One of our favourite family traditions is breakfast at the beach
When the twins were little, they were not very good sleepers. We spent years trying to figure out how to get even a few consecutive hours of sleep at a time, and for a long stretch of life it felt like a constant blur of exhaustion, love, snacks, and survival When they were around two years old, we finally found a bit of a rhythm where they would sleep for a few hours straight, but no matter what we tried, 4:00am became the start of our day
After a while, I realized I could keep fighting against it, or I could lean into it. So instead of dreading those early mornings, I decided to treat them as an opportunity for connection And that is how breakfast at the beach was born
The twins would wake up at 4:00am, I would scoop them up, and we would pile into the vehicle while the rest of the world was still sleeping We would grab a drive-thru coffee, head straight to the beach, spread out a picnic blanket in the sand, eat breakfast together, play by the water, and watch the sun rise
There was something so beautiful about those quiet mornings before the beach filled up for the day By 10:00am, we would already be heading home with sandy feet, full hearts, and an entire morning of memories tucked into our day before most people had even arrived.
I think sometimes the moments that become the most meaningful are not the perfectly planned ones They are the ones born out of real life Out of adapting, showing up, and choosing connection anyway
I hope this summer you take every opportunity to prioritize connection over perfection, and that somewhere along the way, you find your own version of breakfast at the beach

Write a Letter To Your Greatest Fear...
Q: How do you deal with imposter syndrome as a business owner when you feel like you’re “not qualified enough”?
A: Excellent question.
First of all, I’d like you to know that you are not alone. I’ve spoken to many other business owners, and they’ve reported feeling imposter syndrome as well (some frequently, some only occasionally)
Imposter syndrome doesn’t go away with experience, it just evolves
The key is learning to separate feelings from facts. It’s normal to question yourself from time to time, but pause for a moment and look at the facts
Have you actually been incapable of completing your job due to lack of skills or understanding?
Or are you consistently completing your work to the satisfaction of your customers/clients (even if you do feel like an imposter while doing it)?
Struggling with Imposter Syndrome means you aren’t ready to grow your business.
Imposter Syndrome usually shows up when you are stepping into a new level of your business and haven’t yet built confidence in it
It’s a sign that you ARE growing, not a sign to stop

Writer: Jessica Schultz
Imposter syndrome is one of the most common (and least talked about) challenges business owners face, especially in a digital world where comparison is constant.
You’re not just running your business, you ’ re also watching others do it (often loudly and confidently) online
In the age of social media, it can be difficult not to compare ourselves to others, even when we know that what we are seeing is only a small portion of the truth of how well others are doing
The tricky part is that imposter syndrome doesn’t always look like self-doubt. It can show up as overworking, underpricing, avoiding visibility, or constantly second-guessing your decisions. Many business owners think they need to “fix” this feeling before they can grow, but in reality growth often happens right alongside it
One of the most helpful shifts is understanding that credibility isn’t built overnight It’s built through small, consistent actions: showing up, helping your clients, refining your offers, and always learning how to do what you do even better. You don’t need to be the most experienced person in your industry, you just need to be skilled/experienced enough to help the people you ’ re helping
It’s also important to create distance between your business and your identity When everything feels personal, every mistake feels heavier Instead, treat your business like something you ’ re building and testing, not something that defines your worth (and yes, I’m well aware that this one is easier said than done)
From a digital perspective, it helps to be intentional about what you consume If your social media feed leaves you feeling behind or badly about yourself, that’s a signal to adjust who you ’ re following Social media should be a tool, not a measuring stick of your success or self-worth
Lastly, build support systems into your business and life Whether it’s a community, a mentor, or even simple check-ins with yourself, having space to talk through challenges makes a huge difference
Imposter syndrome doesn’t mean you ’ re not capable It usually means you ’ re doing something new, stretching your comfort zone, and growing into the next version of your business and yourself
If you ’ re looking to connect with a community of business owners, I’d love to have you join us for Frazzled & Fabulous!

