Sotogrande welcomes Christmas The resort is heading into the Christmas period perfectly prepared for the occasion. It is festooned in lights and the traditional decorations. These holidays do not run counter to the dynamic of commercial and social activity in the area, which is strengthened with the arrival of Christmas and the return of residents. There is a schedule of activities, with the municipal social centres and Sotogrande Marina as the main settings, which will liven up the Christmas period. Also, the concentration of sporting events, typical of these holidays (polo, golf, children´s competitions, etc.), focus movement on the main clubs and local entities.

The countdown to the end of 2017 is unstoppable, logically, and it also seems a little unnecessary to look back at the road taken, a clear waste of time at this point of the year (journalistic license aside, do not miss out on our annual review in pages 16-17 of this edition)- The reference to this expression is given in the sense that it is better to look ahead, fix our gaze on 2018 and think about how to improve, how to grow and how to be better and more competitive in Sotogrande as a destination concept and business. The key, as with almost everything that is looked at or that we aim to develop, is about investment and funding, a commitment that we are more than accustomed to in the area. The different entities and business groups normally commit to Sotogrande as a centre of their business operations and as a key setting for staging their activities, gatherings
and events. Indeed, a leap up in quality in this regard is the aim to achieve during the next twelve months, in the next financial year. That is to say, continue and increase the outer/inner appeal in order to encourage and strengthen an increase in the volume of local business with the development of more options for events, activities and business diversity. But to do that, it will also be necessary, externally, to have a plausible and appealing scenario. That means that we don´t want any scares next year. By scare we mean certain situations, relating to the natural setting (one of the great assets of this destination), as we have had this year. The deplorable image that every “X” weeks we see at the mouth of Guadiaro River, the Estuary itself lacks care and maintenance as does Torreguadiaro Lagoon, or more clearly, the state of shock caused by the possibility
of installing an anchoring ground for commercial vessels opposite the Sotogrande coastline; these are obstacles that Sotogrande cannot afford to have if it wants to continue to attract investment. It needs to exploit its values, but not in the sense of ruining them, but rather strengthening them. That will undoubtedly be one of the great keys and a great challenge for next year. It is not just about attracting new assets; we also need to look after those that we have so that they don´t turn against us. It sometimes seems that we like gambling. And it addition to all of this, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We are looking forward to the start of 2018, the newspaper is celebrating its 20th anniversary but just keep quiet about for the moment, we are still working on it and it will be amazing.

A flag that unites us and identifies us Sincerely, a few months ago nobody would have thought that this unusual passion for flags would lead us to have millions of Spanish flags displayed on every balcony, home, public square or on any item used in daily life. It is also worth highlighting that the Catalan “estelada” flag is beating its own records, meaning that production in China increases, as it happens those in favour of independence don´t even encourage their production in Catalonia. It is the Asian businesses who are the true winners of flag fever. And lastly, with yellow they have led to a considerable increase of this colour, as a friend of mine days, “Cadiz haven´t even been promoted to the first division and we already have masses of followers in Catalonia...look out when we come to the Camp Nou” And, another flag that should be flying freely in the wind would be that which identifies us and represents us faced with an expansion that we have now been requesting for a long time. Sotogrande, this idyllic place and one that represents an unbeatable lifestyle needs to grow at the pace of the economy, it is assumed that the terrible crisis is in the past and that we are on the up, but we have still not approved the Urban Planning Land Plan, with doubts over whether this is a tourism or residential area, when honestly both can coexist perfectly. We have the essence, a good climate, basic infrastructure, schools, good roads..., although also the absence of a considerable quota of
hotel spaces that enables us to offer new business options: large conferences, fairs, etc. On the other hand, the effort that has been made by the new ownership Sotogrande S.A, which took over the reins of the property developer three years ago, is extraordinary. The effort and enthusiasm put into making La Reserva an expansion point for the Sotogrande of the future is a reality, the imminent plans with the gigantic natural swimming pool (the lagoon/artificial beach), El Mirador and The Seven are projects of an extremely high quality. The only remaining question is whether the other initiatives will match these investments. The agents and the work are as important as the setting and the context. All of the entities need to row in the same direction as increasing the value of the Sotogrande concept, as a unique and exclusive destination, will undoubtedly also have an impact, in addition to the collective image, on the particular interests of each and every commercial and business sectors with activity in the area. 2017 is reaching the shore and with the turning of the tide 2018 will return in a few days. This past year has been filled with good news and promising breakthroughs as well as some bittersweet tastes due to darker issues. Some of the proposals and events planned offered the rewards and the renown sought when they were being planned; however, others ended up a bit

