FRANCIS MENA DIRECTOR DE CONTENIDOS CON LUZ PROPIA
Shining in its own right
A publication does not merely tell stories, it chooses the perspective from which to share them. La Revista de Sotogrande knows with certainty that this special corner of the south shines with a light of its own—a light that does not blind, but illuminates. Especially during the summer months.

We are based in Sotogrande, but we want to stand even closer to what it truly represents: its surroundings and the people who form a community living in harmony with a new lifestyle philosophy. We aim to capture that light and project it through our pages. This first issue of our new chapter is a statement of intent. Across the following pages, we explore the gastronomic excellence of its five-star hotels, delve into forward-looking projects shaped by ARK, discover the local talent and style born here through Sotogrande Lovers, and step inside the iconic venues that have placed Sotogrande on the international sports map, such as Real Club Valderrama and Ayala Polo Club. Sotogrande is also defined by everything that inspires and engages its community. Thus, we explore new endeavors such as Marqués de Riscal, uncover the century-plus heritage of Ansorena, journey to new destinations, and visit the salt marsh of chef Ángel León. Above all, we want to convey a singular idea: Sotogrande is much more than an iconic image. It is a dynamic community—a place of innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity. Our commitment is to continue discovering these stories, telling them with rigor through a bright, warm magazine with a voice of its own. Welcome to this new chapter. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.

Twice a day, the Atlantic flows in and out of the salt marshes of the Bay of Cádiz. With it come fish, birds, nutrients and a way of understanding nature that remained forgotten for far too long. There, where for decades many saw only a silent landscape, the Chef of the Sea has found the most important project of his career.
Those who choose Sotogrande are increasingly seeking experiences rooted in nature and gastronomy. On that journey through the excellence of southern Spain, Aponiente— Ángel León’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant in El Puerto de Santa María—holds an indispensable place. Yet this time, the spotlight falls not on a dish, but on a landscape. The salt marshes of El Puerto de Santa María, within the Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, have become the stage for a project combining environmental restoration, research, and gastronomy to showcase one of the most valuable ecosystems along the Andalusian coastline.

We speak with Ángel León at a particularly significant moment for Aponiente. After revolutionizing haute cuisine by exploring the sea as few chefs ever had before, the Cadizborn chef has turned his attention toward a landscape that was always there, even if it went unnoticed for a long time. The salt marsh is no longer merely the setting surrounding the restaurant, but has become the very heart of the project.

That shift in perspective began with Aponiente’s move to the historic Molino de Mareas El Caño. More than just a change of location, it marked the beginning of an ambitious restoration project for the former San José Salt Pans and the surrounding salt marshes. What was for years a degraded area has been transformed into an experimental marine farm open to the public, where biodiversity is restored, research is championed and gastronomy proves it can also serve as a tool to protect the land.
The Salt Marsh: The Restaurant’s Pantry Because Aponiente is no longer just a restaurant. It is a project to be visited, interpreted and, ultimately savored. Before taking a seat at the table, guests are invited to understand the land from which the culinary vision springs. Only then comes the meal itself. Today, that connection with the landscape is also reflected in a new pantry born directly from the salt marsh. Shrimp, sea bream, sea bass, blue crab and native oysters form part of an offering that invites us to see this ecosystem not merely as a natural habitat to be protected, but as a thriving land filled with life and culinary potential. We asked him whether this evolution also reflects a new profile of traveler—a visitor who, as is increasingly common in destinations like Sotogrande, seeks to understand the land just as much as enjoy its gastronomy. Ángel León believes that “today’s diner is far more curious and conscious than a few years ago. There are guests who aren’t looking solely for great cuisine; they want to understand what lies behind it, to know the territory, the history and the people who make it possible. For me, true luxury is not an exclusive ingredient—today you can get any product anywhere in the world within 24 hours—it is having the opportunity to enjoy an experience that goes further, allowing you to discover a unique ecosystem and understand why it deserves to be protected”, says.

“I felt that we still had so much to learn from the salt marsh and that right there was, quite possibly, the most important project in our history.”
The conversation then leads us to the origin of this transformation. At what point did Ángel León stop looking exclusively to the sea to turn his attention to the salt marshes? The answer takes us back to the restaurant move. “For many years, I looked at the sea with infinite curiosity, focusing on bringing value to what many discarded or ignored, putting new ingredients on the table and looking beyond the traditional marine pantry. But ever since Aponiente settled into its current home at theMedina de Mareas El Caño, our focus shifted toward our closest natural counterpart: the salt marsh. It is an extraordinary ecosystem, a true engine of life where sea and land dialogue twice a day with the tides. I felt we still had so much to learn from it and that herein lay, quite possibly, the most important project in our history.” An inevitable question then arises: How has the way of welcoming visitors before the first course changed and what role does the salt marsh play in that experience today? The founder of Aponiente notes: “An ecosystem to dignify and an unprecedented new pantry. We realized we had to look at our immediate surroundings with hunger. For years our obsession was focused on the sea, but today I feel that the landscape surrounding us also has much more to tell than we do. Cuisine remains the language, but it is no longer the sole protagonist. We want whoever comes to Aponiente to first understand how this ecosystem works, how it lives, to speak of nature’s ‘tempo’, of how it regenerates and how the living creatures inhabiting it thrive and why it is so important to protect this biodiversity.”

2026
“Restoring these salt marshes means restoring biodiversity, reviving traditional crafts, generating knowledge, and proving that conservation and development can walk hand in hand.” Listening to Ángel León allows one to understand that the goal of the project is not solely about restoring a natural space. It goes beyond that: “That they discover that a place many considered empty or unproductive for years is, in reality, one of Europe’s richest ecosystems. That they listen to the silence, observe the movement of the tides, the birds, the fish, the halophyte plants... and understand that everything is connected. That they feel the importance of connecting with an environment that values nature, its creatures and the people who safeguard it as a source of productive and sustainable wealth on so many levels,” reflects the Cadizborn chef. The conversation moves toward a question that transcends gastronomy. We ask him what it means to take on the responsibility of restoring a natural space like this and what it has meant to transform a former degraded salt marsh into a place open to research, conservation and outreach. The answer from Aponiente’s founder reflects the extent to which this project has ceased to be exclusively culinary, turning into a profound commitment to the land itself.

