Message from HealthNet

It’s hard to believe that it was only four years ago that we announced the formation of the HealthNet Foundation at our 50th Anniversary Celebration.

What a pivotal four years it has been! We are thankful for the Foundation’s efforts in helping us expand access to care and provide much needed assistance for our patients, their families and our team members

With the close of 2022, we are preparing for another important milestone in HealthNet’s history – the celebration of our 55th anniversary in 2023. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the HealthNet Foundation and marveling at what we can accomplish together!

Thank you for supporting HealthNet through the HealthNet Foundation.

Sincerely,

Dear Neighbors and Community Partners,

Matthew's Story

A Homeless Client

Matthew earned a living as an elite athlete until he began experiencing injuries that led to the use of multiple medications for pain relief. As a result, he became addicted to the medications leading to a life that began spiraling out of control. The family experienced a loss of income, evictions, and incurred more than $35,000 worth of debt They were homeless with nowhere to go Last year, this family of six: dad (Mathew), mom (Eugene), and their four children walked through the doors of HealthNet’s Homeless Initiative Program (HIP) seeking a solution to their many challenges.

With the help of HIP’s Case Manager, Mathew sobered off the medications, is now seeing a specialist for his long-term injuries, has gained employment making pretty good income, and is goal setting. With your support, the HIP team has been able to help Mathew and his family recover from their loss and provide them with the tools necessary for a successful future.

A special thank you from Matthew:

Thanks again for all that you've done for us, we truly would have never made it back standing on our own without the assistance we've received. Even if we had somehow been able to do so, it would have taken so much longer Sorry for my rambling and this novel I'm sending you, we are just so very thankful that you and your organization have made it possible for us to get a grip on our lives again!

I was in serious trouble mentally when we fortunately somehow become involved with you. As a father and husband who truly cares for and loves his wife and children, it was very hard when we were struggling as badly as we were. It is my responsibility and duty to protect and provide for them, and regardless of intentions, my ability to properly take care of them had virtually disappeared Just being given this opportunity to correct so many aspects of myself, which allowed me the opportunity to truly get our footing back and be in what is quite possibly a better position than ever before. Well, we will be in a better place by the time we have completed this program. We will also have gained so much wisdom and knowledge for life, through some very hard lessons and very positive experiences and relationships gained throughout this time Overall, we are just so very thankful and grateful for all you have done

Looking Ahead

In addition to these ongoing funds, the HealthNet Foundation will focus on several critical areas in 2023 and beyond:

Patient Assistance

We are thankful for the Volunteers in Medicine Patient Assistance Fund, which helps HealthNet Bloomington Health Center patients with medical bills incurred as part of their HealthNet treatment plan that they might not otherwise be able to afford, including off-site diagnostic tests, mammograms, colonoscopies, and specialists’ visits. The fund was created by the Volunteers in Medicine Board of Directors to ensure that no HealthNet Bloomington Health Center patient is forced to choose between their medical care and other necessities of life. It has been so impactful that fundraising efforts are under way to begin a similar fund for patients living in Marion and other counties within HealthNet’s service area.

Employee Assistance

It’s been a challenging time for HealthNet’s 650 health care heroes who care for patients and clients each day In 2023, we will be launching the HealthNet Family Fund to support HealthNet team members who are facing unexpected financial hardships or crisis in their personal lives.

Expansion of HealthNet Services

From the opening of the new HealthNet Speedway Health & Dental Center to the launch of HealthNet’s first in-house pharmacy, the Foundation will be working to support HealthNet’s ongoing expansion efforts to better serve the community.

Message from the HealthNet Foundation

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the HealthNet Foundation Board of Directors, we are excited to share this 2018-2022 Impact Report with you in appreciation of your support. It highlights the many ways the HealthNet Foundation has strengthened the mission and work of HealthNet across Central Indiana by cultivating new friendships, partnerships and philanthropic support over the past four years

Thanks to you:

147 patients received much-needed assistance with emergency medical needs such as medications, food, shelter, medical bills or transportation to and from medical offices. 13 students received scholarships to help them fulfill their goals of post-secondary education.

Dozens of Martindale-Brightwood residents living in the zip code with the highest poverty rate in Marion County received bags of fresh produce through the HealthNet Community Garden and the HealthNet Foundation Community Garden fund.

Residents in underserved neighborhoods in Morgan, Monroe and Marion counties now have access to primary care, behavioral health and free health screenings through the launch of HealthNet’s Mobile Health Center.

Hundreds of men, women, and children experiencing or immediately threatened with homelessness have an ongoing place to turn for assistance with emergency needs

As we begin our fifth year, we look forward to partnering with HealthNet on many exciting initiatives that will make an impact on the health of our communities in 2023 and beyond. Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of families in Indianapolis, Bloomington, and across central Indiana.

In Gratitude,