more lumped together and with less significance. During these days of reflection and gaining momentum, this will be a time to assess what was done well and what was not done so well in order not to repeat errors. We also should not get bogged down with the most consolidated initiatives, and as always we need to see where to improve in order to offer another take that surprises, especially among the most customary events in summer. And of course, before wishing you Happy Holidays and hoping you enjoy these beloved holidays with your families and loved ones; I want to announce that next year will be a very special one for this firm. Specifically, El Periódico de Sotogrande will celebrate its 20th anniversary, so there are really outstanding months ahead for Grupo HCP. We are already studying and planning different initiatives and actions and we hope that all of our advertisers, collaborators and esteemed readers, will join the events to accompany us and celebrate this special date. No fewer than 20 years bringing communication and the promotion of Sotogrande to every possible area. We will gradually inform you of everything. With that save, wave a joyful goodbye to the year that is ending and welcome in the exciting 2018, which is yet to be written, and which will certainly be very exciting. Merry Christmas! I wish to remind you that you can inform me of any issues of interest, either directly or through @JLGarciaSG.

Izquierda Unida reiterated that this problem has been recurring in recent years and that the ecological movement has been demanding action, without the politicians in charge taking this into consideration. There has even been direct

The Guadiaro River is one of the main fluvial channels in Campo de Gibraltar and the problems of the blockage of its mouth is having a considerable impact on the rich ecosystem in this river channel zone and the species that inhabit it, states the political group.

Miguel Preysler
Obituario
“Always humble, always attentive, a person to trust in” Miguel Preysler was an important person for the development of Sotogrande, as a resort and a community of owners, and most especially a key person in the history of Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande. He was General Director of Financiera Sotogrande S.A. (now Sotogrande S.A.) from 1977 to 1983. During those years he participated actively in the development of the quality concepts that have characterised Sotogrande since its establishment. Both during those years as well as in the 27 following years, when with his own company he settled permanently in Sotogrande, he made a big contribution to the good
integration of foreign owners who arrived in Sotogrande with other Spaniards who also gradually acquired properties and established themselves, both for spending holidays here as well as living permanently in the resort. With regard to Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, he contributed decisively to the development of what is today a priority golfing destination on an international level. As Director General of Sotogrande S.A. he signed the sale of the Club to its members in 1979 with our first president Emma Villacieros. As a member he was always a very active member of the Club and he was a member of the Management
Board for 24 years, which means he was the member who spent the most years on that board. Since August 2010 he was Vice-president of the Club, Course Captain in the Management Board that I was honoured to chair. As a member of the Board he was a person who was able to understand the diversity of our members and for me personally he was key source of support in the management of the Club during the last 8 years. His good work, his skill for dialogue and his knowledge of golf helped to make the Club what it is today. Throughout his sporting life, Miguel was one of the best amateurs in Spanish golf, as shown in his
trophy cabinet which features 5 Mid-Amateur Spanish Championships, 4 Senior Spanish Championships, 3 International Senior Spanish Championships, and 1 Senior European Championship. He was a real source of pride for RCGS. I met Miguel at the end of the seventies when he took up his role at Sotogrande S.A.. From the outset Miguel showed his ability in sports such as Filipino Fronton, which was then new in Spain, sailing, fishing, and above all golf. He was always willing to share his skills, offering good tips. They were good times, shared with Amparo his wife, always by his side, who many of us will remember with fondness
and nostalgia. Doing any sport by his side was always a lesson to improve. “Always humble, always attentive, a person you could count on and trust in” As I said in my letter to members following his passing, Miguel was a very beloved person at the Club and for me a crucial member of the Management Board as well as a good friend for many years.