“It is a responsibility and, at the same time, a privilege. We are the custodians of 20 hectares of Natural Park that we have transformed into an experimental marine farm, which is also open to anyone who wishes to experience it. It has been many years of swimming against the tide, an intense voyage where all our efforts have focused on bringing value to what was once a landfill, bringing life back to an abandoned salt marsh. Gastronomy cannot be limited to consuming resources; it must also be capable of giving something back to the land that makes it possible. Restoring these salt marshes means restoring biodiversity, reviving traditional crafts, generating knowledge and proving that conservation and development can walk hand in hand. If Aponiente leaves any legacy, I would like it to be precisely that.”
The chef insists on another equally important objective: restoring people’s bond with an ecosystem that is deeply rooted in the identity of the Bahía de Cádiz. “You can only protect what you know and love,” he confides.
22 L A R E V I S TA D E S O T O G R A N D E
Building on that idea, León continues, “for a long time, we have lived with our backs turned to the salt marshes, when in reality they are part of who we are. I would like this project to help people feel proud of this landscape, to understand its ecological, cultural and economic value.” Looking toward the future, we invite him to offer one final reflection: how does he imagine this project—these salt marshes—in a few years? “That they become once again a place full of life and opportunity. That they continue to bring back species, becoming a space for research, education and inspiration for new generations,” he responds.

24 L A R E V I S TA D E S O T O G R A N D E
The interview then shifts toward a broader reflection. Can gastronomy become a tool to protect natural heritage? Ángel León is convinced it can, though he emphasizes that each region must find its own way to do so. He summarizes it like this: “Spain possesses an extraordinary natural wealth that often goes unnoticed. It is not about copying a model, because every territory has its own identity, but about proving that gastronomy can become a tool to protect natural heritage and create value around it. I hope this project encourages others to look at their surroundings through different eyes.” We ask him what has been the greatest reward from all these years of work. He mentions neither awards nor accolades. “There are moments when you realize that the effort was worth it. Seeing a species return means that nature responds when you give it a chance. It is a lesson in humility. We do not perform miracles; we simply try to create the conditions for nature itself to do its work once again,” maintains the Chef of the Sea. Our conversation concludes with the mark he hopes to leave on those who visit Aponiente. “Beyond an unprecedented culinary experience, I would like them to remember that nature is a heritage we must all safeguard and preserve together. If we can get a person to leave here looking at the sea, the salt marsh, or any natural landscape with greater respect, deeper curiosity, and a desire to protect it, then we will have achieved far more than serving a good meal,” Ángel León concludes. The salt marsh is no longer merely the backdrop, but has become the true protagonist.

Two friends, a conversation over Easter, and an idea that had been brewing in their minds for a while. That is how Sotogrande Lovers was born—the brand created by Ana Lucía Strub and Montse Espadafor, aimed at capturing the Sotogrande lifestyle through a collection of elegant, timeless, and effortless garments.
We realized that both of us had been thinking about creating a brand inspired by Sotogrande for a while,” they recall.

The response has far exceeded their expectations. In just a matter of days, several pieces have become crowd favorites. Among them, the “Sleep, Beach, Polo, KE & Repeat” t-shirt stands out as one of the signature designs of this debut collection. For Montse, this piece holds special significance. “It was a design I had created years ago, and I always knew that one day it would see the light of day. It captures summer in Sotogrande perfectly, with a touch of humor.” Alongside the t-shirts, caps have quickly become another bestseller since the launch—a reception that confirms a clear interest in a brand rooted in the Sotogrande lifestyle. For Ana Lucía, fashion also has the power to hold onto memories. “We want locals, vacationers, and visitors alike to be able to take a piece of Sotogrande home with them.” That concept lies at the heart of every collection: creating garments that resonate with those who know this place and want to carry it with them long after summer ends. Though the project has just taken off, the duo is already hard at work on upcoming collections. Their goal is to continue growing without losing the founding essence of the brand, establishing a strong foothold in Sotogrande before setting their sights on the international market.
Both live in Sotogrande and share a very similar perspective on fashion and the lifestyle this unique location offers. They were certain from the start that they didn’t want to create typical vacation souvenirs, but rather a brand defined by thoughtful designs, high-quality garments, and subtle references recognizable to those who truly know the area.
“We wanted to move away from the traditional souvenir and create something people would actually want to wear, both here and anywhere else,” they explain The sea, polo, golf, nature, scenic strolls, gastronomy, and iconic local spots like KE appear subtly throughout their designs. Even the palm tree featured in the brand’s identity stems from the desire to capture the destination’s relaxed, Mediterranean spirit. Although neither comes from a fashion background, both have been personally involved in every step of the process: from initial concepts and design development to material selection, factory communication, and garment distribution. “We are learning so much. Everything has been brand new for us, but also deeply exciting,” they share.

For decades, high-end residential architecture was tied to a very specific idea of exclusivity. The size of the home, the uniqueness of the materials, or the spectacular nature of the design defined the value of a project. However, something is changing.
“Luxury is not excess, but serene spaces», summarizes Ruiz Moriche. A statement that synthesizes an architectural philosophy based on placing people at the center of the design process”. The most desired homes are no longer necessarily the largest or the most eye-catching. They are those capable of offering calm, balance, and a daily experience that contributes to improving the quality of life of those who live in them. Architecture is starting to answer a different question: can a home help us live better? In this context, a concept that until recently belonged almost exclusively to the realm of medicine or scientific research is emerging strongly: longevity. No longer understood solely as living more years, but as living them with greater well-being, health, and fulfillment. For Manuel Ruiz Moriche, founder and creative director of ARK Architects, this reflection is not a recent trend. For nearly thirty years, he has been developing an architecture based on a simple conviction: the spaces we live in directly influence our physical, emotional, and cognitive health.

Arquitectura que cuida
Architecture that Cares
Architecture has always responded to the needs of each era. If during the 20th century the great challenge was to build better, today the challenge consists of creating spaces capable of taking care of people.
There is growing scientific evidence regarding the influence that the built environment exerts on our bodies. The quality of natural light, ventilation, proportions, acoustics, the presence of vegetation, or the choice of certain materials condition everyday aspects such as rest, stress levels, concentration, or mood.
Designing a home therefore means much more than solving a functional layout or creating an attractive image. It means building an environment that will accompany a family’s life for decades. Under this premise, Manuel Ruiz Moriche has developed an architectural philosophy that integrates architecture, human behavior, nature, and well-being into a single vision. Each project stems from studying how its owners live, what their routines are, how they work, how they rest, or how they enjoy their family time. Architecture thus stops responding solely to space and begins responding to people as well.
Light as a design material
La luz como materia de proyecto
If there is one element that defines Manuel Ruiz Moriche’s work, it is natural light.
Not as a technical resource, but as an architectural material capable of transforming the experience of living. The orientation of the home, the path of the sun, the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, or the way light passes through each room become essential project decisions.
Light regulates our biological rhythms, modifies our perception of time, and creates atmospheres that directly influence how we feel. In the same way, the presence of water, stone, wood, or vegetation does not respond solely to an aesthetic matter. All these elements establish a deeper relationship between human beings and nature, fostering spaces where balance and serenity are part of daily life. Architecture then stops imposing itself on the landscape and begins to dialogue with it.

