If you’re like most people, a frustrating online password process has put you in a bad mood. In fact, according to a recent Aware survey, more than half of consumers report that having to go through a password reset process has negatively impacted their mood—or even their day—while two out of three actively avoid or dread irritating password reset processes.
“Password rage” describes what happens after someone has endured too much password-related stress or fatigue, such as having to remember different (and long) passwords for every account; being locked out of an account; or having to reset a password or set up a new passwordbased account in order to purchase something online. Unfortunately, password rage can drive people to extremes, with more than half of consumers noting they have given up on purchasing a product or service because they couldn’t remember their password.
Common reactions to password rage include yelling at a partner/ spouse/roommate or children; binge eating or drinking; and taking a nap. With such negative consequences, what can be done to minimize the risk and negative impacts of password rage??
The best thing to do when suffering from password rage is to walk away from the computer and distract yourself until the anger subsides. Take a walk or a deep breath, and try again later.
Longer-term, however, you may wish to come up with some new processes or proactive workarounds. Perhaps the best solution is to not use passwords altogether, opting for a method with much higher security, such as biometrics—which authenticate individual people through their faceprint, voiceprint, fingerprints or iris scan for superior convenience and security. The survey showed an overwhelming willingness among consumers to replace passwords with biometrics for most popular online services.
If that’s not possible, try to avoid forgetting your passwords in the first place. Come up with a few complex variations of the same password that would be easy for you to remember, but difficult for a hacker to guess. If you absolutely must write this password down, keep it in a sealed, unmarked
envelope or a locked desk drawer.?
Alternatively, consider using a password manager (which generates strong passwords and stores them all in one encrypted place, alleviating the burden of having to remember individual passwords for every account) or a spreadsheet to keep track of all your passwords. However, as the recent LastPass hack unfortunately demonstrated, these aren’t necessarily the safest or most viable option. What if you forget the password to your password manager or the spreadsheet gets deleted? That would be an easy way to reignite your password rage.?
As long as passwords are the most common way to secure online accounts, the threat of password rage will be here to stay, since people increasingly rely on online services and mobile apps.

If any of the approximately 74 million schoolchildren in the U.S. is someone you care about, here’s something you may want to look into: According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), visual health can have a great influence on students’ academic performance. Visual disorders, the NIH says, are one of the best predictors of educational success.
The eye is literally an extension of the brain. It is estimated that more than 60% of the brain has some duties associated with vision input, the American Optometric Association points out. Because of this, any condition that hampers vision or the processing of vision may result in learning problems. When diagnosed and treated early, however, most individuals have a better chance of learning efficiently.
That’s one reason the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force recommends children between the ages of 3 and 5 get vision screening to reveal problems that may lead to blindness without early treatment.
So, many students, teachers, and parents may be glad to learn about an improved way to test children’s vision.
A handheld, portable device called the Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener by Baxter has been designed to help quickly and easily detect the risk factors of amblyopia and other vision issues in children as young as six months, all done from a non-invasive, three-foot distance. A bright touchscreen displays instant results, indicating whether measurements are in range or a complete eye exam is recommended.
The machine objectively measures refractive errors and alignment between the eyes, which helps identify six risk factors of amblyopia. Select photo screening devices can examine both eyes at once and can take only a few seconds to perform the screening.

Results are easy to interpret and can be shared with family and other eye care specialists. It can easily be used in pediatric offices, schools and community vision screenings. The American Academy of Pediatrics and American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus recommend the use of photo screening instruments in young children.
A study performed by researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University found that photo screening correctly identified more students in need of a comprehensive eye exam than an ordinary screening could. The study also showed that instrument-based screening is time efficient and can be performed in a quarter of the time of visual acuity screening.
The Malpass family, based in Washington State, includes two active boys, Miles, 12, and Parker, 8, who love to play all sorts of sports and are avid readers. When Miles complained that he could not see well out of his right eye, their parents had both boys looked at with a Spot Vision Screener. It was discovered that each boy’s eyes were slightly different sizes, causing a refractive error in the bad eye. The brain prefers to use the dominant eye, which made the vision worse in the non-dominant eye. An ordinary eye chart test at school had failed to catch the problem. Fortunately, it was correctable and both boys now wear glasses and see well at school and on the playing fields and ski slopes.

Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15, celebrates legacies from past generations. In many Latino cultures, that includes lessons mothers share with their children on taking care of the home and family. That’s one reason this month (and all through the year), many people like to recognize mothers and the Hispanic-owned brands that are dedicated to helping them keep a wonderfully clean home.
For example, AlEn USA is the North American subsidiary of one of the most recognized companies in the household cleaning products category in Mexico: Industrias AlEn S.A de C.V (Grupo AlEn). Since its beginning in 1949, Grupo AlEn has pioneered well-known consumer brands popular in Mexico.
For many Hispanic moms, fragrance is a top priority when it comes to a clean home. They feel nothing says “te amo” like soft, fresh smelling laundry, and Ensueño Max fabric softener will ensure that everything from socks to sweatshirts has a long-lasting scent and that your fabrics stay soft and wear well.
One product many Hispanic families have in their cleaning cabinet is Pinalen Original, a pine oilbased cleaner that degreases, fights stains, shines floors, and more. Not only does Pinalen Original have the highest percentage of pine oil compared to any other pine-based cleaner on the market, the manufacturer harvests the pine oil from a sustainable, companyowned plantation in Mexico.
As for the well-loved surfaces in Mom’s home that could use some elbow grease, there’s Cloralen Multipurpose Cleaner. It eliminates stains and grease in even such tough-to-clean spots as bathroom tile, kitchen counters, toilet tanks and more.
Then your mother and entire family can enjoy a clean kitchen in which to cook and share a festive meal.