VINOPOLIS SOTOGRANDE

Henri de Villamont Nuits-SaintGeorges, Burgundy The Festive Season is knocking on our door - a peak time for gift-giving, family meals and parties, most of which include wine, and not only a higher quantity of year-round favourites, but an extra special selection; top drawer Riojas, vintage Clarets, super Tuscans and of course, fine Burgundies. There are more than 4,000 individual domaines in Burgundy, although most of the best wines are made by the smaller producers, a favourite in the region being Henri de Villamont. Situated in the heart of one of Burgundy´s prettiest villages, Savigny les Beaune, this stunning property is surrounded by Premier Cru vineyards producing elegant and stunning wines with incredible depth, texture and perfectly balanced oak, allowing the delicate fruit of Burgundy´s red grape, Pinot Noir, to outshine. Nuits-Saint-Georges wine is produced in the communes of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Premeaux-Prissey in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. Côte de Nuits is actually named after Nuits-Saint-Georges, which is the sub-region´s largest town and which played an important role in the trading of these wines. The word “Nuits” has nothing to do with “night” but comes from the Latin for walnuts, Nutium. Henri de Villamont´s Nuits-Saint-Georges is fleshy with elegant tannins and complex aromas of cherry, blackberry and wood - a wine which goes hand in glove with festive food. Taste it at the shop this Friday and Saturday. Available at VINOPOLIS: • TASTE & BUY - Fridays & Saturdays (opening hours) Vinopolis offers you a (discounted) wine to taste before you buy. • Vinopolis PUERTO BANUS - Opening hours Mon-Sat: 10:00-14:00hrs/17:00-20:30hrs FREE PARKING available.
Sotogrande fills with Christmas tradition It is a real privilege to enjoy one of the most traditional births in the resort that has more than fifty years of history Since the outset, caring for traditions has been one of the key values of Sotogrande. It is the essence of its lifestyle and it becomes even more notable with the arrival of such cherished periods as Christmas. El Periódico de Sotogrande has been able to visit and view one of the most traditional and spectacular births that is prepared in the resort every year. A Mystery with all the flavour of the soberest classicism and the singularity od probably being one of the oldest nativity scenes in Sotogrande (as its owners prepare it with all the excitement that these ho-
lidays have awakened for more than 50 years). A tradition that they have instilled in their entire family. This is a wonder that can be visited and enjoyed in one of the Villas on Calle Isabel La Católica, specifically at number 14. The makers invite the residents that want to come and view it, to visit in the morning (preferably between 11am and 1pm); and enjoy with the extraordinary set-up full of small details that you can stop and take the time to savour. The most iconic figures are there, along with exotic and rural pie-
ces; different heights, towns and areas to discover. This is a scene that the owners say they change each year while maintaining the style and essence; and with the Mystery “taking centre stage”. This is a birth scene that has accumulate a real book of anecdotes and experiences over half a century, and where each building, figure and area has its own history. It is a real gem to fill yourself with the Christmas spirit in Sotogrande.

Javier Hojman, Arquitecto / architect

Fashion as a travelling companion “Everything is so, so fleeting……” I listen to this verse from a very well-known tango, and it makes me think of fashions that are intrinsically ephemeral… And the damage they cause to architecture when used mindlessly. The house, as man´s home, is probably the essence of architecture. Its evolution has accompanied social and technological changes throughout history. Un-
like other matters linked to leisure or exhibitions, for example, the home is permanent, it lasts over time. Therefore, the house should be carefully connected to fashion. There is a book by Octavio Paz which I recommend, Hombres en su siglo (“Men in their century”). Among other things, the book is about how important it is for leaders, intellectuals and artists
to understand that the time in which they live anticipates a time to come. This is essential for progress. Architects are not free from this responsibility. It is interesting to see the changes houses have been through as well as the reciprocity between the changes in social customs and what architecture proposes. You have to be a good observer, reinterpret and find new solutions.
You have to incorporate reasonable technological advances. And you have to be able to create profoundly contemporary architecture while avoiding merely
formal temptations. Without a doubt, if we are talking about “The Home”, fashion is not always a good travelling companion.

Brexit, segunda fase
Brexit, second phase There is no point crying over spilt milk or acting as if the citizens of the United Kingdom had not voted in favour of Brexit. They did. Therefore, the key is to reduce the damage, and the signing of the joint report on 8 December helped to do this. Thus, it will be possible to begin the second phase of the process: negotiating a new bilateral statute between Great Britain and the European Union. It is an exaggeration to interpret what happened as a British surrender. What is important is that the negotiators have avoided the so-called “hard Brexit” for the moment. Indeed, leaving by slamming the door behind would have been dreadful for the citizens of all of Europe, the British included. It is true that Theresa May had previously pointed in that direction with her tautological slogan “Brexit means Brexit”. However, voices were also raised from the EU calling for maximum toughness against the British, with the aim of making their case serve as an example to avoid the temptation to leave that other countries may have felt. Finally, both parties have reached agreements on crucial aspects: the rights of citizens, the bill to be paid by the United Kingdom, the regulations and the jurisdictions, and the case of Northern Ireland. The cryptic rhetoric as well as the manner, especially the early morning negotiation, were as customary, with the double aim of highlighting the drama and for everyone to be able to declare themselves victorious. The British representatives surely did yield quite a lot, but the outcome has not been a great chastisement for them, nor should it

have been. As the Spanish newspaper La Razón addressed in an editorial: “The EU was not created to give lessons and impose punishment, and greater damage for the former member would not result in any benefits for the 27”. And, likewise, it may strengthen the weakened political capital of Mrs May. With regard to what is closer to Sotogrande, there is no mention of Gibraltar in the joint report, however there is explicit mention of cross-border workers, and of course, the rights of citizens include Europeans residing in Spain that work in Gibraltar. In turn, the Gibraltar authorities, and although they are well aware of the influence that Spain will have in future agreements, welcomed the agreement of 8 December in so much that it averts “hard Brexit”. And that is essential. The problems of the past could reappear in the second phase, whose negotiations will be more difficult. But the worst scenario, a no-deal Brexit, has not occurred.