Del lujo a la calidad de vida
From Luxury to Quality of Life
This paradigm shift is also transforming the way residential luxury is understood.
Clients are no longer looking solely for spectacular homes. They are looking for homes capable of offering privacy, silence, comfort, flexibility, and an authentic connection with their surroundings.
Architecture is beginning to incorporate a more humanistic vision, where design is placed at the service of people. Circadian lighting, natural ventilation, spaces dedicated to rest, the integration of the landscape, or areas oriented toward personal care cease to be complementary elements and become an essential part of the project.

Architecture for the future
This vision finds one of its most recent expressions in NARA, the new project driven by ARK Architects in Sotogrande.
Conceived from the start under the principles of architecture for longevity, the project integrates nature, well-being, and technology in a discreet way, where every decision answers to a common goal: favoring physical health, emotional balance, and quality of life.
As Manuel Ruiz Moriche summarizes, “the best architecture is not the one that impresses the most on the day of its opening, but the one that continues to improve the lives of those who inhabit it many years later.” Natural light sets the rhythm of the spaces. The landscape is incorporated into the interior of the home. Wellness areas, hydrotherapy, and technologies oriented toward physical recovery are integrated naturally, without taking center stage, forming part of a coherent architectural experience. Beyond a specific project, NARA represents a way of understanding where contemporary housing is evolving. Because the future of architecture will probably no longer be measured solely by energy efficiency, technological innovation, or the quality of materials. It will also be measured by its ability to care for people. Perhaps that is the true meaning of architecture for longevity: creating homes that not only withstand the passage of time, but help us live it better.

In contemporary architecture, true luxury no longer resides solely in the size of spaces, but in the ability to create homes that establish a natural relationship with their environment. Under this premise comes DUNE, the new villa developed by Sotogrande S.A. and designed by ARK Architects in The 15, one of the most exclusive residential enclaves in La Reserva de Sotogrande. Inspired by the movement of sand dunes and conceived to integrate into the plot’s topography, the residence proposes an architecture in which landscape, light, and material merge to shape a project designed to endure over time.
Far from imposing itself on its surroundings, DUNE is born from them. Its design draws inspiration from the way the wind shapes dunes to develop an architecture of organic lines that dialogues with the Mediterranean landscape. This relationship with the land translates into a home that organizes virtually all daily life on a single floor, fostering a living experience that is comfortable, fluid, and connected to the outdoors.
Access is gained from the upper elevation of the plot, initiating a gradual journey through a succession of landscaped courtyards that bring natural light, ventilation, and vegetation into the heart of the home. This pathway leads to the grand main floor, where the primary spaces of the house are articulated and from which the architecture opens up naturally to the landscape.
Every room has been conceived to maintain its relevance over time and strengthen the bond between people and the place they inhabit. The architectural proposal does not view the home as a static space, but rather as an environment capable of evolving, maturing and acquiring value as the years pass.

“The people who inhabit these spaces are the center of our vision. We know that architecture conceived with sensitivity and purpose has the capacity to change the way we live. Our projects naturally integrate nature, space, light, and the needs of those who inhabit them to create sustainable, timeless homes designed to improve quality of life. That is our commitment,” explains Manuel Ruiz Moriche, creative director of ARK Architects. Meanwhile, Agustín La Rocca, Real Estate Sales Director at Sotogrande S.A., highlights that “DUNE represents Sotogrande’s vision of driving unique, signature residential projects, where architectural excellence and the natural environment integrate to offer a lifestyle based on quality, well-being, and respect for the place.” The composition of DUNE responds to the topography of the plot through an organic layout inspired by the movement of the dunes. Its curved lines, courtyards, gardens, and large glass surfaces build a continuous spatial sequence that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior, integrating nature as an essential part of the living experience. Developed on a plot of over 4,500 square meters, DUNE has approximately 1,825 built square meters distributed across two floors. The villa features seven en-suite bedrooms, ten bathrooms and restrooms, spacious living areas, an office, a gym, a wine cellar, and a garage with capacity for four vehicles. The well-being experience is completed with an outdoor infinity pool and an indoor pool integrated into the spa area. Both feature an organic design inspired by the curves of the landscape and have full depth, allowing them to be enjoyed for both leisure and swimming. Materials play an essential role in DUNE’s identity. Natural stones such as travertine and granite coexist with limestone, marble, wood, and natural mortars to create a sober and timeless palette that conveys warmth, authenticity, and a sense of roots. Beyond its aesthetic value, this selection contributes to reinforcing the serene character of the project and its close relationship with the environment, giving rise to spaces where matter takes on a prominent sensory role.

Longevity: A New Paradigm of Well-Being In DUNE, well-being stems from the design itself. The abundance of natural light, the continuity between interior and exterior spaces, the spaciousness of the rooms, and a flexible layout allow the home to adapt to different stages of life and the changing needs of its inhabitants. At the same time, home automation, climate control, and smart management systems remain discreetly integrated, putting technology at the service of daily experience without altering the purity of the architecture.
“DUNE represents a way of understanding architecture as a legacy” This vision responds to the Designed for Longevity concept, which guides the philosophy of ARK Architects and opts for spaces conceived to evolve over time without losing their essence. From this perspective, luxury is no longer measured solely by exclusivity, but is also associated with the capacity to create timeless, sustainable homes prepared to accompany the different stages of life. More than a home, DUNE represents a way of understanding architecture as a legacy. A project in which architectural excellence, integration with the landscape, and the wellbeing of its inhabitants converge to demonstrate that the best-designed spaces are those capable of maintaining their relevance, identity, and value over the years.

180 años que miran al futuro Ansorena 180 years looking to the future

Ese compromiso también explica cómo la casa ha conseguido preservar su carácter artesanal en un mundo marcado por la velocidad. ¿Cómo ha evolucionado el concepto de lujo en los úl— timos años? —El lujo hoy es menos ostentación y más autenticidad. La gente busca piezas que tengan sentido, y que transmitan valores. El lujo se ha vuelto más humano y más consciente -en el sentido de que el cliente valora el origen, el oficio y la responsabilidad detrás de cada pieza- y, además, reclama una experiencia completa más allá del producto en sí: quiere ser escuchado, asesorado y acompañado. Hoy el lujo es tanto la pieza como la forma en la que la vives. ¿El cliente actual busca más la exclusividad o la his— toria que hay detrás de una pieza? —Busca ambas, pero la historia pesa cada vez más. La exclusividad sin contenido ya no es suficiente. Una pieza con alma, con oficio y con un relato honesto conecta mucho más con el cliente actual. ¿Qué convierte una pieza en algo realmente excep— cional? —Por supuesto que sea una pieza impecable técnicamente, pero también, tener una historia detrás y transmitir emoción. La técnica es fundamental, pero la emoción es lo que convierte una pieza en algo único. ¿Cómo ha cambiado el coleccionista? — —El coleccionista está actualmente más informado, es más global y exigente. Antes el mercado era más local;

