Thisprocedurecoverstheremovalandinstallationof theboomrestextensions.Forremovalandinstallation oftheremainingboomrestcomponents,seeSM KeysheetArea01---001.
Removal
1.Lower,detach,andsecureload,asrequired.
2.Stabilizethecraneforserviceasfollows:
a.Parkthecraneoutofthewayonafirmandlevel surface.
b.Engagetheparkbrakeand/orproperlyblock thetires.
c.Engagetheswingparkbrakeortravelswing lock,asrequired.
d.Levelthecraneonfullyextendedoutriggers.
e.Fullyretractandlowertheboomovertherear ofthecarrier.
3.Shutdowntheengineanddisengagethemainhydraulicpump.
WARNING
Solventsandcleaningsolutionscanbe hazardous.Seriouspersonalinjurymay resultfrommisuseoftheseproducts.Read andfollowallthemanufacturers recommendationsconcerningsolventsand cleaningsolutions.
4.Thoroughlycleanareatobedisassembledwithan approvedcleaningsolvent.Allowtheareatoair dry.

5.Removethecapscrews,washers,andlocknuts(1).
6.Separatethelocatorcap(2)fromtheboomrest extension(3).
7.Supporttheboomrestextension(3),andremove thecapscrews,washers,andlocknuts(4).
8.Removetheboomrestextension(3)fromthepivot assembly(5).
9.RepeatSteps5thru8fortheremovaloftheoppositeboomrestextension(3),asrequired.
CleaningAndInspection
WARNING

1.Allcomponentsshouldbethoroughlycleanedwith anapprovedcleaningsolvent,airdried,andcarefullyinspected.
2.AllLoctite ,Permatex ,orothersealantresidue shouldberemovedfromthreadsofhardwareand themountingsurfacesofpartsthataregoingtobe reused.Priortoapplyingnewthreadlockingcompoundsorsealants,cleanthreadsandsurfaces withLoctiteR 7070Cleanertoensurebestperformanceofproducts.
3.Thoroughlyinspectallpartsfordamage,wear,fatigueorstressfractures,andcorrosion.Repairor replaceasrequired.
4.Intheeventofseveredefects,contactfactorypersonnelfordirectionswhethertorepairorreplace anymajorcomponent.
Installation

Lubricants,sealants,jointandthreadlocking compounds,etc.canbehazardous.Serious personalinjurymayresultfrommisuseof theseproducts.Readandfollowall manufacturersrecommendationsconcerning theseproducts.

1.Slidetheboomrestextension(3)intothepivotassembly(5),andalignthemountingholes.

2.Installthecapscrews,washers,andlocknuts(4).
3.Installthelocatorcap(2)ontheboomrestextension(3)andsecurewithcapscrews,washers,and locknuts(1).

4.Verifyproperinstallationperthedimensionslisted inFigure1.
Note:Actualdimensionsmayvaryslightlyfrom illustrationduetowearonindividualcomponents.
5.Ifadjustmentsarerequired:
a.Supporttheboomrestextension(3).
b.Removethecapscrews,washers,andlocknuts(4).
c.Adjusttheheightoftheboomrestextension (3),asrequired.
d.Installthecapscrews,washers,andlocknuts (4).
6.RepeatSteps1thru5fortheinstallationoftheoppositeboomrestextension(3),asrequired.
7.Completetheinstallationbytestingtheboomrest forproperalignment.Theboomshouldrestevenly onthepads.Adjustasrequired.