La Reserva de Sotogrande The dream becomes Reality La Reserva is the new chapter of life in Sotogrande. Little by little, this marvellous project is taking shape and becoming reality, contributing its future looking vision to the resort. These are new times in which the balance is perfectly established with modern architecture and excellent sports and leisure facilities with a healthy and comfortable lifestyle under the warm sun of southern Spain. The vision of the founder, Joseph Mc Micking, adapted to the 21st century. This is a great initiative that is making huge progress, in order to, become a reality very soon. We review the news from the project: Ground-breaking new amenities in La Reserva Sandy Pool Developments in La Reserva are leading the way on the Costa del Sol, with the first full sandy pool in both Spain and Europe .The 3,000 square metre sandy pool includes 500 square metres of water and beach dedicate to children. The bottom features an innovative sand base, which together with its beach area, gives it an authentic seaside feel. The sandy pool uses an advanced filtration system free of chemicals and will be delivered for our members’ enjoyment next summer.
Sports Lagoon Designed along the same principles, the 17,000 square metre sports lagoon offers a beautiful setting in which to enjoy activities such as optimist sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and pe-
dalos in close proximity to the beach club and amid stunning views of the sea, hills and the La Reserva golf course. The lagoon itself will have its own boathouse and summer café
in close proximity also serving the children’s area. Beach Club Work has also started on the adjoining beach club, which will provide 2,800 square metres of natural sand overlooking the pool and a full-service beachfront restaurant. It will be completed at the same time and will be the site of an elegant waterside club with 300 south and west-facing sun beds, exclusive bar service and an area dedicated to Balinese cabanas. The restaurant will offer an indoor dining area for 76 guests and an expanded shaded terrace with a further 240 seats. We will also complete a Tennis Pavilion to complement the existing four tennis courts, five paddle tennis courts and multi-sports court already in operation. Infrastructural improvements Having already been subject to a process of beautification, as part of which gardens, roads and indeed the golf course of La Reserva were remodelled, the current improvements focus on the further resurfacing of roads in La Gran Reserva, where the entrance gates will also be renovated. This work, together with the
improvement of the El Mirador road and La Gran Reserva will be completed in April 2018. Property News Building has also started on the first gated community of El Mirador, where two beautiful contemporary villas will be completed by the end of 2018 that offer not only fantastic views and prime 21st century style and luxury, but also healthy, eco-friendly living. Two additional villas will complete the El Mirador golf frontline aspect and construction is expected to start after the Christmas holidays. Gumuchdijan and Kogan, the first two magnificent homes withinSotogrande’s exclusive The Seven, will commence construction in Q1 2018, to become a reference of superlative contemporary design, engineering and landscaping for the entire Mediterranean region. Following several information meetings and different institutional claims, it was possible (at least until now), to stop the port initiative to install an anchoring group facing the Valle del Guadiaro coastline for commercial ships as they pass through the Strait of Gibraltar. This polemical issue was dealt with during these weeks.

With many radiant hours of sun and sea, once again this summer, Sotogrande saw the arrival of its classic International Polo Tournament. Informe

