Issue Number 115 15 January 2021
Welcome to the Lent Term! It has been wonderful to meet a number of you already, both last term and virtually this term. I am keen to meet you all and, as such, we have arranged weekly zoom sessions to allow us regular opportunities to speak over the next few weeks. These sessions will include updates from School and opportunities for you to ask questions. In addition, we have daily Zoom calls arranged with senior staff, allowing you to ‘drop in’ to talk to staff. Full details and meeting links can be found in the Parent Bulletin. Seeing the girls online during various meetings over the last two weeks has been a joy. Whether discussing their online learning, changes to examinations or our return to School, their questions have been thoughtful and considered, highlighting their engagement and care for their School. While the first few days of a new routine can be challenging, they have taken to ‘Heathfield@Home’ with impressive adaptability, and feedback from staff has been glowing. Our outstanding provision for virtual lessons, the range of support and pastoral care opportunities, the continuation of the co-curricular activities, and the virtual competitions and challenges are ensuring that even while apart, we are all able to contribute to and benefit from our community. I am particularly looking forward to seeing all the contributions to our Miles for Smiles challenge over the coming weeks, and the many smiles I am sure they will bring! My priority over the next few weeks is to get to know your daughters, yourselves, my colleagues and the School. Thank you to all who have sent warm wishes and messages of welcome. As one pupil wrote to me earlier this week, “Despite the circumstances, I am looking forward to School starting tomorrow, as I am sure you are too!” I share her sentiments entirely.
