The stories that bring meaning to summer
In Sotogrande, June marks the moment when the destination begins to unleash all its potential. The calendar fills, activity grows more intense and residents, visitors and professionals cross paths again, each contributing through their field, to define the character of this part of southern Europe.
However, aside from the major events, there is something that deserves to be reasserted: the stories that explain who we are.
In this edition we are turning our attention to LIV Golf Andalusia, a tournament that has provided memorable images and that, once again, has put Valderrama in the international spotlight. We are also doing so through reflection and analysis, through the assessment of its director, Javier Reviriego, regarding an event that continues to evolve without losing the rigour that has made this course a global benchmark. There is also space to remember that sport is much more than competition. Initiatives such as the adapted golf organised by La Cañada show that the true greatness of sport lies in its ability to integrate, break down barriers and create opportunities where previously there were only limits.
In another equally inspiring vein, this edition also reports the excitement of those who are beginning to take their first steps in elite competition. Young golfing hopefuls from our area will tackle an important event in Murcia at the end of the month, reminding us that the future of this sport is built each day based on learning and commitment.
And, meanwhile, summer is beginning to create its own soundtrack. Outdoor concerts, artists who find inspiration by the Mediterranean, beach bars transformed into meeting places and new experiences linked to wellness and the sea are part of the daily life that often ends up defining a destination as much as its big headlines.
Sotogrande is normally in the news thanks to its sporting excellence, its range of properties, and its ability to attract attention from around the world. However, perhaps its true value resides in something less visible: the sum of people, initiatives, and projects that sustain that reputation day after day and which shape the content of a brand that has been built over decades.
The following content is an invitation to discover some of those stories. Because ultimately, they are what reminds us that a destination isn’t only explained by what it offers, but also by the people who breathe life into it.
Carta del Director FRANCIS MENA
Director
Actualizarse o perecer.
“If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change.” The famous reflection that Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa put into the mouth of one of the characters in The Leopard, his novel on Italian unification, is a widely used rhetorical paradox, which indicates that it is useful in many situations. For example, we can use it to talk about the situation with El Periódico de Sotogrande
A quotation about how change doesn’t always have to eradicate the past, but rather preserve that which deserves to remain, urges us to adapt the form to protect the essence, evolve without sacrificing principles.
The new owners of Group HCP, alongside the local businessman Curro Espinar, is clear about that philosophy. The essence is Sotogrande, with its environment, a concept more than a place, a way of life more than a brand. The principles are headed in that direction: contribute to Sotogrande, to its name, its companies, and its people.
We also want to strengthen our leadership, built newspaper by newspaper, day by day, over several decades, and remain a publishing and media leader in the most exclusive area of southern Europe.
To achieve it, for things to remain as they are, change is needed. We, the owners and current management, believe that to this end it is really necessary to strengthen the old relationships and create new ones or revive some that may have been lost along the way over almost three decades, something that is inevitable.
Modernisation is another essential part of this new era. The new communication tools don’t only change our lives, they also change language. They impose styles, times, the format, and sometimes, even the content. It isn’t possible to turn our backs on the wave that always hits us and that, with a very common metaphor from our CEO, we must know how to surf. Remain up to date or perish.
Meeting the expectations of Sotogrande, in terms of luxury and excellence, isn’t easy at all. However, that is indeed an advantage: there are endless options to highlight and promote its assets. At this media outlet we want to continue to do so but with a new focus, maintaining that which has made this brand great for years, such as paper publications, but also updating and adapting to new times.
Changing to ensure that the essential remains. That is the spirit with which we are tackling this new era: evolving in order to continue to live up to the expectations of Sotogrande.

For years, residential luxury was associated with large properties, prime locations and an aspirational lifestyle. Today, however, the concept seems to be moving towards more complex parameters that are not just to do with the financial value of the home. The market seems to be evolving towards a more sophisticated reality, in which exclusivity is no longer defined only by the price of a property, but also by everything that surrounds it.
High-purchasing-power buyers are more analytical and experienced than ever. Property acquisition is increasingly becoming part of an overall wealth strategy, in which aspects such as value preservation, future liquidity and geographical diversification are growing in importance. This was explained at the beginning of the year by the specialised luxury property network The Simple Rent, which identified a change in trend towards more thoughtful and strategic purchasing decisions.
In this new scenario, factors such as the exact location, privacy, architectural design, views, the quality of associated services or the uniqueness of each property gain weight compared to other traditional criteria. Current buyers compare destinations internationally and look for complete residential experiences that combine quality of life, differential services and security with a future wealth perspective.
Why Sotogrande continues to gain international interest
Sotogrande fits perfectly into this new demand profile. Its low-density urban model, landscape integration, discretion and consolidated offering around sport, wellness and open-air living have helped strengthen its position as one of the most exclusive residential destinations in Southern Europe.
The data published this year by the real-estate website idealista point in that direction. The average price of housing reached 3,712 euros per square metre after registering a year-on-year increase of 10.8 %, historical highs since there have been records in the area.
Beyond the behaviour of prices, these figures reflect the solidity of a market where demand maintains a high level of activity and where international interest continues to grow. Currently, Spanish buyers remain the majority, representing around 65 % of interest, with Madrid as the main source market. However, the international component already accounts for 35% of searches, led by the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States, a trend that reinforces the external reach of the destination.
It also changes the way we understand investment. According to The Simple Rent, high-equity investors prioritise assets that combine quality of life with the ability to preserve value in the medium and long term. In this context, consolidated residential markets with a clear identity acquire
a competitive advantage that is difficult to replicate. Within Sotogrande itself, enclaves
such as La Reserva illustrate this market transformation especially well. International demand reaches
even higher levels and interest is especially concentrated in higher-value properties, confirming the conso-
lidation of the enclave in the most exclusive segment of the European residential market.
Religion and society
The warm welcome received by Pope Leo XIV on his recent visit to Spain attracted the attention of some observers. I suspect their amazement stems more from the fact that they pay more attention to politics than they do to society.
Both in our country and in the rest of the Christian world, contemporary states were built at the margin of religion and sometimes against it. Modernity and progress were viewed as distant from the idea of God, and secularism or the non-denominational State were considered bastions of a new politics that sought to free itself from religious ties and often also consensuses and moral rigours.
Society seemed to accompany this political journey,