Sotogrande commits to increasing its offer and diversity of events as a boost to economic year •
The annual assessment offers attractive project due to the diversity of activities.
•
The extension of the tourism calendar and breaking up seasonal tourism, the big objectives.
•
Occupational data surpasses that of last year and has three main peaks
The annual assessment and summary of Sotogrande and Valle del Guadiaro can be presented in different ways and styles. The first part of it appears in prior pages with a quick look at images of 2017 (which is now heading into its final stage) with the main milestones of the year; while that review is complemented with data, figures and some elements to highlight during this year. Generally speaking, according to the view taken from representatives and sectors of most influence in Sotogrande, the assessment on a social and economic year is looking positive, in line with the growing momentum of recent years in terms of the development of business or the boom in the property sector, one of the big pillars of the local economy with the arrival of new investors and projects underway. There is very positive data on a tourism level, with occupancy levels higher than those recorded in past years and especially motivated by diversity in terms of the activities and events that strengthen this sector. Growth in the tourism sector The year is heading into its last fortnight with a very positive assessment on a tourism and commercial level, with regard to the services sector, with very high occupancy data in terms of regularity and with certain peaks and upturns that boost this segment and once again it leads one to think of the great potential that a firm commitment to a grand luxury hotel complex would
have in Sotogrande. As a first notable point of the season, it is worth highlighting the late and bright Holy Week (due to the whims of the calendar, midway through April); which provided average records of above 70% in the entire area of influence. It is worth highlighting here that as the week progressed occupancy rose to 80/85%, with the majority of hotels finishing the last weekend at 90%. It is certainly difficult to breakdown the tourism profile of the summer due to the different stages although it was possible to show that unlike what happened during 2015, when the tourism upturn shot up at the start of summer (during July, the start of the high season); this year the arrival of visitors took longer to really take off, although having said that it did so in a more concentrated and potent way. While during the initial stages of the summer the average was about 70/75% occupancy with peaks at the weekend of above 80%; upon reaching the key weeks in August, the quota rose to ground-breaking figures of an average of 90% or higher. There were weeks of “no vacancies”. An historic August. The third percentage peak in the profile of the annual tourism period was in October, during the days and even the complete week of the holding of the Andalucía Valderrama Masters. The area, between professionals, staff and the more than 40,000 people who passed through Real Club Valderrama during those days, offered occupancy levels of more than 90% during those days.
Breaking seasonal tourism Undoubtedly, this is one of the big objectives that is approached each year and towards which institutions and public and private groups in the area work towards, Different local entities are looking for ways to extend the calendar and the schedule of events, thus trying to avoid the large concentration of events on key dates in summer (with them even overlapping at times) and stretching the appeal and outside demand in the area. This year, as it happens, the spring season began strongly. As always, the polo season got underway with Holy Week, and there was also the RC44 international regatta as well as the arrival in Sotogrande, and therefore for the first time in Spain, of the Sotogrande Grand prize rally. With first-rate vehicles, many of great value; this was a show that put the focus on Sotogrande on an international level before the arrival of summer. Of course, the summer season offered a lot with the traditional golf tournaments, with the presence of some of the most prestigious brands and companies on the courses in the area; there was the large gastronomic range that Sotogrande and Valle del Guadiaro offer (something almost unbeatable in all of the Province and part of the Coast); as well as two important aspects to highlight aside from the range of sun and sea. A new edition of the Santa María Polo Club International Tournament, which in addition to having its impressive annual staging with a range of shopping
and leisure; held its first music festival: Sunset Valley. This was something innovative and warmly welcome as this area of music/culture remained unfilled in Sotogrande. The Andalucía Valderrama Masters Golf Tournament, a European Tour competition (helped by the equestrian offer: Polo, Dressage, etc.); managed to extend interest and focus onto Sotogrande during autumn and winter. Continuing to work in this direction is one of the big objectives of the year. Upcoming projects On the other hand, different property and shopping plans are currently being studied to assess their viability in order to make them a reality (and others are underway); that form part of the resort´s short term agenda. It is important to highlight the promotion and great impact that the parent company is having on La Reserva Club as the great future pillar for the growth and development of the resort in
coming years. Other projects such as the development of the Equine District in Valle del Guadiaro and the urban planning project at Los Pinos, are still in the laboratory phase so to speak, as they do not yet have sufficient administrative machinery in terms of permits to go ahead with development. It is also worth highlighting, other privately backed projects in the pipeline such as: Luxury Gardens in Altos de Valderrama, Senda Chica, La Finca and others in the area; as well as the expectation for the future due to the arrival of Grupo La Zagaleta in Sotogrande. In the same vein, it is also worth highlighting how the members of Valderrama have purchases and other assets; as well as the way in which Santa María Polo Club is trying to promote riding in the Puente de Hierro area. These are attractive and promising projects that will emerge in coming months and that will set the short and medium-term agenda in Sotogrande.

Equine District: big development of Valle del Guadiaro through horses Santa María Polo Club has presented the main data of the Equine District project, as an element for development in Valle del Guadiaro. This study highlights the importance of horses in the Province and their potential for encouraging the creation of employment. The main conclusions of this study were outlined in an information day held at the Los Pinos Pavilion at Santa María Polo Club. The day, named “An Equine District in Valle del Guadiaro:

“Owners look for a good climate like that of Andalusia, but above all they want excellence in terms of facilities, services, events, the safety of horses and the possibility to live close to them in the south of Spain, also in winter. It is possible to establish a real and operational model of equestrian facilities in the area. The Equine District is not a property project, but it is a rural smart initiative to attract an audience that loves horses, throughout the year, and not just in the polo season”.