The Madrid-based house, a benchmark in fine jewelry and art auctions since 1845, begins a new chapter with Alfonso Mato Yllera at the helm. This generational transition invites reflection on the value of legacy, the evolution of luxury, and the future of one of Spain’s iconic houses. There are companies that survive the passage of time, and others that manage to engage in a dialogue with it. Ansorena belongs to that select group of houses that have successfully evolved without breaking the thread of their history. Founded in Madrid in 1845 as a jewelry workshop, it has accompanied the evolution of Spanish luxury for nearly two centuries, expanding into auctions, collecting, and contemporary art without sacrificing the artisanal excellence that made it a benchmark. Today, in a luxury market shaped by digitalization, internationalization, and a client who values both exclusivity and authenticity, Ansorena is opening a new chapter. The appointment of Alfonso Mato Yllera as General Manager marks a generational transition at the helm of a company that has remained in the hands of the same family since its founding. It is a change that preserves a nearly 180-year legacy while projecting the house into the future. We spoke with Alfonso Mato Yllera about that heritage and the challenges of leading a historic house. —What perspective and experience do you bring to this new chapter? —I bring a perspective deeply tied to what I learned from my family: that constant hard work, humility, and customer service are the foundation of everything. Ansorena has survived for so many years because it has never lost that spirit. My role now is to preserve that essence while simultaneously opening the house to a new era where tradition and modernity coexist naturally.

—When did you realize that you might end up leading the family business one day? —There wasn’t a specific moment, and in fact, it was never part of my plans. I have always seen Ansorena as the result of my family’s hard work across generations and I grew up understanding that success is built on humility, dedication and service to the client. When I was offered the general management role, I felt an immense sense of pride and above all, realized that I couldn’t say no: it was my responsibility as a family member and a future shareholder. From that point on, I accepted that if I wanted to rise to the occasion, I had to learn and work hard to honor that trust. —What would you say is truly the soul of the house? —The soul of Ansorena is customer service. Both in fine jewelry and in art, what has kept us alive for so many years is listening, guiding, and working with integrity. That approach to service is what bridges our two divisions. That commitment also explains how the house has managed to preserve its artisanal character in a fast-paced world. —How has the concept of luxury evolved in recent years? —Luxury today is less about ostentation and more about authenticity. People are looking for meaningful pieces that convey values. Luxury has become more human and conscious—in the sense that clients value origin, craft and responsibility behind each piece—and they also demand a complete experience beyond the product itself: they want to be listened to, advised, and guided. Today, luxury is as much about the piece as it is about how you experience it.” —Is today’s client looking more for exclusivity or for the story behind a piece? —They look for both, but the story is carrying increasingly more weight. Exclusivity without substance is no longer enough. A piece with soul, craftsmanship, and an honest narrative resonates far more with today’s client.

—What makes a piece truly exceptional? —Of course, it must be technically flawless, but it also needs to have a story behind it and evoke emotion. Technique is fundamental, but emotion is what turns a piece into something unique. —How has the collector changed? —Collectors today are better informed, more global, and more demanding. Previously, the market was more local; now clients compare, research, and seek rigor. International trends also point toward a growing interest in provenance and the cultural value of artworks. —Which story from Ansorena’s history do you still recall with particular emotion? —It always moves me to remember how Ansorena has survived everything: wars, crises, political shifts and changing eras. You can only achieve that through hard work, humility and customer service. That resilience is part of our identity.”

—Which piece of jewelry best represents the spirit of Ansorena? —The tiara that Ansorena created for Queen Victoria Eugenie in 1906 as a wedding gift from King Alfonso XIII is, for me, the clearest symbol of our history and spirit. It represents artisanal excellence, the bond with the Royal House and the legacy we have preserved for generations. I take great pride in knowing that, to this day, it remains with the Royal Family. —If someone writes this chapter of Ansorena a hundred years from now, what would you like it to say? —I would like it to say that we knew how to maintain the essence of Ansorena—hard work, humility and customer service—and that, without losing our identity, we were able to open the house to a new era of growth and modernity.

In an unstable world with rampant inflation, wars across continents, and devalued currencies, citizens face a context with bleak prospects. Among many concerns, savings remain a top priority. The fear of losing the fruits of years of hard work can be overwhelming. Yet, a solution is gaining particular relevance: investment precious metals. The key lies in their status as safe-haven assets, a quality that allows them not only to hold their price during turbulent times, but even to appreciate. Being finite physical goods, their value tends to remain stable in the short term, while over the long term, they typically gain value. This makes them stabilizing elements within any savings strategy. In a world that increasingly prioritizes the digital and instantaneous, what is tangible—what has worked for millennia—continues to yield success. The challenge is that for many, this market has felt inaccessible: a gap that SilverGold Patrimonio has been bridging since its founding in 2018. “Our goal is to democratize the world of investment precious metals and make it more accessible. One-time purchases, recurring buys, opportunistic acquisitions at peak moments… our clients have access to a variety of purchasing services tailored to their profile, objectives, and needs,” explains Javier López Milán, CEO of the company. Thanks to its agreements with the world’s leading refineries and mints, the firm secures bars and coins under unbeatable conditions. For added convenience and peace of mind, they offer clients the option to store their pieces in high-security facilities—a recommended measure to streamline logistics during buying and selling periods.

Understanding Market Logic Headquartered in Málaga, with offices spread across Spain, the company grounds much of its philosophy in financial education. Achieving results is key, but so is helping clients understand why—guiding them through the workings of the industry and sector dynamics. “To protect your wealth, it isn't enough to simply buy low and sell high. Gold, silver, platinum, palladium… each is unique and each reacts differently to various market stimuli. Our role is not only to help clients make the best decision, but also to ensure they understand why to acquire them, when to do so, and how to combine them to maximize their success rate,” he details. The growing interest in precious metals extends far beyond everyday citizens. One need only look at the surge in demand from central banks worldwide, whose purchasing volumes have reached historic highs over the past five years. Institutions have come to realize that protection is not synonymous with immediate profit—hence the rise in gold bullion purchases as a primary strategy to preserve value and cushion the impact of market downturns.
In today's landscape, marked by turbulence and geopolitical instability, understanding the importance of diversification is essential. “There is no guaranteed profit, only a smart strategy that minimizes risk as much as possible. That is where the role of our consultants becomes vital— they know what is best suited to your needs in every situation,” says López Milán, who takes pride in having a physical presence across nearly all of Spain, a strategy they committed to from the start. Investment precious metals, particularly gold and silver, continue to prove that their luster transcends the passage of time. Since ancient times, they have been synonymous with stability and trust—a way to look to the future with the peace of mind that the fruits of your daily effort remain secure. And herein lies the success of SilverGold Patrimonio, which continues to consolidate its position year after year through accessible, personalized solutions for those looking to turn their savings into a stronger, healthier, and more resilient wealth portfolio—ready to face any scenario, no matter how daunting. Their more than 10,000 clients bear testament to this successful model.