There’s a certain kind of woman whose presence feels coordinated before she even enters the room. Not because she planned it in detail, but because she’s deeply in tune with herself.
Her choices don’t compete. They confirm.
Her style is not a decision-making process, it’s an extension of her intuition.
She knows what she likes. She knows what feels good. And somehow, everything she touches ends up in harmony with that knowing. That’s the energy. Effortless. Certain. Fully expressed.
And this is exactly where MNR Beauty Boutique lives with her meeting that clarity with pieces that feel like they were designed exactly for you.
M N R B E A U T Y B O U T I Q U E

There’s a kind of clarity that doesn’t need explaining. You reach for something, and there’s no debate just recognition.
It fits the moment. It fits the mood. It fits you.
That’s the kind of ease MNR Beauty Boutique is built around – pieces that don’t require you to become someone else to wear them. They meet you exactly where your confidence already lives. No forcing. No adjusting. Just alignment.
Before anything is noticed, something about you already makes sense in the room.
It’s not about being loud or styled to perfection. It’s the way everything feels intentional without trying to be Like your presence sets the tone and everything else simply follows it
Getting dressed starts to feel less like assembling and more like expressing what’s already there
And what you choose to wear just becomes part of that conversation.
There’s a kind of ease that comes when you stop questioning what feels good and start trusting it.
Soft structure. Playful detail. A bold choice that doesn’t need validation to make sense.
You don’t need a reason for it to work If it feels aligned, it is
MNR Beauty Boutique sits in that same space with you –clothing that doesn’t reshape you, just reflects you back clearly
Comfortable, considered, and already in rhythm with who you are.

And that’s really it
You don’t arrive at yourself, you recognize yourself That quiet kind of knowing that feels familiar the moment it’s there.
So you get dressed. You move through your day. And without needing to say a word, you carry a kind of certainty that naturally speaks for you.

Be that girl who prioritizes herself to feel her best from the inside out

We all know the struggle – those days when self-doubt creeps in, or the thought of hitting a plateau stops you before you even start. Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or you're in the middle of a challenge, it’s easy to let mental and physical barriers hold you back from achieving your goals. The good news? You have the power to break through them, and it starts with shifting your mindset and focusing on your body’s potential
You are more capable than you realize But first, you need to quiet that voice that tells you "you can't" and replace it with the belief that you can do whatever you set your mind to So, how do you do that?
Breaking big goals into smaller, more manageable steps helps you maintain focus and gain confidence along the way The more you achieve, the more you start to see just how strong and capable you are Each small victory builds momentum, making the next step easier
The next time you hear that voice of doubt, ask yourself: “Is this really true?” More often than not, the answer is no. When you start to recognize negative thoughts, you can counteract them by reframing the narrative Tell yourself that setbacks aren’t failures –they’re learning opportunities that help you grow stronger
Fitness is a journey, not a destination. There will be days when things don’t go perfectly, and that’s okay. Instead of beating yourself up, focus on showing up consistently. Small, regular efforts add up to huge progress over time.
The real barrier isn’t just physical or mental – it’s a combination of both When you push past your mental limitations, your body will follow And when you improve your physical strength, your mental resilience strengthens too It’s all interconnected, and you can conquer both with the right approach
Ready to break through your barriers? Let’s work together to build a personalized fitness plan that not only addresses your physical goals but also helps you overcome the mental obstacles standing in your way Book your free consultation today and let’s take the first step toward your strongest self!

"THE ONLY LIMIT TO OUR REALIZATION OF TOMORROW IS OUR DOUBTS OF TODAY."
– FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT

I am a half-Japanese mama to 6 kiddos, a grandma, and wife to an amazing hubby.
I have been a stay-at-home mom for a lot of years and have loved *almost* every moment But as my kids have gotten older, I find myself wanting to do something that fulfills me again and that is to help other women become the version of themselves that they love!
I have spent far too many years not loving myself or feeling embarrassed that I was just a "stay-at-home mom" while at the same time feeling guilt and shame for seeming ungrateful for my life.
When I started to focus on ME by making my physical health and mental health a priority, that's when everything shifted I know that I am worthy of everything I desire I value myself and I feel free to BE THAT GIRL
Welcome to our space, where transformation begins from the inside out. Our studio is a sanctuary for growth, connection, and intentional living.