“The sports facilities could include a rural hotel and a Club House”
“The development strategy must start from the recognition of the current landscape, very well preserved, and on that basis generate a new fabric that does not involve moving the urban model to the area, but the management of the field. The proposal should be completely a reference for the project of equestrian centers, which could include, in addition to sports facilities, a rural hotel and a Clubhouse. “

“Senda Chica”, a new property concept in Sotogrande This project, located in the heart of the resort, presents a unique concept for young families. It is a contemporary development, with large spaces whilst simultaneously offering affordable access into the Sotogrande property market. What is “Senda Chica”? A project involving spacious properties designed for families. The project consists of a plot of 50,000 square metres, surrounded by nature; with common areas and more than 7,000 m2 of cork oak trees. In total, there are more than 15,000 m2 devoted to green communal areas. The project’s name comes simply from the name in Spanish for a small country path in a natural environment, a key concept in this project of 102 contemporary style apartments. The location is another great asset? The plot is situated in the heart of Sotogrande: in the centre of the resort. It is located in an outstanding setting, surrounded by cork oak
trees, bordering with La Reserva golf and tennis club as well as the Sotogrande Riding Club (formerly “Cortijo de Valderrama”). Located two kilometres from Sotogrande International School and a stone´s throw away from the main shopping points, sporting entities and the beach. Also, it has views overlooking all the cardinal points and partially over the sea. It is a spacious plot, in a unique setting, benefitting from an exclusive concept. What are the properties like? Each apartment has a minimum of three to four bedrooms en-suite and all are around 200m2 built, with large terraces (in some cases) and gardens in others. Also, each prop-
erty will have two underground parking spaces. The objective is to enable families to enjoy large open spaces, in the heart of nature and with the peace and quiet offered by being in a gated residential community like “Senda Chica”. What about its style and construction? It is inspired by contemporary and simple architecture, in the style of the early years of Sotogrande. Also, we committed to creating apartments on one floor for greater convenience, without too many stairs; a characteristic demanded in the area and one that is well appreciated by young families (with babies, etc.), as well as by elderly
people. Each block will be built in a pyramid shape consisting of: one Penthouse, two Roof Gardens and four Garden Houses. It is worth highlighting that in the centre of the complex there is a communal area of 8,000m2. In this large area there will be a swimming pool and two paddel tennis courts. Who is behind “Senda Chica”? “Senda Chica” is a project backed by private investors, and developed by companies with a great deal of experience in property development. “ Lemon Promociones” in management and marketing and Open Frontiers (Michael Norton) in sales. Modern apartaments from 398.000 euros (+ IVA).

Each year ARCGISA supplies 37 million cubic metres of drinking water to the Campo de Gibraltar province • •
More than 10.5 million cubic metres go to homes in Campo de Gibraltar The price of water supplied by ARCGIS is under the national average
ARCGISA, the public company of the Association of Municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar responsible for providing the water and waste services, distributes a volume close to 37 million cubic metres of drinking water that goes to the different municipalities and industries in Campo de Gibraltar. Specifically, the data outlined in the company last annual report shows that ARCGISA allocated 26,340,780 cubic metres for consumption in homes and another 10,513,257 cubic metres to supplying large industries in Campo de Gibraltar. The water consumed by homes
in Campo de Gibraltar mainly comes from the two reservoirs in the province: Charco Redondo, located in the municipality of Los Barrios, and Guadarranque, located in Castellar de la Frontera. Prices under the national average Thanks to this provincial approach, the users of ARCGISA benefit from prices that are below the national average, as accredited by FACUA - Consumers in Action in their Study on the Home Water Supply Rates in Spain corresponding to the 2016 financial year.
Thus, the price for the consumption of 20 cubic metres in a 15 millimetre meter along with the improvement charge and the wholesale water charge which are included in the ARCGISA bill is around €31.46 when the national average reaches €38.201. Also, ARCGISA wins the price comparison with the majority of capitals in Andalusian provinces. Thus, the price for that same volume of water supplied reaches €52.61 in Huelva; €50.89 in Seville; €50.86 in Cadiz; €45.16 in Granada; €43.75 in Malaga, €40.35 in Jaén; €38.25 in Almería and €37.58 in Cordoba.

Sotogrande: 1.5 million cubic metres a year Citizens living in the Sotogrande area consume an approximate value each year of 1.5 million cubic metres of drinking water supplied by ARCGISA, according to the breakdown of consumption corresponding to 2016.
First term ends after lots of adventures and emotive moments At our school, always committed to social values such as looking after nature, solidarity and equality...we celebrated Halloween designing costumes with recycled materials, we held a charity race in order to contribute to the Save the Children association, we celebrated the day against gender violence, and we put ourselves in the shoes of people who suffer from disabilities with several activities such as painting without our hands. These have been very fun months with trips to an adventure park in Castellar, the cinema in Palmones, and Malaga where we attended a professional basketball match.
We found time to do everything: we did yoga and other emotional educational activities, we created healthy menus and the little ones at the school delved into the world of research through their projects on pre-history, dolphins, and chocolate. Also, we had an autumn party where the entire school enjoyed fruits and nuts, and we will end December with
our big Christmas party. We are opening our doors and we invite everyone who wishes to accompany us to enjoy the performance of our children. To finish, we should say that in everything that we have carried out, each day was accompanied by classical melodies that the coordinator of the School´s Space of Peace has reproduced to the delight of families, pupils and teaches in our open spaces and corridors.Barbésula wishes happy holidays to everyone, and may the coming term be even better. We will not stop trying to make that happen.