but appearances are deceiving. Despite the indifference or hostility of political authorities and intellectual and cultural benchmarks, religion persisted and communities continued to cultivate it in very different ways, as was always evident in traditional displays of popular religiosity in our country in general and in our Andalusia in particular. Something similar happened with the mistrust of moral relativism, supposedly a sign of an advanced society.
Alongside these attitudes came another subsequently, which is increasingly clear: the rejection of the growing invasion of the rights and freedoms of citizens by Public Administrations, whether on the right or left.
The sum of all this puts us in a new setting that ex-
plains how an American pope who is a Peruvian national has travelled around Spain and been acclaimed by the masses when the messages he sends are the opposite of the favourites of politics, culture, and the media, because he defends God, religion, family, ethics, life, and freedom. He is wary of the idea that any law is good provided that it is approved by a majority and he doesn’t believe that abortion and euthanasia are progressive.
Why was he also applauded by members of parliament and senators? Perhaps because he reflects values that are above politics and shared and appreciated by society, a society that, despite everything, is more in tune with Christianity than with politics.

J.A.: Nos condiciona completamente.

San Roque Gardens: Mediterranean cuisine with local produce and tradition at Hotel Inmood San Roque
The chef Juanjo Acosta analyses the identity of the restaurant, its commitment to local produce and its role within the gastronomic offer of Hotel Inmood San Roque
Juanjo Acosta, chef at the restaurant San Roque Gardens, located within Hotel Inmood San Roque, shared his vision with us about the evolution of gastronomy, the value of produce and the role he wants the restaurant to play within the culinary offer of the Sotogrande area.
Composition: San Roque Gardens has established itself as an open proposal for both hotel guests and customers who come specifically to enjoy its cuisine. How would you define the restaurant’s identity and what do you think makes it different within the area’s gastronomic offer?
Juanjo Acosta: At San Roque Gardens we commit to Mediterranean cuisine based on local produce, respect for the raw materials and a very clear philosophy: to evolve without ever losing the essence of traditional cuisine. We believe that it is necessary to know and respect the roots of the cuisine; that is where everything begins.
“Before
Mediterranean cuisine is normally created through respect for the produce. To what extent does the environment and local produce dictate the creation of the menu?
J.A.: It dictates everything. We work a lot with kilometre zero produce and give a starring role to produce from our region such as payoyo cheese, retinta beef and net caught bluefin tuna. Our cuisine is very linked to the environment, always committing to local produce and to honest and recognisable cuisine.
Sotogrande and its area have an increasingly broad and selective gastronomic offer. What do you think diners are looking for today when they choose a restaurant like San Roque Gardens?
J.A.: I think that today clients seek authenticity and experience. They no longer want to eat well, they also want to understand the produce, appreciate the quality of what they consume and enjoy an experience and an environment
innovating it is necessary to know and respect the foundations of cooking. We like to evolve, but we believe in tradition, technique, and respect for produce.”
where everything is coherent, from the cuisine to the service and the atmosphere.
At a time when many proposals seek to constantly surprise, how do you find the balance between creativity and honesty in the kitchen?
J.A.: For us, creativity always stems from knowledge. Before innovating it is necessary to know and respect the foundations of cooking. We like to evolve, but we believe that tradition, technique, and respect for produce are the true essence of any good dish. Therefore we always try to be at the
cutting edge of gastronomy, working with the best products and the best ideas.
If someone visits San Roque Gardens for the first time, what three dishes would you recommend to understand the essence of the gastronomic proposal of the restaurant and why?
J.A.: I would begin with our range of payoyo cheese croquettes, because they really represent our commitment to local produce; I would continue with the tarantelo (cut from belly) of net caught bluefin tuna on stone, one of our new additions, perfect for sharing; and I would finish with the sirloin of retinta beef accompanied by truffle infused potato purée and grilled vegetables, which perfectly sums up our cooking philosophy.
Aside from the dish, what elements do you consider essential for a diner to remember a gastronomic experience?
J.A.: A memorable experience doesn’t only depend on the cuisine. The service, attention to detail and atmosphere are equally important. When everything is in harmony is when you really note the difference, and that is what we want at San Roque Gardens.
What new developments, additions or projects can you an-
nounce ahead of this season?
J.A.: We continue to develop our gastronomic proposal without losing our essence. This season we have added new dishes such as the tuna tarantelo (belly cut) served on stone, an idea that came from our F&B manager, Paco Galván.
It is a proposal that gives the customer the option to see the product practically from scratch, completely raw and cold, and cook it and season it according to their taste thanks to a stone that has been preheated and garnishes prepared in the kitchen.
We are also focusing on different menus for events, weddings, and communions, developing a proposal that turns every occasion into an experience for the diner.
And, to finish, what role would you like San Roque Gardens to play on the gastronomic scene in San Roque and Sotogrande?
J.A.: We would like to establish ourselves as a gastronomic benchmark in the area, committing to cuisine with its own identity, based on local produce, Mediterranean cuisine and respect for tradition. We want to continue growing without ever losing our essence or our way of understanding cuisine.

