CASE STUDY FIRE REMEDIATION

Project: Ashburton Triangle

Client: RCL

Value: £6 4 million

Contract Dates: 52 weeks (mid 2025 completion)

Contract: JCT Design & Build

Summary of works: Ashburton Triangle, part of Arsenal's Emirates Stadium development, underwent fire safety upgrades by RKC. Combustible materials were replaced, cavity barriers installed, and EPDM works verified for compliance

Brief

The Project objective was to remove the existing combustible façade materials and install new A1 rated non-combustible cladding system complete with new weathering details around openings

Scope of works

RKC were engaged as a specialist Rainscreen & Façade contractor to work with the client through the tender process to provide affordable solutions and VE options which still achieve the required fire performance. Through discussions & negotiations

RKC secured the full trip and reclad of the building This included the removal of the existing Zinc panels, Swiss pearl panels, helping hand system, PIR insulation, VCL and perimeter flashings and the installation of new EPDM, VCL, Rockwool insulation, Aluminium helping hand system, fire barriers & new Aluminium shiplap cladding panels.

Project: Mega House, Petts Wood

Summary of works: RKC refurbished an ageing building façade using an aluminium helping hand system and folded cassettes

The project included curtain walling installation at the entrance, new windows across the building, and roofing works for a rooftop extension, while overlaying the existing roof with matching materials.

The work also included the installation of curtain walling at the entrance and replacement of windows.Additionally, roofing works were completed for a new rooftop extension, alongside overlaying the existing roof with materials meeting the same specifications Aluminium panels provided aesthetic and functional improvements by offering thermal insulation, reducing energy costs, and supporting diverse architectural applications

The project encompassed the full design, supply, and installation of Rockpanel panels, Rockwool Duoslab insulation, and supporting components Fire safety measures, including fire barriers and TYVEK Firecurb VCL, were also integral to the scope of works. The result was a visually stunning and highly functional rainscreen system, providing both aesthetic appeal and practical protection.
