HCA Joins Amicus Brief in 24-Hour/Live-in Court Appeal HCA, the New York State Association of Health Care Providers (HCP) and the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) joined together to file an amicus brief on October 13 to support the appeal effort in the Tokhtaman v. Human Care, LLC case, which has ongoing implications for the cost obligations of 24-hour/”live-in” home care cases. Amicus briefs are submitted by persons or groups that are not parties to the legal action but have a strong interest in the matter and are petitioning the court to state their position. See BRIEF p. 4

Call, Write Congress to Stop Disastrous HHGM Legislation On October 6, HCA sent you a special, early edition of The Situation Report with breaking news about a disastrous bill making its way through Congress to codify the Home Health Groupings Model (HHGM) – and its home care payment cuts – legislatively. We followed up last week with an alert asking you to immediately contact your member of Congress, especially if that Representative serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, to stop this bill, which is moving very quickly through the Committee. See HHGM p. 2