Water yoga: from Sotogrande to other marinas
The next events will take place on 19 and 26 June in Sotogrande Port, with new additions planned in other Andalusian ports
After the great reception for the first SUP Yoga days held in Sotogrande Port, the initiative continues to grow and extend its presence in other parts of the Andalusian coast. This format, which combines a SUP Yoga session, a gastronomic proposal in the port area and an element of charity and inclusiveness through activities aimed at associations from the area, has aroused the interest of different ports that are part of the network of Andalusian Marinas.
The next area to join this proposal will be La Duquesa Port, which is already working to or-
ganise future days. The aim is to continue to introduce people to a discipline that combines sport, wellness, inclusion, and the connection to the sea in different destinations along the Andalusian coast.
Meanwhile, Sotogrande Port will remain one of the main venues for this initiative over the summer months. The next planned events notably include the days scheduled on 19 and 26 June, which will take place in collaboration with Sailing Tealie.
The experience includes a sailing trip lasting approximately
two hours that ends at sunset with a SUP Yoga session in a peaceful area of the coastline. A proposal combining sailing, nature, and wellness, that makes it possible to discover the maritime environment from a different perspective.
The interest in these types of activities is also reflected in the growing number of nautical companies that are adding SUP Yoga as an extra activity within their leisure and maritime experience options, responding to growing demand for initiatives linked to wellness and active tourism.
Boards designed for doing sport on water
The activity is carried out with the collaboration of the instructor Laura Cortés, organiser of SUP yoga.
One of the key elements of this discipline are the specific boards used to do yoga, pilates, and functional training on water. With a width of almost 87 centimetres, they have been designed to offer a wide and safe surface that makes it easier to do exercises on water.
According to Laura Cortés,
these dimensions meet the need to provide a greater feeling of balance and safety for participants. Unlike conventional recreational boards, they have a more rectangular structure and an anti-slip EVA rubber cover that improves grip during the activity.
The instructor also highlights that it isn’t necessary to have prior experience to enjoy this form of sport, as it is designed to adapt to both beginners and those who regularly do wellness and fitness activities.

The Port of Sotogrande, a benchmark in Andalusia for quality and sustainability in tourism
In Marbella, the San Roque marina took part in the ceremony to present the Q for Quality and S for Tourism Sustainability Flags, a recognition of the commitment of beaches and marinas of Andalusia with excellent management
Sotogrande Port features among the Andalusian tourism locations distinguished for their commitment to quality and sustainability.
On 15 June, the San Roque marina was present in Marina at the ceremony to present the Q for Quality and S for Tourism Sustainability Flags to certified beaches and marina, an event that showcases the work carried out by spaces that have accredited high management and service standards.
The event, held at the facilities of Andalucía Lab, was organised by the Department of Tourism and Andalusia Abroad and by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality and Sustainability (ICTES). In attendance representing Sotogrande Port was Eli Rmoas, head of the Customer Service Department, Quality, Environment and External Relations for the marina.
The presence of Sotogrande Port at this event is part of a journey of sustained work on quality and sustainability, a reflection of the commitment taken on by the San Roque marina with responsible management targeted at ongoing improvement.
A model of ongoing improvement
During Fitur 2026, the marina renewed the S for Tourism Sustainability Certification for Marinas, an award given by the ICTES that endorses the integration of environmental, social, and quality criteria for port management. Also, Sotogrande Port was the first Andalusian marina to obtain this distinction, which it has maintained since 2024.
This distinction comes following other accreditations that endorse the management model undertaken by the San Roque marina, including the Blue Flag and the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications. A set of tools aimed at strengthening the quality of service, environmental protection, safety, and the ongoing improvement of its processes.
Miguel Ángel Díez, managing director of Sotogrande Port, highlighted that “being present at this event is an endorsement of a way of understanding port management based on quality, sustainability, and environmental responsibility. These distinctions encourage us to continue working with a long term vision, integrating ongoing improvement into daily operations and into the relationship of the port with its community and with the region.”

