his holiday season you can show friends and family you think they’re special in two simple but heartwarming ways.
1. Don’t just send any old card or gift. First, consider to whom you are sending the greeting card. Would they like to receive a cute seasonal card or one with a religious theme? Would they prefer a traditional winter landscape or a light-hearted Christmas image. Is it for a friend or for family? Is the recipient single or married with children? Is the gift for a man or a woman? Does it reflect their special interests or lifestyle? If they’re busy, a desk calendar could be useful. If the gift is for a child, how about a puzzle? Or maybe a birthday book for the friend who always forgets birthdays. Next, get the kind that doubles as a beautiful way to help others, such as the cards, calendars, wrapping paper, puzzles and books featuring reproductions of unique, original paintings created by a group of special artists. These are the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists (MFPA). The worldwide for-profit organization is owned and run by its disabled artists and enables them to earn their living by selling direct to the public. One of those talented painters, Mariam Paré, was recently on a tour of North America demonstrating her mouth painting skills at museums and art galleries and giving art classes to disabled children. Paré became a quadriplegic while an art student, when she accidently took a bullet to the back in gun crossfire at age 20. She then retaught herself to paint again by holding a brush in her mouth. Today, her paintings reflect her love of art and the freedom of expres-

sion it brings to her life. Her works have been exhibited widely and can be found in numerous private art collections. While she was in New York, she appeared on “The Today Show” with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford and presented them with a portrait. 2. When you send the card and gift, include a personal, handwritten message. It doesn’t have to be a whole Christmas letter, though that can be delightful, too. Just a personalized good wish from you to yours that carries the warmth of the season. Available Online If you’d like to purchase the Mariam Paré card or select from a wide range of other cards and thoughtful gifts, visit the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists website, www.mfpausa.com or call (877) MFPA-USA. -NAPSI
How To Keep Cozy When You’re Out In The Cold
H
ere’s hot news: While extreme cold weather can be dangerous, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and can lead to hypothermia, frostbite and trench foot, you don’t have to suffer through it, even if you spend a lot of time outdoors in the colder months. That’s because you can get battery-operated hand, foot and pocket warmers to keep you cozy when it’s cold out. They make great gifts for the holidays, to show the warmth of your affection on Valentine’s Day, or at any time. Outdoor enthusiasts of all sorts, outdoor workers, football fans, skiers and ice-skaters can keep their toes, hands and other parts cozy for a few hours or a full day. These high-tech, wireless, battery operated products can keep you warm no matter what you’re doing out in the cold. For convenience as well as comfort for your feet, ThermaCELL Heated Insoles have three temperature settings that are controlled by a wireless remote for easy adjustment without removing your shoes. It’s designed to hang from belt, key chain or zipper and is small enough for your pocket.
You can fix the temperature on the insoles remotely from Medium (100° F) to High (111° F) to no heat. They are equipped with high-tech wireless thermal technology and will last well over 500 charges. They come in five sizes and can be trimmed to fit most types of boots and shoes, from women’s size 4.5 to a men’s size 13. The ProFLEX version even has a rechargeable, removal battery covered in Poron, an antimicrobial, shockabsorbing cushion. You simply pull out the old one and put in the spare. The small (for hands) and large (for pockets) ThermaCELL Heat Packs have three temperature settings reaching 116° F. Put them inside your gloves, pocket, hand muff, hat—or any place that could use some warmth. Unlike disposable, air-activated hand warmer packets, they provide constant, regulated warmth. An LED light indicates the temperature setting. Advanced heat sensors maintain consistent temperature for up to six hours per charge and recharge hundreds of times. The heat packs have lithium-ion polymer batteries that fully recharge in less than four hours and are completely wireless, requiring no external straps or battery packs. They are water resistant and protected against moisture and perspiration. -NAPSI
