4 — TRACY COMMUNITY
Tracy EDA welcomes you... Welcome to the city of Tracy! Tracy, MN, is a beautiful Southwest Minnesota community ďŹ lled with positive and friendly people. Whether you are here for business, vacation, or have lived here for years, we welcome you and hope you “enjoy the rideâ€? while you are here. Tracy has something for everyone. Choose from our local dining and shopping options, or enjoy a day at our country club practicing your swing. The Wheels Across the Prairie Museum is a must-see destination for those who love history. There are also multiple parks, a bike/walking trail, campground and a state-of-the-art aquatic center which includes a zero-entry splash pool and waterslides.  We are extremely proud of our local K-12 school system which includes both public and parochial schools. Our community places a high value on education and strongly supports the schools, their staff, and extracurricular activities. We are an agricultural-based community with a rich history and a progressive view for the future. The options here are limitless. Our recently-remodeled Sanford Hospital and Clinic serve the medical needs of our community. A newly awarded DEED grant will revitalize homes throughout the town. New housing additions are underway, along with new industrial and retail development. The Economic Development Authority of Tracy works to ensure a healthy economic climate for the City of Tracy.  Enjoy our beautiful community. Relax and take in a beautiful sunset over the prairie or visit us over Labor Day to celebrate the “World’s Only Box Car Days.â€? Tracy is a great place to visit, but an even better place to live and raise a family. Sincerely,Â
- Jeff Carpenter, EDA Director

TRACY COMMUNITY – 7
Tracy Development Corporation In less than two years since the formation of Tracy Development Corporation (TDC) a variety of activities have kept the organization’s volunteer board busy. The non-profit organization devotes their time to fostering new or expanding businesses, development of properties, enlarging the membership base by their financial support, holding forums about improved broadband for the community and other informational meetings - all with the ultimate goal of adding more jobs, an increased tax base - with enlarged economic activity within the Tracy community. Recently, in conjunction with other entities in the city, the TDC helped nurture an expanding pet treat company from New Hampshire, Chasing our Tails, to re-locate in Tracy, together with other operations in SW Minnesota. This enterprise has and will continue to refurbish facilities for its ambitious plans of expanding operations as it sells products nationally. Currently several other properties that were acquired and marketed by TDC are in the final stages of acquisition by new businesses. Since forming TDC in October 2017, financial support, by a growing membership, has come from individuals and businesses in the Tracy area, while former residents generously contribute monetarily, too.
Tracy Development Corporation tours the old Tracy Bottling building.
Jim Keul, president of TDC, expressed gratitude by the board for the many contributors who have been a part of this short-term growth. He also acknowledged how vital and fortunate the TDC is for the teamwork within the City of Tracy by the council, EDA board and others who recognize the importance of economic growth – as part of the TDC mission. Individuals or companies interested in business assistance or that would like to help TDC financially are encouraged to contact Keul or refer to its website, www. tracydevelopment.org to become better acquainted with the organization or the other board members.

Tracy Area Chamber The Tracy Area Chamber of Commerce really focuses on serving Tracy and the surrounding communities! We try to host a multitude of different events that cater to many different ages and demographics. The Chamber also tries to space these events throughout the year to beneďŹ t community members! Our annual events that take place currently include the following; The Tracy Area Chamber of Commerce has its Annual Banquet either at the end of January or the beginning of February each year. We celebrate the community members and the previous year’s success. There are many awards given out that evening which include; Farmer of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Boss of the Year, Chamber Member of the Year, and the Diamond Award. This is a great night to recognize all the hard work community members have put back into the community of Tracy. The Prairie Women’s Expo is a vendor show that is held in April each year; the show has taken place for 13 years and the committee works all year long to make sure the next show is just a little bit better than the previous year! One fun event that generally happens mid-July is Night Golf! This event takes place at the Tracy Country Club and is a fundraiser for the Chamber. It’s a lot of fun to attempt golďŹ ng in the dark with balls that illuminate! Another big event for the Chamber is the Tracy Area Car & Motorcycle Show. This show is mid- to late July and usually takes place in Central Park. This is open to everyone and registration takes place on the day of the show. There is always food, music, and fun had at this event! The largest event for the Chamber is Box Car Days. Box Car Days is always held on Labor Day weekend and is huge for Tracy and surrounding communities! It is a CHAMBER continued on page 12

Chamber director Our last event of the year takes place Thanksgiving weekend and is an all-day event. The Chamber, along with Chamber businesses, sponsors photos with Santa, and a Parade of Lights! Organizations, businesses and families dress up in illuminating outfits and walk through downtown while spectators enjoy hot cocoa and some glow sticks.
All of these events wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and support from the dedicated committee members, the committed Chamber Members and the supporting community we have here in Tracy.

Why build your business in Tracy? Chasing Our Tails was established in December of 2009 in New Hampshire. We are the premier manufacturer of U.S. made, U.S. sourced dehydrated treats, freeze-dried treats, smoked bones, antler chews, and odorless bully sticks. When we decided to build our new plant, we had to consider many factors: location to raw materials, distance of inbound and outbound shipments, and space to expand. We came to southwest Minnesota as a result of a relationship with one of our meat brokers; we decided to stay because of the warm welcome that Tracy provided. Tracy has the infrastructure, private and public economic organizations, and capacity to handle a mid-sized corporation like ours. The citizens of the town have come out in a uniďŹ ed force to help us transition to this area. The ability to have access and genuine help from the city officials, ďŹ rst responders and contractors, has fast tracked our being a part of the community. Agriculture The highways, county roads and dusty backroads of southwest Minnesota are surrounded by corn and soybean fields — reminders that the Tracy area is part of an agriculture-based region that appreciates its hardworking farm families. At the heart of farming operations in Tracy is CHS, a farmer-owned cooperative that has worked to help America’s farmers be more successful since 1929. CHS Tracy, on 301 South Street, is one of 10 locations in Minnesota, to go along with 10 in South Dakota and one in Nebraska.
