SENIOR CENTER MEETINGS Have a say in the activities of your community! The Luisa, Pasatiempo, Ventana de Vida and Villa Consuelo Senior Centers hold regular monthly meetings, open to all seniors. Interested seniors are invited to participate in the meetings to help select and plan for centers. For more information about meetings at the Luisa, Pasatiempo and Villa Consuelo Senior Centers please contact Cristina Villa at 505-955-4725 or cavilla@santafenm.gov. For information about the meetings at Ventana de Vida Senior Center please contact Albert Chavez at 505-955-4715 or wachavez@santafenm.gov. SENIOR CENTER REGISTRATION If you are age 60 or over, please come in to the Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center and register to become a member. Enrolling as a member and printing your name on our activity sheets and meal sheets any time you participate helps our programs to secure funding, which allows us to continue providing services to the older adult population. Membership reassessments are done annually, so pay close attention to the expiration date listed on your senior membership card. Please return to the MEG Senior Center at that time to have staff update/reassess you for another year. If you’re not yet a member come visit us today and start utilizing our wonderful services! For more information, please contact Brenda Ortiz at 505-9554722, bmortiz@santafenm.gov or Cristy Montoya at 505-955-4721, cjmontoya@ santafenm.gov. SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM (SCP) This program offers seniors age 55 and over opportunities to serve as companions and/or caregivers for lonely/isolated/frail senior citizens. Senior Companions provide 20 hours of companionship per week, serving frail homebound elderly and offering emotional support to seniors with disabilities, who are lonely, or who have been neglected or abused. Income-eligible Senior Companions receive modest tax-free stipends, reimbursement for transportation and meals during service, annual physical examinations and free supplemental insurance while on duty. For more information or to schedule an assessment, contact Melanie Montoya at 505-955-4761, mmmontoya@

santafenm.gov or Romella Glorioso-Moss at 505-955-4744, rsglorioso-moss@santafenm.gov. 50+ SENIOR OLYMPIC PROGRAM This program provides men and women age 50 and over with physical activities as well as an opportunity to share friendship with their peers city-wide. Senior Olympic athletes participate within their own age category in athletic and recreational events. This program is designed to further motivate seniors to participate in year-round wellness activities, which heighten their physical and mental fitness. For more information, please contact Cristina Villa at 505-955-4725 or 505-795-3817, cavilla@santafenm.gov. SPECIAL EVENTS Many special events are coordinated each year. Senior centers host dances, cook outs, birthday celebrations, emergency preparedness events, seminars and holiday events. For more information about events at the Luisa, Pasatiempo and Villa Consuelo Senior Centers please contact Cristina Villa at 505-955-4725 or cavilla@santafenm. gov. For information about events at the Mary Esther Gonzales and Ventana de Vida Senior Centers please contact Albert Chavez at 505-955-4715 or wachavez@ santafenm.gov. TRANSPORTATION Door-to-door transportation services are provided to seniors age 60 and over Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Rides include but are not limited to: grocery stores, doctor appointments, senior centers, movie theaters, etc., although medical appointments are given priority over all other rides. Transportation reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance before 4:00 p.m., and can be scheduled up to five business days prior. There is a suggested donation of $.50 per ride, or clients may purchase a ride ticket for 25 rides for a suggested donation of $10, which saves the client $2.50. Please note that on the first Tuesday of each month, the last call for a ride is at 2:45 p.m. due to mandatory staff training. For more information or to schedule a ride please contact the Senior Transportation Dispatch Line at 505-955-4700 or contact Linda Quesada-Ortiz at 505-955-4756, lmquesada@santafenm.gov.

creati ng a commu nity of care

Coming Home Connection offers all levels of non-medical in-home care, including elderly and post-operative, disability or end-of-life services, from one-offs to 24/7s and everything in-between. We strive to make good matches between clients and caregivers, as needs, skills and personalities vary. We match trained CAREGIVER ‘FRIENDS’ to work with people who have dementia, to allow family or other primary caregivers regular time off from the demands of looking after a loved one with dementia.

A free service, loaning out donated medical equipment such as wheelchairs, transfer chairs, walkers, disposable underwear, surgical gloves and other items until no longer needed.
