After a successful half-term trip to Hong Kong and Bangkok with the Girls’ School Association, it was refreshing to return to the coolness of Autumn. As the nights draw in, we celebrated Bonfire night; thank you to all those parents who attended and watched our sky light up with the wonderful firework display. On Tuesday we held the first of three assessment days for potential 2019 students. We have a further two this week and it is gratifying to see these days are oversubscribed with girls looking at both Forms I and III for September. I do hope you were able to attend and see our speaker this week; Emine Sebaci Kamilsli is an Old Girl and her inspirational talk about women in business mooted some fantastic questions from our girls. The Athena society invited Lukas Haitzmann in to speak as he is attempting to row solo across the Atlantic next month. These stories about strong individuals who have made the most of themselves are absolutely essential to ensuring that your daughters continue to aim as high as they can. Lastly, this weekend I spoke at the Independent Schools’ Show about adolescence in the digital age, together with Ms Jenny Eastwood from The Parent Practice and it was good to catch up with some of you there. I hope you enjoyed a restful exeat with your daughters and I look forward to seeing you at St Nicholas’ Stalls if not before. Best wishes Mrs Gardiner Legge