What makes Spain’s best rated hotels different?
The key lies not in the star rating or the price, but in the experience the guest enjoys during their stay, from the service they receive to the little touches that make all the difference
Choosing a hotel has become one of the most decisive decisions when it comes to planning a trip. Before booking, travellers compare prizes, analyse photographs and, above all, consult the opinions of other guests. In that process, some hotels systematically manage to place themselves above others in terms of rankings. The question is clear: what makes Spain’s best rated hotels different?
A clear reference is provided by the Traveller Review Awards de Booking.com, awards based exclusively on verified reviews from clients who stayed in the hotels.
Specifically, the Traveller Review Awards by Booking.com are aimed at recognising the great work involved in offering an excellent stay or a perfect trip: that little extra effort to ensure that every moment is special.
To compete for this reward, hotels must attain an average mini-
mum score of 8 out of 10 and maintain it consistently. It isn’t a one-off result, but rather an experience sustained over time and viewed positively by travellers stay after stay.
Among the most influential factors in these ratings, human treatment stands out in first place. Guests particularly value the closeness of staff, their willingness to help and effectiveness when it comes to resolving any incidents. The quality of service can make the difference even more so than facilities.
Attention to detail is also essential. The comfort of the rooms, cleanliness, taking care of communal spaces and little gestures that improve the stay contribute decisively to the overall perception of the hotel. They are elements that strengthen the feeling of wellness during the visit.
Another essential aspect is the consistency of service. The
best rated establishments are the ones that are able to maintain a high standard continuously, something that creates trust among clients and encourages both repeat visits and recommendations.
Overall, the opinions of travellers reflect a clear trend: rather than the hotel category or the price, hospitality remains the main dis-
tinguishing factor. This trend is observed in all types of tourist destinations in Spain, also in areas like Sotogrande, where the guest experience decisively defines the final rating.
San Roque hosts the most magical night of the year
The traditional burning of the juanillos (little Johns) will take place on Torreguadiaro beach at midnight, before continuing with live music
In San Roque, the start of summer smells of the grill and sea salt, along with the heat of the traditional bonfire on the night of San Juan. As tradition dictates, the burning of the juanillos will be the star event of an evening that marks the summer solstice, and for the most superstitious, it is a time to leave behind the bad and welcome the good, by making a wish.
The crowning moment of the night will come at midnight. With the change of day, at midnight on 24 June, the traditional juanillos (little Johns), artistic figures made from rags and wood, will be set alight.
One of the oldest, most symbolic and widespread festivities in Spain. The roots of this celebration are pagan and are linked to the summer solstice. Its roots are pagan, linked to the summer solstice, welcoming in the new season. That is where its “magic” comes from, leaving behind the darkness and stepping into new beginnings.
Although the magic of San Juan will be felt in several parts of the municipality, Torreguadiaro beach will once again be the place with the largest crowd.

Gold and silver strengthen their role as a safe-haven asset
Precious metal investment is continuing to gain prominence among those seeking long-term financial stability and diversification, explains the CEO of SilverGold Patrimonio, Francisco Javier López Milán
In wealth management there is a premise that rarely loses validity, whatever the context: growing wealth is as important as preserving it. Economic cycles, inflation, geopolitical uncertainty and financial market turbulence can erode the value of wealth built over years on the back of hard work and sacrifice. As a result, more and more investors are incorporating stores of value that can provide stability, diversification and peace of mind long term.
And some alternatives that best fulfil this function come from the same family: precious investment metals. Primarily gold and silver, which for millennia have maintained their ability to preserve wealth even in times of great uncertainty. Unlike other financial assets, they are not dependent on an issuer’s creditworthiness or subject to an entity’s risk of bankruptcy. Their value is intrinsic and universally recognised.
They have established themselves as the safe-haven asset para excellence. Their historical performance shows a remarkable ability to protect purchasing power from inflation and to act as a counterweight in periods of high market volatility. It is no coincidence that, in the case of gold, central banks, sovereign wealth funds and large financial institutions continue to increase their reserves as part of their protection strategies.
Entering the precious metals market involves more than just buying a gold ingot, a coin or a jewel. Product selection, the provenance of the metal, certification of the pieces, safekeeping options and planning when and how much to buy are factors that can make a difference in the end result of a strategy. Professional experience and support therefore play an essential role.
In this area, SilverGold Patrimonio has established itself
as a leading firm in Spain. Since 2018, the Málaga company has operated with a clear mission: to bring precious investment metals closer to those seeking to protect and strengthen their wealth through transparent and sustainable solutions tailored to each investor profile. Its catalogue includes ingots and coins from some of the most prestigious refineries and mints in the world, always with the highest standards of authentication and traceability.
Beyond buying and selling, SilverGold Patrimonio offers a comprehensive service that includes close support, different growth plans tailored to the buyer’s profile, safekeeping solutions and monitoring. A service designed for those who understand that true wealth doesn’t just consist of growing assets, but also preserving them intelligently so that they continue to add value in the future and leave a legacy for your

