“True belonging and self-worth are
HEALING THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS
not goods; we don’t negotiate their value with the world. The truth about who we are lives in our hearts. Our call to courage is to protect our wild heart against constant evaluation, especially our own. No one belongs here more than you.” -Brené Brown

With Courage, Compassion, and Connection
“More than anything, I wished someone would check in on me and ask if I was doing okay.” -Listening Session Participant We at Healing Justice know that while the holidays can bring such joy and excitement, they can also cause increased stress and feelings of isolation and loss. Our hope is that these reminders serve as a source of encouragement and support during this season, and that you will remember that Healing Justice is a place where you belong, you are valued, and you are enough. We are cheering you on this holiday season.
SETTING BOUNDARIES YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOICE Trust your intuition and make choices that are right for you. RECOGNIZE YOUR TRIGGERS Be curious about how your mind and body respond and make space for yourself as needed. HONOR YOUR FEELINGS It’s okay to not feel joyful. Release guilt and nurture authenticity. PRACTICE SELF-KINDNESS Recognize your inner resources and allow yourself to be unburdened from expectations. SEEK SUPPORT Pursue the things that give you life. Laugh, sing, and dance. Play and rest.
The most compassionate people have the strongest boundaries. During times of increased stress, boundaries are one of the best ways you can show yourself love, kindness, and support. WHEN TO USE BOUNDARIES Compliance is valued over choice. You are expected to sacrifice your own needs. There is little respect for differences There is shame or humiliation. QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF How can I feel safe and valued? Am I worried about what other people think of me? How do I treat myself with respect? Am I embraced for who I am?
