectacular event. After a 90 minute cruise along the Neckar river, enjoy the fireworks from a front row seat when the boat drops anchor in front of the Old Bridge, the best viewing position in town.

Heidelberg Christmas Market The aroma of the sugar almonds drifts through the lanes of the Old Town and handcrafted goods and winter delicacies are sold in tiny fairy-tale cottages – the Heidelberg Christmas Market, with its 130 individual booths, is one of the most beautiful markets in Germany. As you wander through the Old Town, the streets decorated for Advent, you can’t help but feel as if you have been transported to a Christmas fairy tale world. Heidelberg Castle Festival The unique renaissance buildings, the quaint nooks and the expansive gardens and parklands of Heidelberg Castle provide fascinating opportunities for the artistic whims of the Heidelberg Theater.
