Page 1

DEAR FRIENDS,

As we reflect on the past year, we are filled with deep gratitude for your unwavering support and belief in HeartGift’s mission. Your generosity has been the cornerstone of our progress, enabling us to reach new milestones, expand our impact locally and globally, and continue providing access to free, life-saving heart surgeries to children around the world lacking access to specialized cardiac care. This annual report is not just a summary of what we have accomplished — it is a celebration of what we have achieved...together!

We are honored to be surrounded by everyday heroes who give so generously of their time, talents, and resources — all in the service of saving lives. To our dedicated medical teams, hospital partners, host families, and volunteers: THANK YOU for your ongoing commitment. To our Board: THANK YOU for inspiring us to think boldly and act swiftly in pursuit of our mission. And to each of you who has contributed financially — your generosity powers our work. Because of all of you, we saved 584 children’s lives in 2024, and we are proud to share those stories of hope, growth, and resilience in the pages ahead.

Looking forward, we are energized by the opportunities that lie ahead and committed to building on this momentum. True, lasting change is only possible because of you. Thank you for being the heart of HeartGift — together, we’re giving thousands of children the chance to grow up and thrive.

EVERY 5 MINUTES A CHILD IS BORN WITH A LIFE-THREATENING HEART DEFECT.

With congenital heart defects being the most common birth defect in the world, more prevalent than a childhood cancer diagnosis, that equates to more than one million children each year. Tragically, only 10% of them have access to specialized medical care. The majority live in rural areas of poverty-stricken, developing countries where medical care is limited at best. If medical care does exist, it is financially out of reach. Without help, these children will die.

HeartGift addresses this disparity by providing access to care to some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

JUST ONE SURGERY CHANGES EVERYTHING

In 2024, HeartGift saved more children in a single year than ever before. Through partnerships with world-class medical facilities in the United States and our global HeartConnect program, 584 children received life-saving heart surgery at no cost to their families. This incredible milestone was made possible by the generosity of our sponsors and the dedication of our volunteers – we are deeply grateful.

INCREASING IMPACT

Our vision is a world where every child with a congenital heart defect has access to the life-saving care they need, and we're driving meaningful change to bring this vision to reality.

From one life-saving surgery in 2000 to 584 in 2024, the growth and transformation of HeartGift is nothing short of extraordinary. Your belief in what was possible — and your commitment to making it real — has changed the trajectory of thousands of lives.

HeartGift provides life-saving surgeries in 11 countries around the world. In addition to welcoming children to our four chapters — in Austin, San Antonio, Louisiana, and Houston — we’re

bringing care closer to families through medical mission trips and in-country programs.

We’re investing in long-term solutions by training local medical teams, building sustainable healthcare systems, and empowering communities to carry this mission forward. We’re equipping in-country professionals not just to perform surgeries, but to lead this life-saving work with skill, confidence, and compassion long after we’ve gone.

Unfortunately, congenital heart defects and lagging medical care in developing countries are not going away...but with your continued support, saving more lives is within our reach.

SURGERY AROUND THE GLOBE

HEARTGIFT HELPS WHERE THE NEED IS GREATEST.

In 2024, HeartGift saved 584 lives — 21 children received surgery in the United States, while 563 were treated closer to home through our expanding global partnerships.

In 2024, HeartGift continued our partnership with four US-based hospitals and expanded our global HeartConnect program to increase access to life-saving cardiac care for children with congenital heart defects and limited access to treatment. We collaborated with local experts in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States, connecting healthcare professionals, volunteers, and resources to create sustainable solutions, expanding access to specialized care worldwide.

Our approach requires multifaceted e orts, which include managing complex logistics, connecting children to expert medical professionals, providing financial support when local facilities are available, and leveraging strategic partnerships to equip hospitals

and medical teams with the proper tools and resources to deliver quality access to care. Our goal is to remove barriers and create sustainable programs that o er long-term solutions and equitable treatment for children in need.

We stand alongside healthcare heroes, sharing knowledge, equipping them with the tools and training to fight congenital heart disease on the front lines, and ensuring that children receive high-quality treatment whether being cared for in the United States or in their home country or a nearby country.

Together, we’re not only saving lives — we’re building legacies of care, and ensuring that impact continues long after we’ve left.
