What a wonderful range of activities this newsletter showcases and the commensurate skills that Heathfield girls learn. The grit and resilience from kayaking 125 miles over four days is extraordinary and the example the girls have set is astonishing. To be the first all girls’ school to have completed this race is a real achievement and wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment and dedication from Mrs de Ferrer and the parental teams who supported the girls through their race. This was a wonderful example of school / parent partnership at its best.

It’s great that summer seems to have come at last. It’s the first time in my experience at the school that the heating has stayed on into the Summer term, but the recent milder days means that the girls are out playing rounders or tennis in the evenings which is terrific to see, and helps balance the pressure of the forthcoming exams for the school, whether internal or external. But, as ever at Heathfield, it is never just about what happens in the classroom but the education of the whole girl, and I hope you enjoy reading about the exploits of the girls in these pages as much as we have enjoyed working with your daughters. Best wishes, Mrs Gardiner Legge