Most older adults - about 94 percent - want to stay at home as they age. But a new survey from the Home Instead Senior Care network shows many seniors are redefining what it means to age in place, revealing that one in four plan to move to a new home to accommodate their changing needs.
Among those who want to age in a new home, many older adults are searching for improved practicality - with top desired features, including single-floor living and easy or low cost of maintenance. For those who want to stay in their current homes, nearly two-thirds have given thought to age-friendly modifications, such as adding grab bars to bathrooms or other safety measures.
When seniors and loved ones are faced with the question of what features are best for them, it’s important to consider effects of aging that could make certain areas of the home hazardous, such as:
* Agility and mobility. Conditions such as arthritis can impair mobility. Stairs that were once easy to navigate might now present a challenge.
* Balance. Neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and other chronic conditions increase the risk for balance problems, as well as falls on slippery floors and getting in and out of the bathtub.
* Eyesight. Studies indicate that a 60-year-old needs at least three times
more ambient light to see than a 20-year-old. Poor eyesight may make medication management and personal grooming difficult, and can lead to tripping hazards.
* Memory. The effects of memory loss might make it hard for an older adult to stay on a medication plan, remember to turn off stove burners or pay bills on time.
With so much to consider, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed navigating the decision of where to age. In fact, just one in four seniors surveyed report having specific plans for where they will live as they become older.
To help seniors make an informed decision on the best place to age, Home Instead is introducing Home Your Own Way, a new collection of free resources for seniors and their loved ones to navigate options and determine what “home” might look like for them.
Whether older adults age in their current home, downsize, move to a senior living community or choose to live with relatives, the goal of Home Your Own Way is to provide seniors and families with the resources they need to make a decision that is right for them.

By 2030, an estimated 12.1 million Americans will experience a common heart condition called atrial fibrillation (AFib), sometimes felt as an irregular or fluttering heartbeat. (CDC) Even the most active individuals from bodybuilders to Olympians and nationally-ranked athletes can experience AFib. AFib can worsen if not promptly treated, but working with your physician to correctly diagnose and treat it can help you get back to active living.
Candice golf
For Candice Donahoe, a former NCAA Division I tennis player, avid golfer, and runner, her critical AFib warning sign was when she collapsed during a halfmarathon and was initially diagnosed with dehydration. After being evaluated by her electrophysiologist – a doctor who specializes in the heart’s electrical system – she was diagnosed with AFib and atrial flutter and treated with cardiac ablation, a procedure using heat or cold to create tiny scars in the heart to restore a regular heartbeat. To monitor her heart continuously, Candice’s doctor recommended the Medtronic Reveal LINQ™ Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM), a small heart monitor placed under the skin on the chest to better understand her AFib episodes and what could be triggering them. From there, her care team was able to pinpoint that she was experiencing AFib during physical activity in the heat. Candice has now found new ways to exercise while managing her AFib.
Tim
After overcoming many addictions and turning his life around, Tim Berry, a competitive bodybuilder suffered a heart attack and later was diagnosed with AFib. His heart rate would spike tremendously during exercise, and he noticed a physical strain and mental strain that made day-to-day life very challenging. After his AFib diagnosis, his doctors identified him as a good candidate for a minimally invasive procedure with the Arctic Front™ Cryoballoon, instead of having to take daily medication. A week after the procedure, he was back in the gym and noticed an improvement. For Tim, treating AFib early with cardiac ablation led to the best possible outcome.
“It’s important to recognize that AFib doesn’t have a standard manifestation and can present completely differently based on the individual. If you or someone close to you suspects they might have AFib, it’s important to talk to your doctor to ensure a better understanding of your symptoms and provide guidance to move forward towards diagnosis and treatment,” said Dr. Khaldoun Tarakji, vice president and chief medical officer of the Cardiac Ablation Solutions operating unit at Medtronic.
While AFib can look different from person to person, common symptoms include:
Heart sensations, sometimes called palpitations, which may include irregular, thumping, or pounding heartbeats
A feeling that the heart is racing
Chest discomfort or pain
Fainting or lightheadedness
Fatigue, shortness of breath, or weakness
Detecting AFib can be challenging. The following tests and devices can help determine if you have AFib and give insights into your condition:
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
Stress test
Longer-term monitoring devices such as the LINQ™ family of insertable cardiac monitors
Targeted Treatment
Once diagnosed with AFib, treatment options include:
Medication, known as antiarrhythmic drugs, is one form of treatment to prevent and treat irregular heart rhythms.
Minimally invasive ablation procedure is another form of treatment, including a Medtronic FDA-approved option known as a Cryoablation. To learn more about atrial fibrillation and find a specialist near you, visit: Medtronic.com/AFmonth
Always talk to your doctor about risks, diagnosis, and treatment information. Possible risks associated with the implant of the LINQ™ Family ICMs include, but are not limited to, infection at the surgical site, device migration, erosion of the device through the skin and/or sensitivity to the device material. For important safety information, see: https://www.medtronic.com/us-en/patients/ treatments-therapies/insertable-heart-monitors/getting-monitor/importantsafety-information.html.
Risks associated with the Artic Front™ Cryoballoon may include bleeding and bruising where the catheter was inserted, cough, shortness of breath, infection, temporary or permanent stroke, severe complications leading to hospitalization or potentially death. -(NewsUSA)