San Roque Rhythmic Gymnastics
Sport in San Roque was once again in celebratory mood thanks to the outstanding role of the young athletes who achieved a silver medal. This weekend, the Juan Gómez “Juanito” Municipal Sports Pavilion, located in the Malaga town of Fuengirola, become the setting for rhythmic gymnastics by hosing the final stage of the Andalusian Pre-Cup Championship.
At this demanding event, San Roque Rhythmic Gymnastics Club dazzled in its own light when one of its teams achieved the silver medal and was crowned runner-up in Andalusia, consolidating the great technical level and excellent project of the local club.
San Roque Rhythmic Gymnastics Club had a spectacular qualifying stage, managing to get two teams into the 18 finalists in the category, an achievement that showcases the extraordinary daily work in the training sessions.
The crowning moment of the day came when the team formed by Laura del Valle, Mara Jiménez, Enola Rodríguez and the sisters Alejandra and Irene Fabregat took to the mat. These five gymnasts displayed complete togetherness, enviable sporting maturity and millimetric precision in each of their movements, achieving a fantastic second place.
The second team presented by San Roque Rhythmic Gymnastics Club also displayed a great level of technique. Despite producing a choreography of great merit and difficulty, the typical nerves of a big Andalusian final caused problems. The gymnasts were able to recover and completed their exercise, obtaining an honourable twelfth
place in the overall ranking in the final, making it into the top half of the table of the best gymnasts in the region.
Quizá el problema es que el mal hace ruido y el bien trabaja en silencio. Un accidente abre informativos; millones de trayectos seguros no merecen ni una línea. Un fraude ocupa conversaciones durante días;
What sustains the world

Every morning, thousands of planes take off and land normally. Bridges remain standing. Water comes out of the tap clean. Supermarkets are supplied. Hospitals work. Traffic lights regulate traffic and millions of people reach their destinations safely.
All of this happens because there is an immense network of trust between strangers.
We trust whoever inspected the lift, whoever designed a road, whoever manufactured a drug or whoever made the bread before dawn. The vast majority of those people will never appear in a newspaper or receive public recognition. They simply do their job well.
Perhaps the problem is that bad makes noise and good works in silence. An accident causes news stories: millions of safe journeys don’t even get a single line. Fraud takes up conversations for days; thousands of honest professionals go completely unnoticed.

This isn’t naivety. The world has injustices, mistakes, and dishonest people. However, there is a vast majority of men and women who, responsibly and with discretion, make it possible for our life to operate with the normality that we take for granted.
Marcus Aurelius wrote that “what brings no benefit to the hive brings none to the bee.” A simple phrase that contains an enormous truth: none of us truly prosper if we stop looking after the place we belong to.
And perhaps the challenge lies within that. Rather than wondering if we can trust others, we should ask if others can trust us. If we do our work honestly. If we fulfil our word. If we leave things a little better than we found them.
Because, ultimately, what sustains the world isn’t big statements or brilliant speeches. It is sustained by millions of anonymous people who, each day, decide to do their part well. I hope that we are one of them.

Most iconic American property agency puts focus on Sotogrande
The Corcoran group, an international benchmark in the high end property sector, identifies Sotogrande among the main prime markets in Spain for future expansion.
Sotogrande continues to strengthen its position on the international map of luxury property. The latest example comes alongside the American Corcoran group, one of the most renowned brands in the high-end residential sector, which has included the resort among the strategic destinations for its expansion in Spain.
The company has just disembarked in the Spanish market with the opening of its first office on the Costa Cálida (Murcia Region), according to sources from the company reported by Idealista, under the brand name Corcoran Micasamo. Although its initial activity will focus on the coast of Murcia, Alicante, and Almería, the brand has outlined its intention to gain a presence in some of the country’s most exclusive locations, including Sotogrande, Marbella, the Balearic Islands, and Madrid.
Founded in the seventies by Barbara Corcoran, one of the most influential figures in the American property sector, the company has built its reputation through high end operations in iconic markets such as the Hamptons and New York, as well as cities such as Miami and San Francisco. After establishing itself in countries such as Italy, Portugal, and Germany, Spain is
now becoming a new piece in its European strategy.
High end property investment
The choice of Sotogrande within this small group of destinations confirms the appeal that the area’s property market continues to arouse among the big international operators. Aside from the figures and transac-
tions, these types of movements show that Sotogrande continues to be viewed from outside as one of the big luxury property markets in Europe. Its combination of privacy, quality of life, range of sport, security and international projection continue to put it among the most sought after locations for high end property investment.
Corcoran highlights that Spain has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations in Europe for international buyers, thanks to factors such as climate, lifestyle, and the diversity of its property offer. Within this context, Sotogrande once again appears linked to markets that are able to attract selective and global clients.
The brand, which has operated in Spain since 2021 through Corcoran Micasamo, has already participated in some of the most notable transactions in the Murcia market and has turned its attention to new opportunities for growth within the most exclusive property segment.