Before leaving, the boutique offers guests the chance to take a piece of the experience home, featuring oils crafted at the mill as well as other products associated with the project. For those seeking a more unhurried getaway, the experience is rounded out by Cortijo Almazara El Toro, a 19th-century Andalusian estate surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Late summer and early autumn offer a particularly enchanting time to stay, allowing guests to combine their stay with a museum tour, participate in tastings, savor the culinary offerings, and experience the harvest season from the inside out. Far more than a simple visit, Almazara El Toro offers a full-day experience—or an extended stay—where architecture, landscape, olive oil culture, gastronomy and hospitality converge in a single destination, inviting guests to discover Ronda through one of its most iconic products.
With the arrival of autumn, Almazara El Toro marks the beginning of one of the most special times of the year: the olive harvest and the start of a new production season. Situated at the gateway to Ronda, this destination invites visitors to discover the world of extra virgin olive oil throught a fully inmersive perspective—blending heritage, gastronomy, nature, and hospitality in an experience crafted to be enjoyed at a leisure pace. There are places you visit, and places you experience. Almazara El Toro belongs to the latter. Located just a few kilometres from Sotogrande, the world’s first signature olive oil mill—designed by Philippe Starck in operation since 2024—welcomes the arrival of a new production season. This is the period when the olive grove takes centre stage, giving visitors an up-close, hands-on look at the extra virgin olive oil production process. Production, a museum, gastronomy, landscapes, and accommodations all coexist within the same space, shaping an offering that seamlessly connects design, architecture, and EVOO culture.
As Santiago Muguiro, CEO of La Almazara el Toro, explains: “We want anyone who visits Almazara El Toro not only to learn how extra virgin olive oil is made, but to truly understand everything behind it: the work in the grove, the moment of harvest, the milling process, and also how to enjoy it around the table. The start of a new harvest season is one of the most special times to visit because guests can experience the process in a much closer and more hands-on way.” More info: WEB: https://almazaraeltoro.com/ EXPERIENCES: https://booking.almazaraeltoro.com/es CORTIJO FOR GROUPS: https://booking.almazaraeltoro.com/es/accommodation CORTIJO FOR COUPLES: https://booking.almazaraeltoro.com/es/gateway-for-two
Between late September and early October, the olive harvest begins, marking the start of the season at the mill and serving as the backdrop for one of its most unique offerings: “Produce Your Own Oil”—an experience that invites guests to take part in the harvest and learn, step by step, how extra virgin olive oil is made. This activity complements a variety of tour options offered by the facility, designed to bring EVOO culture to all audiences. Museum tours, tastings, and guided experiences are part of an educational effort aimed at sharing, in an approachable and engaging way, the craftsmanship behind every bottle. During the visit, guests also discover Almazara El Toro’s early-harvest organic oils, born from the labor in the groves and the production process highlighted along the tour. These premium organic extra virgin olive oils reflect the utmost care given to every step, from field to bottle. The experience continues at the table.
José Moro: The art of listening to Ribera del Duero Tradition, innovation, and respect for the vineyard define the philosophy of Cepa 21, a project that has managed to reinterpret the family legacy to offer a contemporary vision of Ribera del Duero without losing the essence of its origin. A philosophy based on actively listening to the vineyard, the territory, and the consumer, which in 2026 finds a new expression with the launch of La Pelliza and La Rendija, two limitededition wines that represent the ultimate evolution of José Moro’s project.

‘La Revista de Sotogrande’, led by its CEO, Curro Espinar, had the pleasure of meeting José Moro, president of Bodegas Cepa 21, at KE Sotogrande to discover the history and philosophy of a project that has turned the tradition of Ribera del Duero into a contemporary way of understanding and enjoying wine.
To speak of Cepa 21 is to speak of the personal journey of its president, José Moro, and a life shaped by the vineyard since childhood. Born in Pesquera de Duero, in the heart of Ribera del Duero in Valladolid, he grew up surrounded by vines, learning a craft from his grandfather and father that would eventually become his profession and his great passion. That connection to the land laid the foundation for a project that today represents one of the most innovative proposals in the designation of origin.
José Moro experienced firsthand the transformation that Ribera del Duero underwent during the 1980s with the consolidation of the Designation of Origin. It was a decisive period for Spanish wine in which the region reinforced its identity with wines of great personality, structure, and character—those that the winemaker himself defines as “knife-and-fork wines.” In the late 1990s, he decided to launch his most personal project, planting 50 hectares of vineyards with clones from his father’s and grandfather’s century-old vines.
In 2002 came the first harvest of Cepa 21, the wine that would mark the start of a new era for the winery. In 2007, the Bodegas Cepa 21 building opened its doors, a modern architectural construction designed to integrate into the landscape and reflect the essence of the brand: the union between tradition and modernity. Since then, the winery has combined knowledge passed down through generations with the most advanced technology and an innovative vision that has led José Moro to be recognized by Forbes as one of the 100 most innovative entrepreneurs in Spain.
Cepa 21’s philosophy stems from a premise that the prestigious winemaker considers fundamental: active listening. Listening to the vineyard, the surroundings, and also the consumer to understand how their tastes evolve without giving up the identity of Ribera del Duero. This way of understanding wine has led the winery to champion a new identity, committing to more elegant, fresh, and approachable wines from the very first glass, without losing the structure, complexity, and personality unique to the designation.

This evolution is also reflected in the way work is carried out both in the winery and in the vineyard. The incorporation of automated pump-over systems allows for greater control during extraction, favoring more balanced wines with a cleaner expression of fruit. In parallel, Cepa 21 became the first winery in Spain to implement a regenerative viticulture model tailored specifically to the vineyard, aiming to restore the soil as a living ecosystem through the use of indigenous microorganisms and organic matter originating from the plots themselves. The result is wines that seek to express their origin with greater fidelity, preserving the freshness, natural acidity, and character of the grape.
That commitment to evolution was also reflected in 2023, when the winery renewed its visual identity to coincide with its anniversary. The new labels draw upon José Moro’s personal memories and pay tribute to field work and family roots, reinforcing the bond between memory, territory, and wine.

La Pelliza and La Rendija
The desire to continue exploring new ways of interpreting Ribera del Duero materializes this year with the addition of two new high-end releases: La Pelliza and La Rendija. Crafted in very limited quantities, both represent the ultimate expression of the new path undertaken by Cepa 21 toward elegant, fresh wines deeply tied to their territory.
“If you like wine, you know about wine”.
A phrase that captures an approach to the world of wine through passion and simplicity. 86 L A R E V I S TA D E S O T O G R A N D E
La Pelliza recovers the essence of Ribera del Duero’s great historic vineyards, where different grape varieties coexisted within the same plot. It comes from a vineyard over 90 years old where Tempranillo shares space with Albillo, Garnacha, and other minor varieties, co-fermented to yield a wine of great complexity, depth, and elegance. Meanwhile, La Rendija is a single-varietal Albillo Mayor, aged entirely in French oak vats, showcasing the potential of a historic Ribera del Duero variety through a white wine of exceptional aromatic expressiveness and aging potential.

