Hi kids,
Remember how last issue I said, “April showers bring May flowers”?
Well... surprise! April showers bring May SUPERPOWERS!
This month’s edition of the Pony Tails Kids Club digital magazine is all about superheroes and superhorses. I believe my readers have the power to achieve anything they want, and I hope this issue encourages you to recognize your own unique and special abilities.
Because, at the end of the day... there is nothing more heroic than being yourself.

Horse/Pony Breed of the Month:
CASPIAN
The Caspian is an Iranian breed with a rich ancient history. This small, sturdy, and athletic horse is well-suited to the mountainous terrain from which they originated from. Due to their performance characteristics, horse-like comformation, inviting size, and lovely demeanor, they make an excellent riding partner for youth. Despite conservation efforts, Caspians are considered critically endangered.

Alice to the Rescue
“It’s a bird, it’s a plane it’s Alice the Superpony!”
The town’s citizens were no stranger to this phrase Every time there was a bad guy to catch, innocent people to save, or wrongs to right, Alice the Superpony came swooping in to save the day. Between her ability to fly and her super strength, no mission was ever too dangerous for the courageous mare She was really something of a hometown hero in the local community. In her downtime, Alice found herself signing her hoofprint on autographs and posters, which children displayed proudly on their bedroom walls They depicted images of her standing tall and confident on all fours, her cape with the letter “A” billowing in the wind. “I wanna be just like you when I grow up!” the children would declare, admiring her for her immense bravery
But something was gnawing away at Alice She had no problem chasing after thieves, or helping cats stuck high up in trees Every time she was called to the rescue, she always came swiftly. Alice wasn’t afraid to do what it took to keep the people of the town out of harm’s way
But even then she was scared
Not of things like bad guys or runaway trains. She was scared that, without her powers, none of the citizens would think of her the same way They had grown to love Alice the Superpony... but could they love regular old Alice? She wasn’t so sure.
One day, Alice’s worst nightmare came true She woke up early like she would on any other day... only to find her powers had vanished overnight. Realizing what this meant, she stood in front of the mirror and wept “If I can’t fly or lift remarkably heavy things, what will the world think of me now?” Alas, Alice would have to tell everyone she could no longer be their hero
Later that day, Alice called a meeting at the town hall. Thousands of people showed up, eagerly anticipating what their idol would have to say With great sadness, Alice nickered to clear her throat and addressed her beloved fans. “To my dear townspeople,” she began, “it is with utmost disappointment that I must let you know I am no longer the Superpony that you need” Gasps were heard from all over the crowd. “I have woken up to discover my powers of super speed and strength to be missing I regret to inform you that I’m no hero after all”
With a sigh, Alice turned her muzzle away from the microphone and stepped away from the podium But before she could leave, one of the meeting attendees piped up “Wait Alice!” a young man urged, “Just because you don’t have powers doesn’t mean you ’ re not a hero!” Alice blinked in confusion “Well, yeah it does” she argued “I can’t really be a superpony without superpowers. ”
“That’s not true!” contested another bystander “You’re not a superpony because of your special abilities, Alice. You’re a superpony because you ’ re you. You put other people and animals before yourself, stay calm in stressful situations, and display such incredible bravery Above all, you are the kindest pony in the world Powers or not, you mean the world to everyone here.” She turned and addressed the entire group. “Right guys?”
The whole building erupted with cheers for Alice It turns out that she had no need to fear at all - because what really made her a hero was remaining true to herself Alice stepped into the crowd and allowed them to swarm her with pats and praise. It felt good to be loved for who she was
After that day, Alice continued her superpony duties of protecting the town with no interruption It turns out it really wasn’t her speed and strength that made her a hero Rather, it was her ability to show up and be the amazing pony that everyone needed... just by being her

EQUINE SUPERPOWERS
Super Speed
Horses can gallop up to 40-50km an hour, with the world’s fastest horse flying by at 70km an hour. Talk about gone in a flash!
Super Strength
Horses can carry up to 20% of their bodyweight - and depending on their conformation, some breeds can carry even more! Based on this and the size of the horse, that’s anywhere from 200-350+ pounds!
Super Senses
Horses have impeccable sensitivity in their five senses. They have near-panoramic vision, can detect sounds beyond human hearing, can identify two different smells at the same time, and have highly adapted touch receptors on their whiskers (vibrissae).