Leo XIV and the transformative power of mediation
Among the valuable messages left from the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain, there is one that deserves special attention: his call for the recognition of mediation as a path to build understanding and future sustainability. There are several aspects I would like to highlight:
1. Cordoba and Toledo: as an example of places where cultures converge Leo XIV mentioned the cities of Cordoba and Toledo as places where languages, religions, and knowledge converge, recalling that some of the most brilliant eras of our history emerged through collaboration and not confrontation.
At present, diversity is now the norm, yet differences are still normally presented as threats, the Pope’s message is particularly urgent and valuable for reflection: it is time to delve deeper into the nuances and build new knowledge.
2. Mediation doesn’t eliminate conflicts, it transforms them into solutions
Leo XIV’s invitation for leaders to sit down at tables for dialogue and mediation reminds us that the great advances of humanity are rarely the result of enforcement.
They are born out of dialogue and, often, from mediated negotiation and mediating leadership.
And this doesn’t only apply to international conflicts. It is also valid for organisations, companies, universities, public administrations, and problems at home.
Sustainable organisations aren’t ones where disagreements never arise. They are the ones that have learned to prevent them, tackle them on time and transform them into opportunities for improvement, innovation, and collective learning.
3. Less polarisation, more sustainable relationships
While opinions about rigid stances aimed at boosting egos are more abundant than efforts to empathise with the other through active listening, it will be very difficult to create the culture of coming together that the Pope referred to.
From this perspective, sustainability isn’t only an environmental matter. There is also relational sustainability as a collective capacity to build healthy, collaborative, and lasting relationships between people, teams, organisations, and institutions.
4. Bridges also create prosperity
If we observe the organisations and territories with the most progress, we find a common pattern: collaboration and the capacity to create trust and networks for cooperation.
Trust remains the most valuable capital in any society. Therefore mediation is strategic. It not only helps to resolve problems, but it also strengthens bonds and creates environments where cooperation is more profitable than confrontation.
5. Looking after nature is also mediating with the future
There is a deep connection between sustainability and mediation.
Sustainability is a conversation between the present and future that goes beyond the tangible. It is simply about putting value on what we know that we need to preserve for the future. In order for that conversation to work it is necessary to have the same competencies that mediation requires: responsibility, listening, long term vision and the pursuit of the common good. In conclusion, if the current consensus is building bridges, that is indeed one of the most noble, human, and transformative tasks that mediation can offer.

Good oral hygiene and adapting diet are key to recovery after inserting personalised dental implants
This type of implant treatment is used in highly complex cases with advanced bone loss, failure of previous treatments, absence of dental support or specific anatomical conditions, and the aim is to restore correct oral function when therapeutic options are limited
Patients treated by dental and maxillofacial surgeons present highly complex clinical scenarios. In these cases, conventional oral rehabilitation options may be insufficient or unviable. They are cases with advanced bone loss, failure of previous treatments, absence of dental support or anatomical conditions that require a highly specialised surgical approach.
In these scenarios, the usual procedure is to consider ‘personalised implant treatment and rehabilitations designed individually in order to restore oral function in situations where therapeutic options are
usually limited,’ says Doctor Primitivo de la Quintana, head of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar Hospital, the Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital and the Quirónsalud Málaga Hospital. The specialist points out that the treatment begins with a joint assessment by Maxillofacial Surgery and Specialised Dentistry and that each procedure ‘is planned according to the patient’s anatomical, functional and medical characteristics.’
Doctor Primitivo de la Quintana places a particular emphasis on these treatments
taking place ‘in a hospital setting’ and ‘when the clinical complexity requires it, by means of surgery in an operating room under general anaesthetic, allowing greater medical control, surgical precision and safety throughout the procedure.’
After the intervention, treatment continues with a structured clinical follow-up protocol aimed at promoting correct healing and implant integration. This follow-up includes ‘planned postoperative checks, soft-tissue and bone support monitoring, specific oral hygiene guidelines, temporary
dietary adaptation, checking the osseointegration process and periodic reviews to ensure functional stability and longterm maintenance of the rehabilitation undertaken,’ says Doctor De La Quintana.
‘The aim of the treatment is not just to insert implants but also to recover function, oral health and quality of life through highly personalised treatments in patients with complex therapeutic needs,’ says the specialist of the Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar Hospital, the Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital and the Quirónsalud Málaga Hospital.
According to Doctor La Quintana, ‘The possibility of making interventions under sedation, performed by maxillofacial surgeons, provides additional peace of mind, especially in patients with long treatments, dental anxiety, associated pathologies or complete rehabilitations of the entire mouth.’ He adds that ‘The combination of maxillofacial surgeons and specialised dental surgeons working in a coordinated way within a hospital allows us to offer much safer, more personalised treatments tailored to cases that require a very high level of planning and precision.’