Elefant Travel has been working in that second realm since 2004. It does not sell destinations -destinations, after all, are within reach of anyone with an internet connection- it designs grand bespoke journeys for each family, one by one, from a blank slate. The difference is not one of budget; it is of authorship. A team of experts decides what goes in, what stays out, and in what order things unfold on your trip.

Behind this lies an unglamorous and highly demanding methodology. An atelier of travel designers based across Madrid, Barcelona, and Medellín who personally spend more than 200 days a year scouting the globe before proposing a thing, alongside a global network of specialists—archaeologists, conservationists, photographers, chefs—who open doors that appear in no catalog. It is a concept of luxury less concerned with marble and gold than with service, time, discretion, and discernment. Three journeys illustrate this better than any state ment of principles.

El trópico de Capricornio The Tropic of Capricorn
An imaginary line crosses southern Africa, bringing structure to an entire journey; the itinerary crosses it several times, in both directions. It begins in northern Namibia along the Kunene River, where Himba women still cover their skin with ochre and fat as they have for centuries, and travels down to Sossusvlei: climbing a sand dune at six in the morning, with the sand still cool and shadows splitting the crest in two, is one of those things that cannot be adequately explained.
Then, Botswana. The vast, silent white expanse of Makgadikgadi, an ancient inland lake now turned into a salt flat the size of Switzerland. An encounter with the San people, who teach you to read the desert as if it were an open book. And the Okavango Delta, a river that flows inward to its demise, creating a paradise in the process. The journey continues to Victoria Falls and concludes on Mozambique’s Indian Ocean beaches. None of this is accidental: it is a trip designed with discernment, progressing intentionally from scarcity of water to abundance.

Few genuinely untouched places remain, and Bhutan is one of them. The kingdom protects itself by choice: limiting visitor numbers, measuring prosperity through non-economic metrics, and preserving a way of life that in the rest of the Himalayas now exists only in old photographs. You explore with private guides and sleep remarkably well, but what stays with you afterward is not the hotel. It is having breakfast in a monastery and staying for morning prayers. It is printing your own Buddhist prayer flags with your own hands and hanging them at a mountain pass. It is an afternoon of archery—the national sport—and the astonishing contrast between distance and the locals’ precision. There are mountain trails for all levels. None is walked the same way twice. All three are starting points, not products. None has ever been executed twice in the exact same way, as they adapt to who is traveling, when, and why. As a benchmark, a twelve-day private journey ranges between €15,000 and €25,000 per person. That may seem like a lot. But perhaps expensive is the alternative: traveling halfway around the world and returning with the feeling of having seen exactly what everyone else has seen.

Traversing the Andes from north to south is not merely travel; it is witnessing how a single mountain range gives rise to incompatible worlds. It begins in Peru with Machu Picchu— and the discipline of visiting at the hour when virtually no one else is there—and descends into the Amazon, where you navigate for several days aboard a small luxury river cruise along the tributaries of its uppermost basins.

Next comes the Altiplano: the Salar de Uyuni crossed privately in extraordinary fashion, in a caravan of Airstreams, sleeping directly on the salt, with a private guide and chef, and no reference point other than the horizon. Then Atacama, the driest desert on the planet and likely the finest night sky a traveler could ever wish for. And finally, Patagonia, with its eternal glaciers and tented camps where the term “glamping” falls short, pitched right before a glacier that crackles through the night.

El Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar incorpora este servicio, que permite obtener imágenes detalladas del tubo digestivo y sus órganos adyacentes, así como tomar muestras de tejidos y realizar drenajes, siendo especialmente eficaz en la detección temprana del cáncer pancreático Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar has introduced this service, which allows for detailed imaging of the digestive tract and surrounding organs, as well as tissue sampling and therapeutic drainage, making it particularly effective in the early detection of pancreatic cancer.
Achieving an early and effective diagnosis of pancreatic lesions does not have to go hand in hand with an invasive procedure. In the context where early detection is key to facing the feared pancreatic cancer with a better prognosis, endoscopic ultrasound becomes a fundamental ally and plays an invaluable role in the diagnosis and staging of tumors. It combines digestive endoscopy and ultrasound using a flexible endoscope that, in turn, incorporates an ultrasound probe at its tip. In this way, it obtains detailed images of the digestive tract wall, as well as adjacent organs and structures (pancreatic, liver, or subepithelial lesions). At the same time, it will allow for the application of less aggressive techniques and approaches to treat lesions in the biliopancreatic area. Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar has recently introduced endoscopic ultrasound into the portfolio of services of its Gastroenterology Unit, currently being the only medical center in the region to offer this type of procedure. The head of the Gastroenterology Unit at Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar, Manuel de Sola, also explains that endoscopic ultrasound makes it possible to “obtain tissue samples in a minimally invasive manner, reduce diagnostic surgical procedures, access advanced treatments without conventional surgery in certain cases, and achieve shorter hospital stays and faster recovery for many patients.”

In addition to detecting small tumors and lesions, endoscopic ultrasound also allows for the study of pancreatic cysts and the evaluation of acute and chronic pancreatitis. Within biliopancreatic pathologies, the technique is applied to the study of the bile duct, the evaluation of biliary obstructions, and the detection of small stones not identified by other techniques.
Furthermore, linear endoscopic ultrasound allows for the staging of esophageal, stomach, rectal, and pancreatic tumors, the study of subepithelial or submucosal lesions of the digestive tract, and the evaluation of mediastinal and abdominal lymphadenopathy.
De Sola emphasizes that endoscopic ultrasound “allows fineneedle aspirations to be performed on the patient guided by real-time ultrasound, obtaining pancreatic tumor samples in a much less invasive way, as well as studying suspicious lymph nodes, diagnosing mediastinal and abdominal lesions, analyzing pancreatic cysts and providing histological confirmation of different types of tumors.”

Evolución: de técnica diagnóstica a herramienta terapéutica
Evolution: from diagnostic technique to therapeutic tool
Linear endoscopic ultrasound has evolved from a diagnostic technique into an advanced therapeutic tool. Thus, it allows for the drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts, pancreatic fluid collections, abscesses and other selected intra-abdominal collections; guided biliary and gallbladder drainages in patients who are not candidates for surgery; and celiac plexus block or neurolysis for pain management.

