WELCOME TO THE GREEN ENERGY SPORTS GROUND FOR TODAY'S DERBY AGAINST NORTH SHIELDS.
I was so proud of the lads against Dunson - it was an immense performance. To a man, they were brilliant. We had to make a few enforced changes throughout due to injuries, and to say we hadn't played for a few weeks, I thought they were top drawer. Shaun Newbrook only had one or two saves to make all game. In the first half, we were getting seconds balls and playing well - we didn't create clear cut opportunities but we just told the lads to keep plugging away. We've worked on things in training like overloading one side and putting balls into the box, and we found that spare man with Robbie Spence which allowed Amar Purewal to get a tap in at the back stick. I thought my two centre-backs, Sean Reid and Jack Donaghy, were outstanding and we're pleased with the clean sheet. It's just three points at the end of the day, but it's something to build off. The lads put their bodies on the line, and that's what we've asked of them from day one. It's the second game in a row where the opposition hasn't created much so no matter who's played in the back four, because Tom Devitt had a massive part off the bench, they've done excellent. It's another tough match today - we can't get carried away at all, I won't let that happen. Football is a funny game - a few weeks ago we couldn't buy a win and now we've got two in a row.