Entrevista Interview
JAVIER JIMÉNEZ-CASQUET

“The intention is to have a third edition of the Gasol Foundation Golf Experience”
COMPOSITION: A weekend of lots of emotions after hosting the Gasol Foundation Golf Experience. What does it mean for you to have an event that promotes the battle against childhood obesity?
Javier Jiménez-Casquet: It is a real source of pride for us that someone as important as Pau, through his foundation, has chosen us as the official venue for this tournament and, also, for the second consecutive year.
I believe that the work of the foundation and the values it advocates are very similar to those of any sport, but specifically to those of golf. It is essential to be a loudspeaker for all the young people and children who suffer from these obesity problems. At the closing event of the gala we heard data from the Department of the Regional Government of Andalusia indicating that one in every three children in Andalusia suffers from obesity. I believe that the work of the foundation is essential, teaching values and healthy habits. What could be better than doing so through an outdoor sport like golf? So, we are very proud to be part of such an important event.
Speaking of the number of children who suffer from these problems, do you believe that initiatives like this help to change the perception that golf is a sport that is distanced from social problems?
J.J.: It isn’t only thanks to the golf tournament, it is the mission of the foundation which is essential; doing it through a sport, so even more so. Ultimately, what you are saying is that sport is health and wellness for everyone and, crucially in this case, for children and the battle against childhood obesity. Of course, golf is a sport that is very fashionable, especially in this area. Many families live from golf, enjoy golf, and play golf. So, I believe that it is an idyllic, special environment, and a great loudspeaker to raise awareness of a social problem, that is getting worse, and through these types of events funds are raised to ensure that the work of the foundation can continue. They provided data that more than two hundred thousand children have already been able to enjoy the foundation’s programs. For us, it is of course a pleasure to be a part of that.
And what is it like to work with the foundation and with Pau himself?
J.J.: It is incredible. I think we have all idealised him as an international figure, one of the best sportspeople in the history of Spain, and he seems untouchable and nothing could be further from reality. He is an exceptional, wonderful person, no rudeness, he is friendly and affectionate.
His foundation and entire team have been delightful and we have been very comfortable working
with them. And of course, with Deporte & Business, which in this case was the agency responsible for organising the event alongside the foundation and with us. The truth is that it has been delightful working with them and, we hope
that we can do lots more events together.
The second consecutive year, is there a chance of it being repeated again?
J.J.: It is a real pleasure and source
of pride for us to host Pau and the entire team from his foundation. We are thinking about future editions and, why not? Perhaps a third, fourth, and fifth. Since last year, the intention is for this to last over time.
If we obtain institutional support and backing from sponsors -who I need to thank for their incredible support and work-, there may be a third and, why not, a fourth and fifth.

Entrevista
Director General Real Club Valderrama
Interview
Javier Reviriego on LIV Golf Andalucía 2026: “It
was the best of the four events
held at Valderrama”
The director general of Real Club Valderrama, Javier Reviriego, offered an assessment of LIV Golf Andalucía in El Periódico de Sotogrande after the last edition held at the San Roque course, the first held over four days. Reviriego described this edition as “the best of the four LIV events held at Valderrama” and highlighted both the level of sport and the response from the public and the organisational work carried out
Composition: An historic edition of LIV Golf Andalusia has just ended. What is the view of Valderrama regarding this week at both an organisational and sporting level?
Javier Reviriego: The view is very positive, I think it was undoubtedly the best of the four LIV events held at Valderrama. We had the best players at the top of the ranking during the entire tournament and unbeatable weather. I also think we presented the course in the best conditions I can remember, it is very important for us to offer a good image and receive good feedback from players.
From an organisational perspective, the tournament once again showed the capacity of Valderrama, San Roque, and Andalusia, to host top class international sports events. It was a very demanding week, but also very satisfactory, thanks to the joint work of LIV Golf, the club, the administrations, the suppliers, the volunteers, and the entire operational team. I also want to focus on the great response from the local crowd, especially on Sunday, when we had over 12,600 spectators.
In terms of the sport, Valderrama was Valderrama once again: a course that demands precision, strategy, and patience. Victory by Tyrrell Hatton, with Jon Rahm second, shows that the best players usually end up dominating at Valderrama. We think that the world’s best players feel that winning here has a special value.
After four years hosting this event, in what ways do you think the tournament has progressed most, whether in terms of experience for the crowd, international impact or the level of competition?
J.R.: Progression has been clear
in several areas. Firstly, in the crowd experience. Each edition has incorporated improvements to entrances, hospitality, catering areas, entertainment, services, and general comfort for spectators. The aim has been for fans to enjoy a great week of golf, but also a social and family experience around the tournament.
“Valderrama was Valderrama once again: a course that demands precision, strategy, and patience.”
The international impact has also grown. Valderrama already had a renowned position on the global golf map, but LIV Golf has provided a global platform, with players with enormous international appeal and a more dynamic way of consuming sport.
That multiplies the visibility of Valderrama, Sotogrande and Andalusia.
And, of course, the competitive level has progressed. The presence of players such as Jon Rahm, Sergio García, Tyrrell Hatton, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson and many others means that the tournament had an extraordinary sporting depth.
Over recent months, different debates have emerged regarding the future of professional golf and the possible merging of circuits. From the perspective of Valderrama, how do you view the progress of LIV Golf over the coming years?
J.R.: At Valderrama we view the future of professional golf with interest and with a constructive mentality. It is clear that golf is going through a transformative period and that all the stakeholders in the sector are looking for
formulas that can strengthen the product, increase audiences, and create more opportunities for players, venues, sponsors, and fans.
Within a few years, LIV Golf has shown that it has the ability to attract talent, generate international discussion and offer a different proposal. We believe that its progress will depend on its capacity to continue to consolidate schedules, leading venues, audiences, and links with fans.
From our perspective, what we can say is that Valderrama will always be on the side of whatever contributes to the growth of golf, the prestige of major competitions and the international projection of our sport. Our role is to offer a first-rate setting, with history, sporting demands, and a very clear identity.
Can we now consider Valderrama to be the natural venue for
open conversations about the continuity and future of the tournament in Andalusia?
J.R.: Valderrama is a natural fit for a tournament of these characteristics. Due to its history, sporting rigour, location, organisational experience, and the response of the public, we believe that a very strong relationship has been created between LIV Golf, Andalusia, and Valderrama.
Having said this, in these types of events there are conversations between the different parties involved in order to assess the future and continue to improve. LIV Golf is going through a transformative moment and it will have to adjust its model ahead of next year. Our aim is clear: we would like Valderrama to remain a benchmark for great international golf and for Andalusia to continue to have a starring role on the scene.

