TEST ACCOMMODATIONS: MAP AND MAP FOR PRIMARY GRADES
MAP Accommodations:
The adaptive nature of MAP assessments makes them appropriate assessments for students with a wide range of skills and achievement levels. Allowable non-embedded accommodations are listed in the table. These accommodations impact neither the validity nor the alignment of the assessments; they do not provide assistance in understanding or solving test items. Any and all special program students who are administered MAP Growth assessments using one or more of the accommodations listed below are subjected to the same reporting specifications as regular education students. While NWEA does not place restrictions on which accommodations can be used, the Leadership & Innovation department in collaboration with SPED, 504, Bilingual and Dyslexia encourage staff to provide minimal accommodations in order to gain a RIT score that reflects the student’s true instructional level where no assistance is needed. At minimum, any accommodation should be as consistent as possible with those given in the classroom not necessarily those provided during STAAR testing. The following table provides examples of allowed accommodations.

SPED and Emergent Bilingual Students
◼ EB student accommodations need to be documented by the LPAC committee. For
BOY MAP test, there should not be any accommodations provided to EB students unless they have been documented by the
LPAC. Exceptions to this would be an EB student whose accommodations have been set forth by another committee (i.e. 504, ARD). ◼ SPED - NWEA MAP Math Assessment is designated for students to take without a calculator. The availability of a calculator is part of an item’s difficulty; therefore, the embedded calculator will be sufficient in providing students their needed accommodation.
