The longtime frontman for industrial metal superstars White Zombie, Rob Zombie was born Robert Bartleh Cummings on January 12, 1966, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, forming the group soon after moving to New York City circa 1985. He subsequently worked as a bike messenger, porn magazine art director, and production assistant for the classic children's TV series Pee Wee's Playhouse, concurrently leading White Zombie through a series of cultfavorite indie releases; the success of their 1992 major-label debut, La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1, not only launched Zombie to new prominence within the music industry, but also allowed him to try his hand at animation and directing. He was slated to helm the third chapter of The Crow franchise, working from his own screenplay, but Miramax Films eventually pulled out of the deal.

Zombie LiveAfter a stint as director and co-writer of the 2007 remake of Halloween, Zombie Live, his first live album, was released in October 2007, the same month that he began an arena tour with Ozzy Osbourne. The release of his next studio album was pushed back due to Zombie's involvement with Halloween II and in 2010, Zombie released Hellbilly Deluxe 2, his first solo album written with the help of his band (which featured John 5 and Piggy D.).

Intended as a sequel to his breakout solo debut, it was supported by Zombie's first world tour in a decade. Another remix album, Mondo Sex Head, arrived in 2012 and included reworkings from his back catalog by producers like Photek and the Bloody Beetroots.

Venomous Rat Regeneration VendorIn early 2013, Zombie returned with his fifth studio album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, which would be Zombie's lowest-selling album to date, despite its Top Ten Billboard debut.

No. I didn’t know anyone who played an instrument, or even owned one. No one in my family even seemed to like music that much.

I discovered music through watching the TV, because most of the shows had a musical theme – like The Monkees, or cartoons like The Groovy Ghoulies or The Archies. It didn’t matter what the goofy characters were, they always had a rock band – like The Banana Splits.

Terrible. I thought school was incredibly boring and I hated it. I couldn’t sit still, I couldn’t focus.

I would always stay up really late at night because I wanted to watch movies on TV, so I would fall asleep in school all the time. I was dead on my feet all day long. did your pa re n t s p ush you on e duc ation

Not so much, no. I did graduate high school, though, because in my last couple of years I figured out an incredible scam. Essentially I shouldn’t have graduated, but I realised that if I signed up for many, many art classes I could get my grades up enough to graduate. Basically I went to school, signed in and then left and did other stuff all day long. I just made sure that all my artwork got turned in. I got straight A grades in art and I got perfect grades for attendance, although I was never there. Nobody was paying attention, so I got away with it.

At some point I got a guitar, maybe when I was in kindergarten. Then I did what so many people do: you find a couple of other guys with instruments and you start a band. I picked bass and my other friend picked drums. My highschool band went nowhere because we all got sick of each other, so apart from that, my first band was White Zombie. when

We started in 1985 and we were a bunch of people who could only play our instruments a bit, and like any band the members would change every five minutes. That’s just the way it goes. We were always serious, but it took a couple of years until anyone even remotely gave a shit at all, and I mean on a really tiny level. There was a New York scene that White Zombie got connected to – a sort of art-rock scene, that Sonic Youth were the kings of – and other bands like Pussy Galore were in there too. It was cool, we felt like we had a tiny home, at [legendary NYC club] CBGBs anyway. when

It wasn’t until we signed to Geffen and had a hit with La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1 [1992] that we felt like we were a success. Before that no one gave a shit: that album changed everything, almost overnight. I was working as a bike messenger in New York City, which is the worst job ever, as far as I’m concerned. It keeps you in shape, but otherwise it sucks. After that I got a job at a TV production house as a production assistant on [CBS kid’s show] Pee-wee’s Playhouse, and that was

pretty good. After that job finished I did graphic design on porno magazines.

how did you get into directing films

That was something I always wanted to do, but coming from where I came from, I had no clue how to make that dream come true. I first started directing White Zombie videos and my solo videos, and then I did them for Ozzy and Black Label Society and other bands, and over time directing videos became my crash course in film-making. I’d always studied movies and read about them obsessively since I was a little kid, and then I got a chance to make one, so I took it and ran with it. w o u l d yo u e v e r m o v e away f r o m d i r e c t i n g horror movies into other genres

Sure. The first one I did [House Of 1000 Corpses, 2003] was a horror movie, but I didn’t want to make another horror movie when the sequel came along, so I went out of my way to make it look and feel different. I wanted to make it feel like a postmodern Western, and ever since then there have been other projects that I’ve wanted to get off the ground. But the problem is, once you have success in one area, you get branded with that. Someday I’ll make some other types of films. I just love making movies, although getting the money to make them is so fucking hard that saying no to someone who is offering you money to make one seems psychotic. w h at

The movie business is much more difficult than the music business, because it’s about bigger money. If you want to operate on a big level and have your movie in lots of theatres all around the world, the amount of money it takes to get those things done is insane. Even a low-budget movie costs $15-20million. If you asked someone to give you $15million to make a record, they’d be like, “Fuck you!”