There was a time in my life when I thought healing lived in my mind. If I could just think differently, try harder, stay positive, or push through, I believed I could outgrow whatever felt heavy inside me I treated healing like something I could solve, something I could figure out if I was disciplined enough
But our bodies tell stories our minds often try to silence.
For so long, I mistook tension for motivation I mistook exhaustion for productivity I mistook pushing through for strength Somewhere along the way, I became disconnected from the quiet signals my body was sending: the clenched jaw, the racing thoughts, the heaviness in my chest, the constant feeling that I should be doing more.
I didn’t realize I was living in survival mode because survival had become familiar Healing, I’ve learned, begins when we start listening, not just to our thoughts, but to our bodies
The body whispers before it shouts. It offers nudges before it demands our attention A tight shoulder A restless night A nervous system that feels constantly “on” A deep fatigue that rest alone doesn’t touch
These are not failures They are messages
The beautiful thing is that our bodies are always inviting us back, not into perfection, but into connection
Back into breath
Back into softness.
Back into awareness.
Back into ourselves
For me, healing has looked less like fixing and more like listening Less like force and more like curiosity. Less like becoming someone new, and more like remembering who I was before I learned to override myself.
The body speaks first And when we learn its language, we begin to understand that healing was never about becoming more, it was always about coming home
Healing begins the moment we stop overriding what our body is trying to say, and start listening with compassion instead.
Do one act of self-care each day and add a heart to the grid to track your progress.

What has my body been trying to tell me lately, and have I been listening?

“MINDFULNESS IS AWARENESS THAT ARISES THROUGH PAYING ATTENTION, ON PURPOSE, IN THE PRESENT MOMENT, NONJUDGEMENTALLY”
- JON KABAT-ZINN (MINDFUL,
Mindfulness is the practice of observing, accepting and creating awareness of the here and now (Aghaie & Ghomian, 2021) The benefits of a mindfulness practice can include self-acceptance, positive relationships with others and self, autonomy, purposefulness in life, and personal growth.
Mindfulness has been described as a set of skills that builds the “top-down” reflective parts of selfregulation, including greater attention and cognitive flexibility, while also reducing “bottom-up” distractions, such as impulsiveness and rumination (MacDonald, 2021, p 156)
This type of mindful self-regulation helps with emotion regulation and the delay of gratification.
The more you do it the more you are being it
Meditation is a form of a mindful practice
Various meditation techniques allow one to act with awareness and non-judgmental mindfulness. Meditations that are grounded in openness, curiosity, and acceptance of one’s thoughts, feelings, and sensations, and have been shown to impact well-being and other facets of mental health
Focused Attention meditations (the observing side of mindfulness) involves paying attention to a specific object or focus, such as the breath, mantra, word or phrase and repeatedly returning one’s attention to this object when the attention wanders (MacDonald, 2021)

Mindfulness is an awareness of one’s experience and suffering, and self-compassion is the portion that addresses that suffering
Self-compassion has been described as "being touched by and open to one's own suffering, not avoiding or disconnecting from it, generating the desire to alleviate one's suffering and to heal oneself with kindness” (Neff, 2003). Enhancing self‐compassion can be an effective way to help improve positive mental health.
Mindfulness strategies may reduce factors like emotion dysregulation and cultivate factors such as kindness and the experience of positive emotions Self‐compassion has been linked to emotional awareness and acceptance (Carona et al, 2022)
Begin your mindfulness practice today with simple deep breathing

Three deep breaths all the way to the belly Feel the breath as your presence, ground yourself in the here and now.
Notice Notice how you felt before and how you feel after
There are many guided meditations, and deep breathing exercises on YouTube to try out as you begin your mindfulness practice Experiment with what feels good for you at that time
Notice. Invite compassion in, invite curiosity in. Just Notice.

