CORINTHIAN CLASSIC YACHT REGATTA Marblehead August 7 th through August 9 th , 2020

The Corinthian Classic Yacht Regatta - Hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club –the first event in the 2020 Classic Yacht Challenge Series .

RULES: Racing will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the rules of the 2020 Classic Yacht Series, except as altered by the Sailing Instructions. This is a Category A event. Races will be conducted using a pursuit race format (www.classicyachts.org/series).

ENTRY: The entry fee is $150: for entries received after August 3 rd add $25. Entries can be made on line at www.corinthianclassic.org.

SKIPPERS MEETING: There will be a Skippers' Meeting on Saturday, August 8 at 0930 at Corinthian Yacht Club where Sailing Instructions, any Amendments and Scratch Lists will be distributed.

RACE SCHEDULE: One race is scheduled on Saturday and one race on Sunday for all classes with the warning signal no earlier than 1200.

COURSES: To be distributed at the Skippers’ meeting and posted on the RC boat, plus announced over the VHF working channel to be announced at the Skippers’ meeting.

DIVISIONS:. There are four Divisions for both the CCYR and the Classic Yacht Challenge Series. Vintage yachts designed before 1950, Classic yachts after 1950, Modern Classics designed before 1975 and Spirit of Tradition yachts typically designed after 1975. Classic One Design yachts (IOD, BB25, Shields, etc.) are encouraged with four or more boats. All boats in any given division/class will sail under the CRFMK II ratings system. Any entry may sail with a Spinnaker under their CRF Mark II rating.

RACING AREA & START: Off Marblehead with the start in the vicinity of Marblehead mid-channel Bell “FR”Bell. Races will be started in accordance with RRS 26. All marks, except starting and finishing marks and a portable weather mark will be government buoys or navigational aids.

SCORING: Yachts will be scored under the Classic Rating Formula (CRF Mk II) yacht handicap measurement rule (www.classicyachts.org/ratings/certificates). For both the CCYR and Classic Yacht Challenge Series scoring the High Point Percentage Scoring system will be used to score both the CCYR and the Series..

PRIZES: Trophies for the Corinthian Classic will be awarded to First, Second and Third Place finishers in each division. The W. Starling Burgess Trophy will be awarded to the overall winner of the CCYR. Awards for the .Classic Yacht Challenge Series will be awarded after the conclusion of the Series in accordance with the terms found in the Notice of Series (www.classicyachts.org/series)

SOCIAL ACTIVITY: All skippers and crew are invited to share in the facilities of the Corinthian Yacht Club during Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday, August 7 – 9, 2020. There will be a dinner and enterta inment on Saturday; and an awards party on Sunday follow the race.
