WHAT'S AHEAD IN THE 2026 PARADE OF HOMES

The 2026 Parade of Homes is shaping up to be an exciting and diverse tour, offering inspiration for homeowners, design lovers, and building enthusiasts alike. Each year, the Parade showcases the very best of our local building industry, and 2026 is no exception. From innovative architectural details and thoughtful layouts to high-quality craftsmanship and forward-thinking design, this year’s homes reflect the creativity, expertise, and pride that define our building community.

Visitors can expect a wide range of home styles and experiences throughout the tour. The 2026 Parade features a blend of traditional favorites alongside bold, one-of-a-kind designs that push boundaries while remaining livable and functional.

Among the most unique entries is a striking A-frame cabin that blends modern comfort with timeless architectural appeal. This cabin is one of two thoughtfully designed cabins featured in the Parade at Calyx Creek Lavender & Lodging.

Reflect Community

Throughout the Parade, homes will showcase creative uses of space, intentional floor plans, and details that elevate everyday living. Open-concept gathering areas, private retreats, flexible bonus spaces, and seamless indoor-outdoor connections are recurring themes that reflect the evolving needs of homeowners. Whether visitors are drawn to classic designs or contemporary statements, the Parade offers a thoughtful balance of inspiration across styles and budgets.

HANDS-ON LEARNING, LASTING IMPACT

One of the most meaningful highlights of the 2026 Parade of Homes is the inclusion of the 2025–2026 Iowa City Community School District Student-Built Home Project, led by Sueppel’s Building & Remodeling and instructor Vince Roth. Now entering its third year, this project showcases the Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association’s commitment to workforce development and the future of the building trades.

OF HOMES CONT.

The student-built home provides handson learning opportunities for students interested in construction, design, and the skilled trades, guided by industry professionals and classroom instruction. Visitors to the Parade will have the opportunity to see the project come to life during the June Parade of Homes and experience firsthand how education and industry collaboration—under the leadership of educators like Roth— are helping shape the next generation of builders. Beyond technical skills, the project emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and real-world problem solving, all of which are essential to the long-term strength of our local building industry.

BUILT FOR OUR COMMUNITY

From first-time attendees to longtime Parade fans, the 2026 Parade of Homes promises something new to discover at every stop. Whether you’re actively planning a build, considering a remodel, or simply dreaming about what’s possible, the Parade offers practical inspiration you can apply to projects of any size. It’s an opportunity to explore, learn, and connect—making the 2026 Parade of Homes a must-see event for anyone who loves homes, design, and the future of our local communities.

Investing in the Next Generation

HOW THE PROFESSIONAL WOMEN IN BUILDING COUNCIL

SUPPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS YEAR-ROUND

The Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council of the Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association is dedicated to strengthening the future of the building industry by investing in education, opportunity, and the next generation of skilled professionals. Throughout the year, PWB members work collaboratively to raise scholarship funds that support students pursuing careers in the building trades, construction management, design, and related fields.

In addition to fundraising, the council actively encourages women to explore careers in construction and the building industry, helping create meaningful pathways for professional growth and long-term success. Through education, networking, and community engagement, PWB promotes awareness of the diverse opportunities available while supporting the development of future industry leaders.

Photo: PWB Members selling raffle tickets at the 2025 Clay Shoot

At the 2025 Home & Garden Show, the Professional Women in Building Council hosted a floral fundraiser in support of its Scholarship Program. Thanks to a generous flower donation from Lowe’s and the support of Home Show attendees, PWB raised $1,500 to fund local scholarships. Building on the success of last year’s fundraiser, PWB will host a 50/50 raffle at this year’s Home Show to continue raising funds in support of local students pursuing careers in the building industry.

PWB’s fundraising efforts span a variety of events held throughout the year, all thoughtfully planned to maximize impact and support meaningful outcomes. In 2025, these efforts included raffles at HBA events, a successful silent auction at the Holiday Party, a “Hit One, Win One” game at the annual Golf Outing, and a floral sale held during the Home Show at the fairgrounds. Each initiative plays a vital role in supporting the council’s scholarship program and advancing its mission.

PWB Council Back Row L to R: Amy Schuerer, Kelly Manning, Lisa Fountain, Victoria Upah, Debbie Reynolds, Michelle Provorse, Karyl Bohnsack, Kenzie Hein, Erin Batten, Front Row L to R: Lorrain Bowans, Jennie Wunderlich, Lexi Mendoza, Barb Messer, Dawn Rassmussen, Ali Salow

These collective efforts result in scholarships awarded annually to deserving students who demonstrate dedication, passion, and a strong interest in the building industry. Many recipients are enrolled in trade programs, technical education, or construction-related degree programs—helping address workforce needs while preparing students for rewarding, long-term careers.

Beyond fundraising, PWB members also serve as mentors and advocates, sharing industry knowledge, offering guidance, and promoting awareness of the wide range of career opportunities within home building and construction. The council’s work reflects a shared belief that investing in education today helps ensure a stronger, more skilled industry tomorrow. Thanks to the continued generosity of sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community supporters, the PWB Scholarship Program continues to grow each year.
