Americans Favor Investment in Cancer Cure

A

s divisive as American politics can be, most Americans want their next president to pursue cancer cures, based on the results of a survey conducted by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). According to the survey, Finding Cancer Cures, 82 percent of Americans polled want the next president of the United States to reinvest in Vice President Biden’s Moonshot to End Cancer initiative. Support for the Moonshot program was favored by a majority of those who declared themselves Democrats (90 percent), Republicans (73 percent) and independents (77 percent). In addition, 42 percent of the survey respondents said the proposed $1 billion in funding for the moonshot cancer project isn’t enough. Those aged 55 years and older were more inclined than younger respondents to think more money is needed (54 percent versus 38 percent), as were those who self-identified as Republicans (45 percent) and independents (46 percent), compared with Democrats (40 percent). The respondents who supported additional funding were closely divided on the amount needed: 32 percent stated that the investment should be $2-$5 billion, 34 percent said $6-$10 billion and 34 percent said they would allocate an additional $10 billion for the moonshot project. The new survey from LLS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting blood cancers, is the most comprehensive analysis to date of Americans’ attitudes toward efforts to eliminate cancer and the progress that has been made. “The moonshot program is forging scientific collaboration

A psychological parentchild relationship has developed between the Petitioners and the adoptee; l. The Petitioners desire to adopt the adoptee; and m. The biological parents cannot rebut the conditions described in Subparagraphs (a) through (l) above. 17. This is not an open adoption. 18. The adoptee is not an Indian child and is not subject to the provisions of the federal Indian Child Welfare Act. 19. The adoption is not subject to the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children. 20. The adoptee is not foreign born. 21. The adoption is not a Convention adoption. 22. No post-placement report or pre-placement study is necessary because this is an adoption where the minor child has resided with Petitioners since birth. Don’t Let The Wrong Battery Stall Your Outdoor Enjoyment

ince it’s hard to enjoy the outdoors if you can’t start your car, boat, motorcycle or all-terrain vehicle (ATV), choosing the right kind of battery designed for your vehicle make, model and usage habits is very important.

Motorcycle and ATV batteries The most common powersport batteries are conventional lead-acid batteries and absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries, also called maintenance-

AGM batteries are more expensive but need less maintenance and perform well in extreme climates. Conventional and AGM powersport batteries come with acid bottles for filling the batteries. A motorcycle battery charger should be used to activate these batteries once filled. Marine batteries Marine batteries are different from car batteries. A marine battery needs to crank over an engine and supply the energy needed for continued accessory use. For that, marine starting batteries—also known as cranking batteries— are a good fit.