There I was, standing in HomeSense’s home décor section, completely frozen. I had a rare hour to myself and a gift card burning a hole in my pocket. Yet instead of feeling excited about this small slice of freedom, I felt overwhelmed.
What did I even like anymore?
When was the last time I made a decision that wasn’t influenced by tiny humans?

If you’ve ever found yourself in a similar situation –whether it’s forgetting your favorite hobby or realizing you haven’t listened to your own music in months –you’re not alone The identity shift that comes with motherhood is real, and while it’s beautiful, it can also be disorienting
Motherhood has a way of consuming us entirely One day you’re confidently pursuing your passions, and the next, you’re deep in the trenches of motherhood, barely remembering the last time you had bodily autonomy Your identity becomes wrapped up in feeding schedules, diaper changes, nap schedules and bedtime routines
Don’t get me wrong – being a mother is an incredible gift. But somewhere between the midnight feedings and the endless loads of laundry, many of us lose touch with the woman we were before we earned the title of “Mom.”
Here’s the truth: being “just a mom” isn’t enough – not because motherhood isn’t valuable, but because you are a multifaceted human being with dreams, desires, and interests that deserve attention.
There are many benefits when we maintain our sense of self:
Our children learn that women are whole people with interests and passions
We model healthy boundaries and self-respect
We bring more energy and joy to our parenting
We create a sustainable approach to motherhood that prevents burnout
A quiet 10-minute coffee alone before the house wakes up
A walk around the block while listening to your favorite playlist or podcast
Saying no to one more commitment, even if it’s “just a quick thing”
Letting the kids have screen time so you can sit down and breathe
Reaching out to a friend or community (like The Balanced Mom Community) who get it
One of my own simple rituals that helps in those really tough moments is counting to 5 It’s honestly a quick and easy practice to make sure that my own emotions don’t add fuel to an already tense situation Those few seconds of pause can be the difference between escalation and calming

Take a moment to reflect on your premom interests
What made you light up?
What conversations got you excited?
These parts of you haven’t disappeared; they’re just waiting to be rediscovered.
You don’t need to sign up for a weekend retreat (though if you can, go for it!).
Start with tiny steps:
Choose one song you love to listen to during drop-offs
Read a non-parenting book for 10 minutes before bed
Wear an outfit that makes you feel like YOU
Remember the HomeSense story? I eventually bought a laundry bin and a journal. They weren’t life-changing purchases, but they were choices I made just for me
That tiny step led to more –rediscovering my love for writing, starting a blog, and eventually creating space in my life for both motherhood and personal growth
Your journey back to yourself might look different, but it matters
You matter
Not just as a mother, but as the complex, interesting, whole person you are.

Join me on Instagram where I help moms find balance, selfcare, and joy in the chaos
Most women don’t realize how much they’ve gotten used to feeling “just okay ” A bra that digs a little, straps that slip, something that technically fits, but not quite right
It’s easy to brush it off because it’s not that bad But when you finally try something that actually fits the way it’s supposed to, the difference is immediate
Better support, smoother lines, no constant adjusting – it’s not dramatic, it’s just better And that “better” has a way of carrying into the rest of your day

t h e p o w e r o f f e e l i n g g

From a fit perspective, this is where things start to “click” When you have the right garments in rotation, bras that are designed for your shape, your lifestyle, and your comfort, you stop working around your wardrobe You’re not choosing outfits based on what might hide discomfort or to make something “work.”
This is why a proper fitting with an expert is pivotal to curating your wardrobes foundations
And that’s really the shift – choosing to feel good first instead of treating it like a bonus Not saving your best bras, not waiting for a reason, not settling for “fine ” Just starting your day with something that actually supports you while also fitting comfortably.
Because when that becomes your baseline, everything else has a way of falling into place

