State Budget Pressure Builds as Deadline Nears: Your Advocacy Vital! Despite many hours-long budget talks in recent days – including three-way meetings that proceeded well into pre-dawn this morning – few precise issue updates are known at this point from negotiations being held on a near-constant basis among Legislative and Executive offices in Albany. A new state budget is due in one week; so, the pressure builds with each passing day. It is expected that each of the individual budget conference subcommittees should soon be reporting back to the general conference committee for the budget, known colloquially as “the mothership,” at which point many of the core issues will have been settled.