2026
Today, true luxury seems to have taken on a new meaning. Sleeping deeply. Waking up full of energy. Maintaining the vitality to enjoy a morning of golf, spending hours sailing, discovering a new destination, or sharing a long, lingering meal with friends. Reaching your sixties, seventies, or eighties with the freedom to keep doing what you are passionate about. The conversation no longer revolves solely around life expectancy, but around something far more valuable: the quality of those years. Science has given a name to this new understanding of well-being: wellaging. It is not about stopping time, but about learning to age better through science.
The Age That Truly Matters We all know our chronological age. However, there is another age that is far more revealing: biological age, which reflects how our cells, tissues, and organs are truly functioning. Two people born in the same year can show significant biological differences. While one maintains an efficient metabolism, strong physical capacity, and low levels of inflammation, another may exhibit signs of accelerated aging. We do not all age at the same rate. And that is, quite possibly, one of the great revolutions in modern medicine. Various studies published in Nature Reviews Genetics and Nature Aging have shown that certain biomarkers allow us to estimate the rate of biological aging and better understand how our habits influence future health. Age ceases to be merely a number, becoming information that can help us make better decisions.
When Lifestyle Converses with Our Genes For years, we believed that genetics determined our destiny. Today, we know the story is far more interesting. Epigenetics studies how factors such as nutrition, physical exercise, sleep quality, stress, and environmental exposure can modulate the expression of our genes without altering our DNA. Our genes represent the starting point, but our lifestyle writes much of the journey. Every daily decision leaves a biological footprint and can influence our body’s capacity to adapt.

Entender al organismo
Understanding the Body
Until a few years ago, continuous glucose monitoring was information largely limited to people with diabetes. Today, sensors allow us to observe twenty-four hours a day how our metabolism responds to a meal, a workout session, a poor night’s sleep, or a period of stress.
106 L A R E V I S TA D E S O T O G R A N D E
What is truly interesting is not chasing perfect numbers, but discovering that every organism responds differently. Personalized medicine is born precisely there: in understanding that two people can lead similar lifestyles and yet require different strategies to optimize their well-being.
Invisible Beauty For decades, we associated beauty with what could be corrected from the outside. Today, we are beginning to understand that the most lasting beauty is born much earlier: from a body capable of repairing its tissues, managing inflammation, maintaining metabolic balance, preserving muscle mass, resting deeply, and adapting to the passage of time. In 2023, the updated Hallmarks of Aging, led by Spanish researcher Carlos López-Otín and published in Cell, reinforced the idea that aging is driven by multiple interconnected biological processes—from epigenetic alterations to chronic low-grade inflammation and the loss of cellular resilience. Understanding these mechanisms opens the door to a more predictive, personalized, and preventive medicine. All of this is driving aesthetic medicine to evolve toward longevity medicine.

La velocidad como forma de excelencia
Speed as a form of excellence
Since its creation in 2019, the Rolex SailGP Championship has transformed high-performance sailing. Fremantle, the setting for the first major duel of 2026, is one of the world’s most demanding racecourses due to its famous afternoon winds, known as the ‘Fremantle Doctor’, and its changing conditions.

The combination of technological innovation and human talent is one of SailGP’s defining traits. All teams compete in identical boats, so the difference lies in the ability to read the wind, react faster than rivals, and execute every maneuver with precision.

Porto Rotondo, in the heart of the Costa Smeralda, became the meeting point for the Itama community for three days. Boating, gastronomy, music and Mediterranean sunsets set the scene for the unveiling of the new Itama 70 and a celebration of the brand’s distinctive way of experiencing life on the water.
Some places seem made for an Itama yacht. Porto Rotondo is one of them. From 10 to 12 July, the waters of the Costa Smeralda hosted the Itama Power Circle, bringing together owners and selected guests around a simple idea: enjoying the sea with freedom and Italian style.
The Itama fleet took over Marina di Porto Rotondo, where the new Itama 70 occupied centre stage. Moored in the marina and open to visitors throughout the event, the new model offered a closer look at the evolution of a brand whose identity combines openair boating, performance and understated elegance.
The Hotel Sporting Porto Rotondo was the starting point. A poolside cocktail led into the opening dinner and the official unveiling of the new 70. With the Sardinian sea as a backdrop, the yacht made its appearance as fireworks lit up the bay, marking the beginning of the 2026 Power Circle.
But the real Itama experience begins when the yachts leave the marina.
The following morning, the fleet cruised together along the Sardinian coast. The yacht parade allowed owners and guests to experience first-hand some of the qualities at the heart of the brand: speed, manoeuvrability, elegance and, above all, the pleasure of being out on the open water. The sight of the Itama yachts cruising together through Sardinia’s crystal-clear waters captured, better than any words, the connection between the brand and its community.

The event also reflects Itama’s distinctive position within Ferretti Group. While other propositions focus more strongly on cruising, Itama remains rooted in open yachts, a direct connection with the sea and a more relaxed interpretation of luxury—one closely associated with freedom.

The unveiling of the new Itama 70 therefore carried particular significance: the model brings together the timeless elegance, craftsmanship and free spirit that have defined Itama’s history, with the ambition of becoming one of the brand’s next icons.

Dolce&Gabbana, Garmin, responsible for illuminating the fleet, My Style Bags, Seabob and Sebago, which created a pop-up store featuring items from the Itama collection, also joined the event.

This summer, the municipality of San Roque will once again take center stage on the international polo scene with the 55th ATL International Polo Tournament, organized by Ayala Polo Club. Running from 27th of July until the 29th of Aogust, the competition will gather some of the world’s finest players to compete for the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Cups across High, Medium, and Low Handicap categories. The Mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, attended the official presentation of the tournament alongside Ayala Polo Club President Paola Zóbel; tournament sports director Manu Cereceda; and Third Vice-President of the Provincial Council of Cádiz Jacinto Muñoz, representing one of the event’s key sponsoring institutions. Also representing the City Council were Deputy Mayor for Sports Fernando Vega, alongside Councilors for Tourism and the Guadiaro Valley, Alfonso Valdivia and Eva Gil. During his address, Ruiz Boix highlighted the importance of the tournament for the municipality and praised Ayala Polo Club’s dedication to keeping alive a competition that, as he noted, turns San Roque into the world’s premier polo hub during the summer months. Furthermore, he emphasized that the club’s year-round efforts have successfully expanded the sport’s calendar, extending competitions from spring all the way into autumn. The mayor also celebrated the participation of Íñigo Zóbel, who will be competing in this edition at age 70, and highlighted the addition to his team of Argentine player Camilo Castagnola, widely considered one of the top figures in world polo. Ruiz Boix added that the tournament provides a major boost to the local economy, driving high occupancy across hotels and restaurants throughout the summer thanks to a combination of attractions including the Sotogrande Marina, the municipality’s nine golf courses, and the International Polo Tournament itself. For her part, Paola Zóbel explained that her father, Íñigo Zóbel, was determined not to miss this year’s edition despite his age, affirming that the organization’s goal is to “honor, protect, and grow the legacy” of a family inextricably linked to the founding and development of both Sotogrande and international polo.

