Nonpro ts plan for potentially deep cuts By Dan Nakaso Posted August 24, 2017 August 24, 2017 The Hawaii Community Foundation today will bring together more than 200 island nonpro t organizations to prepare for potentially devastating cuts in federal funding under the Trump administration. “These are not budget cuts as usual,” said Nick Johnson, senior vice president for state scal policy for the Washington, D.C.-based Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, who will outline the rami cations on Hawaii nonpro ts at the daylong gathering at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. “The last eight months (of the Trump administration) have really been a wake-up call. These are deep structural changes that are being proposed at the federal level that would in fact send shock waves through the ability of nonpro ts and states and communities to provide crucial services in health care, education and human services — the things that nonpro ts play a big role in providing.”