House of 1000 Corpses is a 2003 American exploitation horror film written, co-scored and directed by Rob Zombie in his directorial debut. The film stars Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon, and Karen Black as members of the Firefly family. Set on Halloween, the film sees the Firefly family torturing and mutilating a group of teenagers who are traveling across the country writing a book. Initially filmed in 2000, House of 1000 Corpses was purchased by Universal Pictures; thus, a large portion of it was filmed on the Universal Studios backlots.

Zombie worked with Scott Humphrey on the score of the film. House of 1000 Corpses featured a graphic amount of blood and gore as well as controversial scenes involving masturbation and necrophilia. The project was ultimately shelved by the company prior to its release due to fears of an NC-17 rating. Zombie later managed to re-purchase the rights to the work, eventually selling it to Lions Gate Entertainment. The film received a theatrical release on April 11, 2003, nearly three years after filming had concluded. Zombie later directed the film’s sequel, The Devil’s Rejects (2005), in which the Firefly family are on the run from the police. Zombie directed 3 from Hell, the sequel to The Devil’s Rejects, which was released in 2019.

Among film critics, House of 1000 Corpses received a generally negative reaction following its release. The film was critically panned, with critics disapproving of the film’s various sideplots and main cast. The film earned over $3 million in its opening weekend, and went on to gross over $16 million worldwide. Despite its initial negative reception, the film went on to develop a cult following. Zombie later developed a haunted house attraction for Universal Studios Hollywood based on the film.

It soon becomes apparent to the youths that the family intends to use them for a series of grisly Halloween rituals later and while the Ruggsville police and Denise’s father, who is an ex cop, begin a vain search attempt, the couples learn more about the legend of Doctor Satan than they would have ever cared to know. Youngsters never thought they would stepped on the path of no return.

The Devil’s Rejects is a 2005 American horror film written and directed by Rob Zombie, and the sequel to his 2003 film House of 1000 Corpses. The film is centered on the run of three members of the psychopathic antagonist family from the previous film, now seen as villainous protagonists, with Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Zombie’s wife Sheri Moon Zombie reprising their roles, with Leslie Easterbrook replacing Karen Black as the matriarch.

The Devil’s Rejects

The film was released on July 22, 2005, to minor commercial success and mixed but more positive reviews over its predecessor. At the time of release and in the years since, the film has garnered a cult following. This is the final film of Matthew McGrory before his death (although McGrory did have an uncredited posthumous cameo in 2017’s The Evil Within, which was filmed in 2002). The film’s DVD release is dedicated to his “loving memory”.

Seven months after the events in House of 1000 Corpses, the Texas State Police start making a full-scale attack against the murderous Firefly family residence for the 1,000+ murders and disappearances that they have caused over the previous several years. Tiny is MIA, Rufus is killed and Mother Firefly is taken into custody. But two of the family members (Otis B. Driftwood and Baby) escape. The duo seek refuge at a run-down hotel, where they brutally torture, molest, and murder two couples before meeting up with Baby’s father Captain Spaulding. In doing so, they evade a massive Texas Ranger dragnet, as well as a group of equally murderous bounty hunters led by Sheriff John Quincey Wydell, whose brother was killed by Mother Firefly in the last movie. Wydell wants to avenge his brother’s death, and the countless other victims of the Fireflys, but slowly loses his sanity continuing his chase against the killers. The surviving Firefly clan gather at a whorehouse owned

by Captain Spaulding’s brother by adoption, Charlie Altamont, where he offers them shelter from the police.

Charlie is pressured by Wydell to give the Rejects up. The sheriff takes the family back to the Firefly house where he proceeds to torture them in ways not unlike the ways they tortured their own victims; among them are nailing Otis’s hands to his chair, and tormenting Baby over the death of her mother (whom Wydell killed earlier). He lights the house on fire and leaves Otis and Spaulding to burn while taking Baby outside to torture her. Charlie Altamont returns to save his family, but is brutally axed

by Wydell. It is only the last minute intervention of Tiny that saves the Firefly family.

The Rejects are saved and share a brief tearful reunion. Tiny decides to go back into the burning house to die alone and Otis, Baby and Spaulding escape in Charlie’s car. The film’s final scene has the trio driving into the middle of a police barricade, with no sound heard except Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Freebird. As the tempo of the last portion of the song increases, they grab their guns and go forward in a final blaze of glory before being shot by the police.

