Apply for Student Finance Step by Step Guide

Creating a Student Finance account

Step 1

Click on the following link to apply: https:// www.gov.uk/studentfinance-register-login

Step 2

Click on ‘Create an account’

It is important to note that in order to complete your online application you will need to know your National Insurance number.

Step 3

Now complete the online application process, as followed.

Finance England account

Moving onto step 4, you will need to answer the following series of questions in order for your application to be processed.

on ‘Higher Education’

Click on ‘Undergraduate’

Stage 1 About you

In the following sections you will be required to provide details of

• residency status,

• your address,

• relationship status (single, married, divorced etc)

If you require any help on stage 1 and 2 please contact the HE Team- HE@heartofyorkshire.ac.uk

You will only answer yes to this if you have previously studied or are studying at a University

Stage 3

When you get to this page, put in the University or college you will be studying at e.g. Heart of Yorkshire Education Group

The search boxes are drop downs so when you type into the box a list will start to appear so just choose the correct one.

Once you get to this page, put in the ‘Course title or SLC course code’ details will be in your offer letter in the box, you will then have to choose which campus you are studying at as some courses run at more than one campus e.g. Selby or Wakefield

Please make sure you have applied for the correct course

The search boxes are drop downs so when you type into the box a list will start to appear so choose the correct one

If you have incorrectly imputed the course title/ campus, please click on ‘change’ and amend as required

Stage 3

Choose the correct year you will be taking of the course. Normally this will be the first year.

Full Time course fee per year £ 7400 unless stated otherwise

Please select: ‘Yes, I want to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan’

If you do not apply for Tuition Fee Loan you have 2 option of paying for your course which would either be; Self funding the full cost of the course yourself Employer funded- where the employer pays all your course cost

Please select:

‘I want the maximum Tuition Fee Loan’

If you do not want to borrow either the maximum amount or pay the full amount not via a loan you have 2 option of paying for your course which would either be;

Self funding the cost of the course

yourself Employed funded- where the employer pays part/ all your course cost

You are now at the end of stage 3 – course and fees

Please check all the details are correct and make any necessary changes before continuing .

When filling in the information about income you do not have mention any part time job you may have as you will be a fulltime student and any income you earn through part time work is your choice. You only need your household income of your parent/s or the person you live with to be assessed for the amount of maintaince loan you will be entitled to. Once you have completed your application, the course that you have applied for and the campus you will study at will show on your account.

It will show Heart of Yorkshire at the bottom of your application, you do not need to do anything. .