Talent is right here; opportunities are not always. The Valderrama Foundation connects young people from the Campo de Gibraltar with the educational, athletic, and personal development opportunities offered by Sotogrande. Founded in 2025, the Foundation stems from a simple conviction: where a young person grows up should not limit how far they can go. Its purpose is to uncover talent where opportunities do not always reach and guide them through a decisive stage of their development. Based in Sotogrande and with a vision encompassing the entire Campo de Gibraltar, the Foundation identifies young people with strong academic performance, a firm commitment to golf, and solid values—whose families might otherwise face barriers accessing the educational and sporting possibilities of the Sotogrande ecosystem. From that point forward, a long-term journey of mentorship begins through a pivotal stage of their growth.

An Opportunity That Goes Far Beyond a Scholarship
Integra tres pilares: académica, deportiva y humana.
The program does not stop at funding an education. It integrates three core pillars: academic, athletic, and personal development.
In the educational sphere, scholarship recipients gain access to Sotogrande International School—a member of the Inspired Education Group—and an international education framed by the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Studying in English, living within a multicultural community, and developing critical thinking, autonomy, and confidence tangibly expand their academic and professional prospects, both in Spain and abroad.
In the athletic realm, the young golfers follow a high-performance golf training and development program at La Reserva Club, home to the Valderrama Foundation Golf Academy. This elite training allows them to elevate their game without losing the bond with their home clubs, coaches, and roots.
140 L A R E V I S TA D E S O T O G R A N D E
The third dimension—the foundation supporting the other two—is personal and professional development. The Foundation accompanies each student and their family through the transition to a new educational system, learning in English, and balancing demanding academics with training schedules. Furthermore, it helps them cultivate essential competencies for any future career: communication, independence, accountability, teamwork, and decision-making judgment.
Leadership That Bridges Two Worlds The Foundation is led by Silvia Serrano, whose background bridges the two worlds the project aims to bring together. For over thirteen years, she built a vital part of her career at Real Club Valderrama in executive roles spanning management and club operations. To this expertise, she adds international professional experience in the United States, focused on training, team development, and organizational culture. Her deep knowledge of Valderrama, international experience, and personal and professional ties to the Campo de Gibraltar provide a uniquely valuable perspective: understanding the high standards of a benchmark institution while translating its values into the daily lives of the children and their families. This connection ensures that commitment, integrity, respect, effort, and humility are not mere statements, but become concrete expectations, habits, and hands-on guidance.

El golf como escuela de vida
Local talent, global opportunities”
At the Valderrama Foundation, golf is an educational tool, not the sole destination. It teaches how to compete while maintaining respect, to take responsibility for every decision, and to keep going after a bad shot. Few sports demonstrate so clearly that results depend on the work put in when no one is watching.
Scholarships are awarded per academic year and renewed annually. While there is a clear commitment to continuity, it is not treated as an entitlement: it depends on students maintaining the required academic performance, conduct, and dedication. The opportunity is extraordinary; the responsibility to make the most of it, equally so. The aspiration is not merely to develop great players. It is to help shape individuals equipped to make decisions, collaborate with others, handle frustration, and one day give back to the community they come from. Success can take many forms: a university spot, a professional career—whether in sports or beyond—or the ability to serve as a role model for other young people across the Campo de Gibraltar.
Talento local, oportunidades globales
Local Talent, Global Opportunities
The strength of the Foundation also lies in its connection to institutions capable of opening real doors. Sotogrande International School provides the academic component; La Reserva Club - Sotogrande S.A., the setting and athletic expertise; and LIV Golf, as institutional sponsor and longterm partner, supports the academic and sporting growth of local youth.

The first cohort of scholarship recipients has already begun this journey. Every school day, every training session, and every challenge overcome are part of a process that seeks not quick results, but sustained progress. The Foundation aims to grow gradually and responsibly, expanding the number of beneficiaries without compromising the individual attention or high standards that give credibility to the program.
A Legacy Beginning Now Valderrama is internationally renowned for the excellence of its course, its history, and for having hosted some of golf’s greatest moments. But its legacy transcends competition and reflects a historical commitment to the community, of which the development of Club de Golf La Cañada—the first public golf course on the Costa del Sol and a renowned breeding ground for golfers—serves as one of its finest examples. The Valderrama Foundation builds upon this vocation of service, adding a new dimension to the club’s legacy: putting its convening power, knowledge, and network at the service of youth and the wider community. To turn this ambition into an enduring institution, the Foundation seeks to bring together individuals, companies, and organizations that share a single belief: a well-directed opportunity does not just change one life; it can raise the expectations of an entire generation. Partnering means expanding the program’s reach without sacrificing rigorous selection, personalized guidance, and accountability. The talent is already here. The next step is ensuring that more young people find the opportunity to prove just how far they can go.

Following the event at La Reserva Club, the circuit was set to continue on August 22nd at La Hacienda Links Golf, a course featuring views of the Rock of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean, before reaching one of this edition’s new highlights: the September 22nd event at Atalaya Golf & Resort, a venue joining the calendar for the very first time. The competition would conclude with the grand final on October 31st at Club de Golf El Saler in Valencia, one of the flagship courses on the national scene. Qualified players would reach this final event based on the circuit’s scoring system, which rewarded consistency and required submitting at least the three best scorecards. With just two qualifying rounds remaining, the XIII Sotogrande Golf Circuit entered a decisive phase where every scorecard could shift the standings and define the names of the players who would battle for the title in the grand final. A competition that combined golf and experience. Beyond the sporting aspect, the Sotogrande Golf Circuit maintained its commitment to creating an experience around the game. After each event, participants shared a social gathering featuring culinary offerings and sponsor-led activities, alongside the awards presentation and the traditional final raffle. 2026

Since its founding in 1962, summer has been the soul of Sotogrande. The residential development conceived by American visionary Joseph McMicking was born with a clear vision: to create a place where families could enjoy a privileged lifestyle in harmony with nature, sports, and the sea. And it was precisely during the summer months that this dream reached its fullest expression. Although Sotogrande has always maintained activity yearround, the arrival of summer brought a special vibrant energy to the estate. Families living across the globe returned faithfully to reconnect with friends, neighbors, and traditions that, over time, became woven into the very identity of the place. The days felt endless, and the nights were filled with gatherings, celebrations, and memories passed down from generation to generation. Children were always at the heart of those summers. Sandcastles, Olympics at the legendary El Cucurucho Beach Club, youth tournaments, parties, theatrical performances, scavenger hunts, and outdoor games formed part of an unforgettable childhood. For young people, summer meant new friendships, adventures, and a sense of freedom that found its perfect backdrop in Sotogrande.

From the very beginning, sports formed one of the main pillars upon which the lifestyle of the estate was built. Golf, polo, and sailing—disciplines that were uncommon in the Spanish 1960s found a decisive boost in Sotogrande, eventually becoming international benchmarks. These were joined by other activities such as tennis, fronton, and equestrian sports, completing a sporting offering that set the rhythm of every summer.