While it is assumed the trio died at the end of the film, photos from 3 From Hell show all three characters alive.

plot summary

In Salem, Massachusetts, Heidi, a recovering drug addict, works as a DJ at a hard rock station with her co-workers Whitey and Munster. She receives a strange wooden box containing an album by a band named The Lords. At her apartment, she and Whitey listen to the record, which is a series of string and woodwind instruments playing several notes, then repeating itself. Heidi has a vision of women who worship Satan, at an unspecified time in the past, ritually birthing a baby then damning the child. The vision stops once Whitey turns the record off.

The next day, Heidi interviews Francis Matthias, who has written a book about the Salem witch trials. The station then plays the Lords' record, which causes all of the women in Salem to enter a trance. After the show is over, Matthias tells his wife that the band's name, The Lords, bothers him. That night, Heidi's landlord, Lacy, insists that Heidi split a bottle of wine with her and her sisters, Sonny and Megan. Megan, a palm reader, tells Heidi she's fated to succumb to her dark sexual desires: "the only reason you exist". Disturbed, Heidi leaves the party. Later, Heidi notices her dog is acting strangely. She enters the supposedly vacant apartment 5 and experiences visions of a demon and a nude witch which commands she "bleed us a king".

Heidi's radio station announces they will be giving away tickets to the upcoming Lords of Salem concert, and the record is played again, which causes Heidi to have more strange visions that disturb her. plot summary

During Halloween 1976, a group of carnival workers, Charly, Venus, Panda, Levon and Roscoe gleefully travel through the countryside.

Later that night, the group is attacked by people disguised as scarecrows and taken to a strange, large building where three elderly people wearing aristocratic clothes, powdered wigs and make up — known as Sister Dragon, Sister Serpent and their leader, Father Napoleon-Horatio-Silas Murder — tell them that they are going to play the game “31” and that it will last for the next 12 hours. The group is placed in a series of maze-like set of rooms, where they must defend themselves against the “Heads”, several murderous clowns who intend to torture and murder them, all the while the group are given odds for their survival and bets are placed on them.

Now, you may think you see a greasepainted performer sitting before you. But trust me - I’m not here to brighten your dismal day; I am here to end your miserable life. You know, all in all, you’ve had a pretty good run, but deep down inside you must’ve known it all had to end somewhere - might as well be now.

The protagonists come across five “Heads”: Sick-Head, Psycho-Head, Schizo-Head, DeathHead and Sex-Head. The carnies eventually manage to kill their assailants, but not without sustaining their own casualties, with only Charly, Venus and Roscoe left alive. The remaining three try to find a way out, but only manage to get one of their number – Venus – trapped inside a boiler room, where she is brutally murdered by the final Head, DoomHead, who was brought in by the aristocrats to join the game. Doom-Head taunts Charly and Roscoe, telling them that the doors have been opened to the outside world.

The two manage to make it to one of the exits, however Roscoe urges Charly to go on without him, as the night’s event has left him too severely wounded to progress. Roscoe is then stabbed to death by Doom-Head. Charly, who made it outside but found herself in the middle of nowhere, makes her way into an abandoned house where she is ambushed by Doom-Head.

He almost defeats her, however Doom-Head is stopped by the aristocrats, who tell him that time has run out and Charly must go free. The aristocrats are concerned that Charly is the first person to win “31”. This doesn’t satisfy Doom-Head; later he catches up with Charly, who is covered in blood and headed down an isolated road. He alights from a van and takes out his daggers as he and Charly prepare for one last confrontation as the film ends, leaving their fates unknown.

plot summary

Our film festival, Doing the Devil’s Work, will center around presenting interactions and conflicts between ordinaries and outlaws, yet revealing the horror of humanity. In films of Rob Zombie, evilness is everywhere that sometimes may disguise beneath seemingly innoncents.

“I like when violence seems real and I like when it seems ugly. I like when the act doesn’t seem fun,” Rob Zombie once said in an interview, “I was never a fan of ’80s slasher movies. I think they are cartoony and silly. I was more into the violence in movies like Taxi Driver, The Wild Bunch, and Bonnie and Clyde. The violence in those films makes a statement in some way.

You know what I mean? It’s saying something.

And it’s either brutal, or depressing, or it’s real.

Rob Zombie is known as the heavy metal and horror icon. At the opening night, we welcome all of our guests to attend a Sideshow Costume Gala. It’s time to wear your most fabulous circus look and join the party.

On the second day of the festival, the 10th, the openning event will be a lecture by Rob Zombie to introduce his experience and thoughts through his filmmaking and music career. There will be designated Q&A time. If you would like to say hi and bring up your thoughts, please join us. Only limited seats are available, so come in early if you are interested.

At the closing night, Rob Zombie will bring in his band members, John 5, Piggy D, and Ginger Fish for a live show. If you are a fan of his music, you may not want to miss this. You may purchase reserved seats on our website.

A themed haunted house attraction will be open throughout the entire festival. It will be upgraded from his hauted house attraction from the Universal Studio Horror Nights.
