BL71/BL71Plus is a four-wheel drive rigid backhoe loader. The engine is a four-cylinder, four-stroke, direct-injection, turbocharged diesel engine. The transmission has a single stage hydraulic torque converter and a hydro-mechanical power shuttle gearbox. The front and rear axles have fully floating drive shafts with planetary type reductions. The rear axle has a dog-clutch type differential lock and integral oil immersed multi-disc brakes. The machine features a dual brake system, so the braking force is provided by separate circuits to service and parking brake. The service brake is hydraulically operated. The parking brake is mechanically operated. The steering system is hydrostatic with a load-sensing steering unit and a double acting steering cylinder. The electrical system voltage is 12 VDC. Electrical and electro-hydraulic functions are monitored and controlled by a Vehicle Electronic Control Unit (V-ECU).

WARNING To avoid severe burns, DO NOT attempt the next procedure when the engine is HOT. Wait for the engine, silencer and tailpipe to cool before proceeding. NOTE! The check should be carried out when the oil is cold and has had time to run down to the oil pan. 1. Place the machine on a flat surface in Service position two, see Service positions. 2. Use the dipstick to check the engine oil level. See Service positions for location of the engine oil level dipstick. The measured level should be between the max. and min. marks. Fill in new oil if necessary.

The high firing voltage of the bulb can destroy expensive electronic components. When installing a two-way radio, mobile phone, etc., installation must be performed according to manufacturer's instructions in order to eliminate interference with electronic systems and components intended for the function of the machine.

The cooling system has a closed cooling circuit, with externally operated fans. The coolant pump (1) is operated via the V-belt, delivering coolant to the cylinder block via the oil cooler (2). In the cylinder block, the coolant flows around the cylinder liner (3) and up to the cylinder head grooving (4). The thermostat (5) starts to open at 86°C (187°F) and is completely open at 102°C (216°F). If the temperature is higher than 86°C (187°F), the coolant flows to the heat exchanger (7) via the feed line (6) and then through the thermostat housing to the engine via the return line (8). The expansion tank (9) has an expansion line (10) to the thermostat housing and a bleed line (11) for the cylinder head. The cab heating feed line (12) is connected to the oil cooler (2). The return line connection is on the thermostat housing.

The engine is a four-cylinder, four-stroke, in-line diesel engine with direct injection, exhaust turbocharger, liquid cooling and internal, unregulated exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). To comply with exhaust gas limit values, the turbocharger is equipped with unregulated, internal exhaust gas recirculation (IEGR), which returns the exhaust gas within the cylinder head to the combustion air. The oxygen content of this exhaust is low. A lower oxygen content reduces the temperature spike during combustion and thereby reduces nitrogen oxide (NO ). The camshaft has an extra cam - the trailing cam. This causes the inlet valve to briefly open during the exhaust stroke so that exhaust gas also enters the engine intake system. In the subsequent induction stroke, this exhaust is sucked back in. There is no regulation of exhaust gas quantity. Engine data plate The engine data plate specifies model, engine number and power data. The engine number is also stamped into the crankcase. Model and engine number must be specified when ordering spare parts. The direction of rotation is found on the flywheel, anticlockwise. Firing order: 1-3-4-2 (cylinder no. 1 on the flywheel side). IMPORTANT! Adjustments to the regulator may only be performed by trained staff in an authorized central repair workshop.

NOTICE The governor's settings may only be adjusted by trained personnel at a central overhaul workshop. Engine revolution governor (Heinzmann). The engine revolution governor on the D4D engine is of the centrifugal type. Engine type, serial number and rated speed (rpm) must always be stated when ordering a governor as spare part. Each regulator for the above mentioned engines has been especially made for a particular engine. This means that a governor cannot be moved from one engine to another. NOTE! An incorrectly adjusted governor may cause the engine not to meet the applicable regulations for emissions and performance. Service side
