STORY TIME: Alice and the Hidden Forest Shelter One cool November afternoon, Alice and her friends set off for a trail ride through the colourful forest. Golden leaves crunched beneath their hooves as they followed a winding path between towering cedar trees. Suddenly, dark clouds rolled overhead. "Uh oh," said Oliver. "That looks like rain." The riders quickened their pace, but before they reached the barn, raindrops began to fall. Soon the gentle shower turned into a steady downpour. "We need a place to wait out the rain," said Coach Sally. Alice remembered spotting something unusual along the trail earlier that day. "This way!" she whinnied. The group followed Alice down a side path to an old wooden shelter tucked beneath the trees. Everyone crowded inside while the rain drummed on the roof. As they waited, they listened to the sounds of the forest and shared stories about their favourite autumn adventures. Before long, the clouds began to clear. A beautiful rainbow stretched across the sky. The riders cheered, and Alice proudly led everyone safely back to the barn. "Good thinking, Alice," said Coach Sally. Alice smiled. Sometimes the best adventures happen when plans change.

ACTIVITY OF THE MONTH: WORD SCRAMBLE

HORSEY FACTS OF THE MONTH GETTING READY FOR WINTER

❄️ Horses grow thicker winter coats to help stay warm. 🧹 Regular grooming helps remove dirt and keeps coats healthy. 💧 Horses need plenty of fresh water even when temperatures drop. 🌾 Many horses eat more hay during cold weather because digesting hay helps create body heat. 👣 Slippery ground can make walking more challenging, so riders should always use extra caution.

🏠 Shelters help horses stay comfortable during wind, rain, and snow. 🍁 Daily turnout and exercise remain important during the colder months. BONUS FACT

🐴 Haflingers were bred to handle cold mountain weather and are known for being hardy horses.
