ABOUT COSYFEET We are a niche footwear business specialising in extra roomy footwear for men and women with very wide or swollen feet. We also provide extra roomy and standard fit socks and hosiery to complement the footwear range. Our holding company is Foot Shop Ltd and we are based in Street, Somerset. Cosyfeet started trading in 1983. It began as a small business selling wide fitting slippers after its original owner spotted a gap in the market for this type of product. In 1991 it was bought by David Price, a former Clarks employee, and he developed it into the UK’s leading supplier of extra roomy footwear, socks and hosiery. In May 2011 the business underwent a management buyout and is now owned by its executive board who have more than 40 years combined experience working within the company. We employ over 80 people at our base in Street. All customer services, order processing, stock control, data management, marketing and fulfilment functions are performed in-house. We don’t manufacture ourselves but we work closely with our suppliers and we own all our own lasts, knives, patterns, moulds and dyes. The Cosyfeet brand is well known and respected. We advertise frequently on television, in national newspapers and in publications such as Radio Times, Saga, Yours and Woman’s Weekly. We also have a very strong relationship with health professionals and over 11,000 of them recommend Cosyfeet products to their patients and clients. We successfully sell via our home shopping catalogues and website to lots of satisfied customers, however some people prefer to buy locally or see and try footwear before purchasing and this is why working with independent retailers as stockists is important to us.

THE MARKET FOR COSYFEET PRODUCTS Our main market is men and women with swollen feet. These individuals can be any age but primarily they are aged 50+, with the greatest proportion being 70+ as swelling affects this group more than others. Our market is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK. Our customers can be found in residential homes, hospitals, nursing homes, day care centres as well as in their own homes. Some of our customers are less mobile and have different needs than those who are more active. As well as needing footwear that is extra wide and deep, they may look for lightness and ease of putting on and taking off. We often hear from customers who, until they discovered Cosyfeet, were unable to leave their home due to a lack of suitable footwear. Our shoes can make a huge difference to people’s independence and quality of life.

ORTHOPAEDIC
Consumers are now fairly knowledgeable about the importance of comfortable footwear and are not so likely to compromise by squeezing their feet into ill-fitting shoes. Any person with wide or swollen feet will tell you how difficult it is to find proper fitting shoes and so are always looking for accommodating footwear.
This group suffers from problems such as bunions and hammer toes resulting in the need for extra roomy footwear and is a potentially huge market.
Many of our customers are likely to suffer from Oedema (fluid retention), which causes the feet and legs to swell.
ARTHRITIC These individuals suffer from a painful condition of the joints and many are affected in the feet and ankles. They are very sensitive to pain, which can be greatly relieved by comfortable, roomy footwear. Please remember, as our footwear is designed for extra wide or swollen feet, our footwear is not suitable for those with arthritis and a narrow foot.
DIABETIC Diabetes affects the circulatory system causing a condition where the person has little or no feeling in their hands and feet. This can cause severe problems if open sores go undetected. It is very important that people with diabetes have soft supportive footwear with carefully placed seams and stitching to avoid rubbing. Many of our styles are produced with this in mind. Although we are diabetic aware, it is important that customers with diabetes make their own judgement regarding suitability or that they ask a medical advisor. We suggest that they run their finger inside any item before wearing it, checking for anything that may harm.
AN INTRODUCTION TO COSYFEET WHOLESALE We have over 350 approved stockists of Cosyfeet products in the UK and a small number overseas. These include mobility retailers, shoe retailers, podiatrists and hospitals. Some stockists have one store and others are part of a group or chain. We have worked with some of our existing stockists for over 20 years. As a stockist you are a re-seller for Cosyfeet and not an agent. It is up to you to decide how little, or how much work you want to put in to develop the enterprise. We do not offer a franchise because selling Cosyfeet footwear on its own would not usually generate enough sales to make a stand-alone living. This is because it is such a specialist market. Goods are purchased from us for resale to the customer. We do operate a returns policy for unwanted orders (there is a small charge for this service). Please see the “Returns” section of this guide for further information. The relationship you have with your customers and your terms and conditions of trade are entirely down to you. Our existing stockists tell us that stocking Cosyfeet increases footfall into their store and can open the door to other products you may be selling such as clothing or healthcare products, mainly due to the brand’s high profile and reputation.
YOUR LOCATION We currently have stockists located across the UK and we also have a few located overseas. Some areas have better coverage and other areas offer great untapped potential. There are successful stockists in traditional high street settings as well as others operating from out of town units that may offer better access, parking and space opportunities.

DECIDING ON WHAT TO STOCK & STOCK AVAILABILITY We will leave it to you to decide what to stock but are happy to guide you if you want us to. The table below contains our recommendations for minimum initial stock of Cosyfeet slippers per store. We aim to maintain good stocks and offer 95% availability on key lines making it easy to top up your stock and meet customer demand as and when required. Orders are fulfilled from our base in Brisbane Australia.
PRICING POLICY
INVOICES & PAYMENT
Our recommended retail prices are shown in both our mail order and catalogues and online. It is up to you to decide what to charge for Cosyfeet products of course.
Credit accounts will be opened on receipt of satisfactory trade references and searches. Credit limits will initially be based on credit searches and once the account is established on average monthly turnover.
The majority of products in the Cosyfeet mail order catalogue and on the Cosyfeet website are available at wholesale prices.
DELIVERY CHARGES & SERVICE AIMS Please see our price list for current delivery charges. Orders received and acknowledged are processed by the warehouse and whenever possible despatched that day. Orders received after 2pm will be shipped the next business day
Invoices are issued (either by email or post) when goods are despatched. Credit terms are strictly 30 days from invoice date. We do offer an early settlement discount of 3.75% if payment is received within 10 days. Payment can be made by debit/credit card, bank transfer or cheque. Accounts that have invoices that are older than 60 days will be placed on stop until all overdue invoices are paid. All goods supplied by Cosyfeet remain our property until paid for in full. All such materials are at the sole risk of the buyer and, in the event of the goods being damaged or destroyed after delivery, Cosyfeet shall be entitled to payment in full. If you do not wish to apply for a credit account your account can be opened on a proforma basis and you can pay by debit/credit card at the time of order (qualifiying for the 3.75% early settlement discount).

We will accept returns of footwear (shoes, sandals, slippers) within 30 days of invoice date. We hope this will encourage you to order in lines for a speci c customer or to test interest. Returned products must be in as new condition and be a current line. You must pay the return carriage and include your account number and the original order number with the returned goods. Returns of old stock, sale items or obsolete lines will not be accepted.
If we have sent the wrong item or an item is damaged on arrival please notify us by phone as soon as possible and within 7 days of delivery. We will advise how to return the item, issue you with a returns number and credit your account if appropriate. No returns will be accepted without prior agreement.
