120 years ago, this week, Heathfield School opened in Ascot under the auspices of Eleanor Beatrice Wyatt using Ruskin’s words that they shall know what it is to see the sky. How incredible that 120 years later we have gathered together to celebrate the wonderful school that is Heathfield and the young women whom it has guided, inspired and celebrated over the years. Speaking of celebrating it was a real privilege to present to the Heads of Boarding schools across the world this week at the Boarding Schools’ Conference in London where I talked about inculcating resilience and grit and a love of challenge at Heathfield. It seemed to be well received and will add to the increasing interest that Heathfield is generating. It is, however, ultimately all about the learning and it was terrific to hear from a Psychology tutor who came in to Heathfield, just how impressed she was by the questions and dilemmas posed to her by our girls and she has visited over 240 schools; what an accolade. Continuing with learning, the girls are settling down very well to their own challenge of public examinations these coming weeks. I know that you will join me and the staff in wishing them all the best over the next few weeks. They have all the support that we can proffer, they have worked hard and with determination and effort I know that they will succeed. I hope you enjoy reading all about what we have been up to over the last two weeks and I wish you all a May which, hopefully, will be warming up! Best wishes, Mrs Gardiner Legge, Headmistress