sets or rights in order to compensate gains and save on taxation. Bear in mind that the income gains and losses regardless of the period of being part of the tax owner´s equity are incorporated into the taxable base of savings, while it will be possible to compensate in the savings base revue with capital gains and losses, progressively and with certain limitations. If you are close to turning 65 and thinking about transferring your usual property with capital gains, you will be interested in turning that age in order to sell; in that manner the earnings will not be taxed. With tax payers over the age of 65, there is an exemption for capital gains resulting from the transfer of any asset, provided
that the amount obtained, with a maximum limit of €240,000, is reinvested in the establishment of annuities that complement the pension. Bear in mind that the deduction for obtaining work income or economic activities, more known as the €400 deduction, has disappeared, along with the deduction for savings-company account, and also the deduction for rental. It is very important that you don´t forget to verify the deductions offered by applicable regulation in accordance with the Autonomous Community where you have your tax residence. Closing of 2017 Personal Icome Tax The time has come to review our tax matters and thus be able to optimise our Tax return, before the end of the year and taking advantage of the options offered by different taxes, especially Personal Income Tax. There are cases where labour income may be exempt to a certain exempt, such as the so-called transport cheques, restaurant receipts and health insurance paid by the entrepreneur. With regarding to the leasing of properties and in the case that positive revenue will be obtained from rental, it is worth looking ahead to 2017 to see the expenses that you will need to make on the property, always observing the criteria of temporary imputation. Remember that in the case of leas-
ing properties used as housing, the net return is only reduced to 60% and it will be applied solely to the net positive return. Contributions to pension plans reduce the taxable base on a general level to a limit of €8,000,

Jon Rahm ends fairy-tale year with a win on the World Tour in Dubai It was a fairy-tale ending for Jon Rahm, after the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, the grand finale of the European Tour, where the Spanish golfer managed to take another victory in his debut season to consolidate his status as a great star of world golf. Rahm is no longer a working project, he is a reality. As Miguel Ángel Jiménez and
Álvaro Quirós had done in previous years, Jon Rahm won this grand finale in brilliant style. With one day to go he was in second place with a total of -14, improving continuously as the tournament progressed, made clear with his rounds of 69, 68 and 65 shots. The first great news of the day was the great 65 by Sergio García
which saw him climb nine places into fourth, and comfortably watch the finale at the club house of Jumeirah Golf Estates. The star matches were still underway and they were extremely close. Gradually some of the great players gave up ground: three bogies between 12 and 16 rules out Justin Rose. Shane Lowry took advantage to take the lead with -18.
And there was Jon Rahm, playing solidly and decisively, not giving up a single bogey. His birdies at holes 14 and 16 put in the lead with a -19 that did not change. Two good pars at 17 and 18 and a quiet finish by the South African Dylan Frittelli sealed victory for the player from Barrika. Another win in an impressive year. The week had
already got underway in the best possible fashion for Jon Rahm, as he received the Sir Henry Cotton prize in Dubai, naming him the Debutant of the Year on the European Circuit. This title is the result of an impressive year in Europe, with Ireland providing the icing on the cake. This victory in Dubai confirms all the good predictions.

La Dolfina remains “King” La Dolfina Sancor Seguros (40 goals) enjoyed a close win, and in the extra chukka, against Ellerstina Johor (39) of 14-13 with a golden goal by Juan M. Nero and was crowned five-time consecutive champion of the Argentine Open, after winning the 124th Argentine Polo Open Championship. In this manner, the side from Cañuelas took two of the 2017 Triple Crown titles (Tortugas Open); while La Zeta won the Hurlingham Club Open. Ellerstina was much more competitive than in recent years, putting pressure on the rival at all times, who did not find their play during a large part of the match, even making imprecise hits. As a result
of this parity, the end of regulatory time arrived with the score at thirteen goals apiece. In the extra chukka and following goof play from La Zeta that “Polito” tried to finish off from far out, the response was lethal: Cambiaso supplied Nero, who sealed the match with a great goal. Thus, La Dolfina Sancor Seguros, which continues to make history, and earned his 22d consecutive victory and his 5th consecutive title at the Open. Juan M. Nero was selected as best player in the final; while the Javier Novillo Astrada Trophy for the top goal scorer in the championship went to Pablo Pieres, scorer of 38 goals in the tournament. Adolfo
Cambiaso (h) was awarded the Fomento Equino Cup for the best rider in the final; while the Gonzalo Tanoira Prize for the best rider in the contest went to Juan M. Nero and the Fair Play prize for the most disciplined player in the tournament went to Pablo Mac Donough. Also, the AAJP trophy for Fair Play in the final went to Gonzalo Pieres (h). Among the horses, the Lady Susan Townley Cup for the best horse played in the final went to Dolfina B09 Cuartetera, played by Adolfo Cambiaso; a specimen that also received the Argentine Association of Polo Horse Breeders for the Best Argentine Polo Breed Played and the Sociedad Rural Argentina Prize.
Croquet, a tradition in Sotogrande Croquet, in its Golf Croquet format has been established now for two years at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, bearing in mind that in the 60´s it was played in exactly the same place where the two pitches are now. A few years ago the idea backed by Antonio Sainz de Vicuña and Felipe López de Carrizosa came to fruition with the support of its President Felipe Oriol, and since then different tournaments have been held in summer, Christmas and the next one will be in Holy Week. As an appetiser, we will remind you of the last competitions held.
Luxury final of Sotogrande Golf Circuit at La Reserva Club A well-deserved award for the 51 chosen players who earned their ticket for the closing event at the fifth edition of the Sotogrande Golf Circuit, as well as for the other participants. Undoubtedly, this could serve as an introduction to the grand finale held at La Reserva de Sotogrande. The day began coldly at a course that did not make things easy for the players, who really had to give everything they had at each hole.