Support for breast cancer patients
The Bandera Rosa (Pink Flag) Association is a provincial group that offers support to breast cancer patients and family members, offering support, not only at a medical and emotional level, but also in a comprehensive way across different areas.
Its objectives include helping those affected to feel more accompanied, informed, and supported, and also providing tools that help to tackle situations that go beyond a strictly healthcare field, facilitating integration into daily life. The association also works to promote social, cultural, and institutional changes that help to provide visibility and tackle breast cancer, with the aim of patients and family members
being able to “fly their own victory flag.”
In addition to benefitting from the money raised from the Charity Walk of the San Roque
Hill Cross, Bandera Rosa regularly takes part in other events and activities, such as retreats,
workshops, and fun runs in different places, and it has a charity store.
Much more than golf: inclusion and self-improvement at La Cañada
The club’s adaptive golf school, a leader in Andalusia since 2007, has been showing for years that sport is a powerful tool for integration and personal growth, with more than 70 students attending weekly.
At La Cañada, golf is much more than just competition, technique or results. For years, the club has been a space where sport opens doors, breaks down barriers and creates opportunities for dozens of people for whom every training session is an opportunity to grow.
Considered a leader in adaptive golf, in 2007 La Cañada Golf
Club was a pioneer when it set up a specific school that now brings together more than 70 students who participate in its activities every week. A consolidated project that places the club among the seven recognised adaptive golf schools in Andalusia.
Behind every class there is much more than learning a
sport. There’s companionship and excitement. Because for many participants, the golf course becomes a place where they discover new skills, gain autonomy and strengthen personal ties.
The school develops training programs adapted to the needs of each student, led by specialised professionals who work to make golf an accessible, enriching and motivating experience for all.
Over this time, the initiatives run by La Cañada have involved some 200 participants a year, coming from organisations like Asansull, Apadis and Fegadi, consolidating a social project
that transcends sport and makes the club an example to follow in Andalusia and further afield.
‘Happiness
in the sport does not depend on the result, but on the excitement and passion that you put into playing it.’
Every week, La Cañada proves that sport has the ability to transform lives. There, every shot, every smile and every breakthrough tell a story of
effort and self-improvement.
At El Periódico de Sotogrande we also wanted to hear the thoughts of the people who work with these students every week: the school’s instructors and the club director Agustín Alonso. Remembering the early years of the project, they admit that what surprised them most was ‘the incredible ability to adapt that the students have, their familiarity, their humanity and the joy they give off.’ A constant lesson for those who work with them and one, they say, that continues to inspire them almost two decades later. Asked about what La Cañada represents for the participants, the answer is unanimous: it’s much more than just a place where they learn to play golf. For many of them, it’s chance to switch off from their routines, an outdoor space where they can have fun, make new friends and interact with students from other associations. ‘On Wednesdays they can’t wait for the transport to come. They share experiences, have a social life and enjoy the sport here,’ they explain.
Likewise, the project never stops looking to the future. The coming challenges include continuing to transmit excitement and joy through playing sport, without giving up on new goals. The school does not rule out some of the players who are excelling could take part in tournaments on the Andalusian adaptive golf circuit, taking a step further in their development as golfers.
Since its creation, and thanks to the rotation of users from different organisations, it is estimated that around 3,800 people have passed through the programme, a figure that illustrates the social impact of this pioneering initiative.
And if we had to summarise in a single sentence what adaptive golf offers to those involved in this project, the reflection of the people running the programme sums it up perfectly: ‘Happiness in the sport does not depend on the result, but on the excitement and passion that you put into playing it.’
La Cañada Golf makes history: 17 students will compete
in National Championship
The most important tournament on the calendar for young national golfing hopefuls is about to hit the opening drive. From 26 to 28 June 2026, Real Club de Golf La Manga (Murcia) will host the National U-14, U-12, and U-10 Championship, organised by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG). La Cañada Golf Club is attending with the largest Andalusian delegation.
An historic record
This year, La Cañada Golf will take 17 students who have managed to qualify for this very demanding event — with some just missing out—, as the leading Andalusian
club with so much representation and the second most in all of Spain.
A spectacular figure that is etched in the history of the club, due to the fact that it is the first time that so many students are going to compete in this tournament. “This is the year that we have taken most students and, in fact, some just missed out” proudly notes Sonia, a coach from the school.
A result that stems from the work of the students and teachers from the municipal school, with an academy that boasts major titles during the year and a philosophy of growth and effort.
La Cañada and its academy
Talking about La Cañada Municipal School means talking about an academy with a name and prestige. Its facilities have produced great golf players such as Álvaro Quirós, María Parra, Raúl Quirós, Ángel Ayora and Mario Galiano. At present, they have 250 children and the recognition of the Andalusian Federation due to their high level of competition.
Taking 17 players to Murcia isn’t simply a number, it means showing the effort of the little ones, teachers, and the course itself to continue improving each year. Undoubtedly, it will be a memorable tournament for all the children.