There’s a pace many women slip into without even realizing it It starts as “just a busy season,” then becomes the baseline You wake up already thinking ahead what needs to happen, what could go wrong, what needs your attention first. Even in quiet moments, there’s a part of you still scanning, still planning, still moving forward internally
It can feel like you’re always slightly behind yourself, trying to catch up to the day instead of being inside it
Over time, this way of functioning becomes so familiar that stillness can feel unfamiliar. Not unsafe exactly, just unused
You might notice it in small ways: difficulty fully relaxing, trouble switching off at night, or feeling like you need to “earn” your pause before you allow it This isn’t a mindset problem – it’s a nervous system that has learned to stay ready
This is where support can start to gently interrupt that pattern Tools like the NuCalm app are designed to help signal safety back to the body, creating space for your system to shift out of constant “go mode.”
Instead of forcing a slowdown, it supports your body in remembering what it feels like to not be bracing for what’s next.
Where in my life do I feel like I'm always “on” even when nothing is actively asking that of me?
I support women in finding a more sustainable way to move through life With a deep understanding of the nervous system and a thoughtful blend of sciencebacked tools, my work is centred around bringing gentle awareness to the patterns of stress, fatigue, and constant output so many of us have learned to live with.
My approach to well-being is grounded, supportive, and deeply human, focused on regulation, restoration, and a return to calm
I don’t believe you have to keep pushing to feel better. I believe real support meets you right where you are.

There’s something special about spending time in a space where you immediately feel at ease, where the conversation flows naturally, where you’re welcomed exactly as you are, and where you leave feeling just a little lighter than when you arrived
At Salt & Sage Studio, Lindsay has created exactly that kind of place.
What began as a dream many years ago has grown into something beautifully tangible.
Esthetics has always been part of Lindsay’s story. As a teenager, she worked in her aunt’s salon, carrying with her the quiet hope of one day creating a space of her own.
Over time, that dream became Salt & Sage Studio, a studio built from the ground up with heart, determination, and the simple courage to begin where she stood, using what she had
That grounded beginning is woven into everything she creates today.
Lindsay is an artist at heart, and it shows in her work. There’s a thoughtful creativity behind what she offers: an eye for detail, a natural sense of beauty, and a love for creating something personal for each client who sits in her chair. Her custom nail designs bring that artistry to life in a way that feels expressive, elevated, and uniquely tailored, giving women a chance to wear something that feels beautifully their own.
But what makes Salt & Sage Studio feel memorable goes deeper than beautiful nails.
At the heart of Lindsay’s work is a desire to create a place where women feel welcomed, accepted, seen, and heard; a place to relax, be refreshed, and make genuine connections along the way. In a world that moves quickly, there’s something deeply meaningful about carving out a little space for care, conversation, and creativity.

Salt & Sage Studio is built on that kind of intention.
A little softness.
A little artistry.
A welcoming space to exhale.
And the kind of heart that leaves a lasting impression.

Find something in your room that reminds you of a fun or silly moment.
Q; Why did the robot go on vacation?
A: Because it needed to recharge!
A photo? A souvenir? A drawing? Write down what you remember about it
Bonus: tell someone the story behind it
Sometimes the smallest things bring back the biggest smiles.

Exposure to fewer but more intentional toys can improve a child’s focus and ability to self-direct play?
I’m the founder of The Toy Share (formerly St Albert Toy Share), and I’m so happy you’re here!
As a mom and a lifelong lover of play, I know firsthand how magical it is to watch our little ones discover the world through toys But, I also know how quickly our homes can fill up with outgrown toys, plastic clutter, and guilt over waste
That’s why I created this toy library: to offer families a more intentional, joyful, and sustainable way to play.
The Toy Share is about more than just toys. It’s about connection, community, and creating a simpler path for parents who want to provide enriching experiences without overconsumption Every toy we stock is thoughtfully chosen for its quality, creativity, and developmental value, and every item you borrow helps reduce landfill waste and promote mindful parenting
Whether you’re here out of curiosity, looking to simplify your toy rotation, or wanting to make more eco-conscious choices, I’m truly grateful you’ve found us.
I hope this library brings ease to your parenting journey and lots of giggles to your home
Welcome to a new way to play, I’m so glad you’re part of it