This is an important sporting network with a presence in several countries (mainly with links to British and American clubs and academies), which will enable the kids from UDSE to learns with new and innovative techniques and training methods; and also a great launch point to access trips, exchanges and competitions with different international entities linked to this platform. To provide a little context, Challenger Sport (whose director general of development, Chris Sharman, visited Sotogrande in order to formalize the agreement with Manuel López, director of UDSE), has a sporting network in which more than 200,000 children from different countries participate; it organizes more

Also, among the upcoming agreements, there is a very real possibility that is being worked on, to bring an International Football Tournament to Castellar during Holy Week for children and teams from different countries. This is a pioneering commitment in Spain, based in Sotogrande and it expected to soon expand to different destinations (there are already several clubs interested), which would easily enable children from San Enrique to travel in order to discover and train, for example, at facilities such as those of Southampton (Premier League side). And even compete in a tournament against its lower divisions.
Juan Quirós finishes three shots from winning Spanish Golf Championship
‘Gesta Real State’ takes victory at the J80 Circuit event in Sotogrande The weather gave no respite. The fleet of the VII J80 Sotogrande Marina/Land Rover Circuit, held its third event, difficult due to the continuous changes in direction in a racing area that was freezing like we have not seen for some time. Six heats, four partial winners, two new incorporations and a scare for the provisional leader, the “Marbella Team” of Pepequín Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez, which saw its lead at the top reduced by ten
finish. In summary, with 16 events completed on the circuit, “Marbella Team” is availing of past performances to remain at the top on 27 points, now followed by “Gesta Real State” on 33. Bassadone´s men have achieved the double aim; to get closer to the leader and to increase the distance from third place, “PAS Team”, now eleven points. They are followed by the “P.F. Team” of Petter Fjellstad.
The Guadiaro player Juan Quirós finished just three shots from victory at the Spanish Professional Senior Golf Championship held at the Alicante course of Alenda Golf, a tournament where Santiago Luna (-9) took victory. For the third consecutive day, the player from La Cañada had a round of 70 shots, with birdies at holes 8, 12 and 16 and with a bogey at 17, which earned him the runner-up´s spot with a total of -6. In turn, his brother Bartolomé ended 53rd on +30, after a final round of seven over par on the course with a birdie (4), five bogeys (3, 6, 10, 14 and 15) and a triple-bogey.
A master class, quality and experience were just some of the characteristics that led Santiago Luna, one of the illustrious figures in Spanish golf, to add his second national championship title. Not for nothing, the final stage of the competition, immersed in a stellar match that generated deep admiration, with Juan Quirós and Pedro Linhart as companions in the latter stages, was an ode to true golf, to the essence, soul, sentiment, all those qualities that only players like them, experienced in thousands of victorious battles, are capable of conveying during 18 holes of exciting battle.

gby, Escoriones Rugby Granada y Fuengirola Rugby.

This is the case of the under-10´s from Club de Rugby del Estrecho, which presented two teams; the Red team participated in the competition category, and the Grey team in the promotion category. This second group is where the members begin to
develop as players and discover the terrain, look for spaces, make short runs and lose the fear of falling and contact. They played at their maximum level and were very motivated, they drew two of the games, won one and lost another. As for the Red team, it played its fourth gathering in the competition group. This is the point where the
players, under the age of 10, begin to develop their most eye-catching play, both in terms of placement and decision making. The tries arrived to maintain possession of the points in the match, and the continuous movement of the ball played using the hands. They won all of their matches although they were defeated 4-1 by Marbella A in the Gold Cup.
