Dahlia Hill Society of Midland plants 3000 tubers annually, with over 300 unique varieties. This amazing garden is at the corner of Main Street and Orchard Drive in Midland. It has long been an established destination for learning how to grow dahlias, taking photographs, resting from nearby rail trail activities, meeting with others, and enjoying the benefits of a nature setting.
The terraced garden is maintained by a community of volunteers beginning each June. During the blooming months of late summer through the first frost of October, the garden’s incredible tapestry of color is open to the public free of charge, seven days a week from dawn to dusk.
The garden was started in 1992 with tubers donated by Charles Breed and planted on land provided by Bill Fisher. In 1998, Dahlia Hill Society of Midland was established as a nonprofit to maintain and preserve this unique garden. Every growing season, Dahlia Hill’s tubers multiply providing additional tubers to be sold each May. This fundraiser is a coveted event by local
