It’s hard to believe 2021 has already come to an end.

What a wild end to the year with the tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings in December! Our thoughts are with those in Kentucky and Tennessee.

I hope everyone had safe and enjoyable holidays with their families this year.

If you haven’t already signed up for a booth in the Home & Garden Show, February 11-13 at the Lancaster Event Center, I encourage you to sign up today. The 2021 Show was well attended and those who visited the show were interested in starting a project soon.

This is a great way to find potential clients.

The 2022 Installation of Officers and Directors will be February 1. Hope to see you there!

Our mission has always been to help our service members, veterans and their families with community involvement. The biggest way we accomplish that is by showcasing the organizations and businesses who already serve our heroes. We certainly hope your organization feels this was a successful event for you. It would be our honor to have you join us again November 13th for the 2022 Lincoln Veterans Parade. This year we will focus on the proud women veterans. They are the few, but they are mighty.

This month I’ll be passing on my presidential duties to Blake Pittack with Blake Builders. Blake is a Sam Swartz great guy and I know YBP YBP President will be in good hands with him leading the group. In 2022, YBP will give our members an opportunity to meet with HBAL board members and get a behind-the-scenes look at the Association. Many times I've heard people say they had no idea all that HBAL does until they got on the board. This is your chance to find out!

There will be three YBP lunches immediately following an HBAL board meeting, the first being March 3. I encourage you to get involved, not just with YBP, but HBAL as well. Happy Happy 2022! I am thrilled to be this year’s chairperson. I want to thank Sue Eaton for a wonderful year leading the Remodeler's Council here’s to another great one!

Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions Tim Zeng personal or professional? Remodelers Council One of my goals is to Chairperson increase awareness in the community about the Remodeler’s Council.

I’d like to see members of HBAL refer to our group for support and help people in the Lincoln area gain a better understanding of what we do and why we support each other.

The Home & Garden Show is coming up.

There are two main things we stick by to make sure we provide the best Zeng Granite Experience for every Home and Garden Show visitor. First, we always like to get a double booth to allow our materials and people to be spread out. Secondly, we make our space as inviting as we can, arranging tables around the perimeter with a square of carpet in the center to make the area feel more cozy and inviting. The area should be comfortable for our employees as well as attendees, which allows conversations to flow naturally. We always have such a wonderful time talking with the attendees and being at the event. We hope to see you there!

December Board Report

December Board Report

The following is a summary of the HBAL Board of Directors meeting held on December 9: Remodelers Council: 34 people attended the Remodelers Council Holiday Party on December 1 at Sun Valley Lanes’ newly renovated facility. Next meeting will be January 12 at Handy Man Home Remodeling Center.

Remodelers will be collecting food for the Food Bank at the Home Show.

Young Building Professionals: The YBP Holiday Party is planned for January 28 at Rosie’s Sports Bar and Grill – open to all members. Blake Pittack will take over as YBP President and Andrew Schellpeper will be vice president. The Car Show committee has been meeting and working to finalize details for the May 1 event.

PlanForward 2050: Ann Post provided HBAL’s comments to City Council about pros and cons in the Plan; however, the Council did not make changes to the plan and passed the plan as it was proposed by the City.

LTU Driveway Maximum Width: Lincoln Municipal Code has always included a 20’ maximum width of driveways at the property line. Maximum width is now being enforced when permits are approved

by Plan Review. Several members met with LTU on Wednesday, December 8 to discuss the possibility of increasing the maximum width. If they approve the change it will take several months as it needs Council approval to change the code.

33rd & Cornhusker: The RTSD is having an open house for the latest recommended plan for the 33rd & Cornhusker project. The link to view the project online is 33rdcornhusker.com.

Comments are due by January 3.

Careers in Construction: Jereme Montgomery is working on the 2022 Career fair. Looking to change the date to April 20.
