Hazlegrove Headlines Bringing the wider Hazlegrove community up to date with recent events...

This term was packed full of trips...

...including Year 7’s residential trip to the River Dart Country Park and Year 5’s residential trip to Naturesbase Environmental Centre. Year 4 explored Ufton Court to learn about the Tudors, whilst Year 3 visited New Barn to discover more about the Romans.

Maths in Outer Space week blasts off!

All classes from Years 3 to 7 were set an array of fun maths projects and investigations designed to inspire the children with amazing and captivating maths beyond the limits of our atmosphere.

The library was abuzz with children celebrating reading 1 million words this term. Seven are double millionaires and two are triple millionaires.

Film Producer Guy de Beaujeu...

Art Scholars’ Sculpture Workshop

...visited Year 5 to give a fantastic presentation about his films to tie in with the children’s World War One topic. Guy showed snippets of ‘Journey’s End’ and the props used on set.

Artist James Ort visited Hazlegrove to host a sculpture workshop with our Art scholars. Each scholar created a human figure from wire which are now proudly displayed as one outdoor sculpture visible from the Art room.

International Day of Languages

Hazlegrove General Election

Hazlegrove turned into a multilingual melting pot for the day as the children took part in language-themed activities including learning Arabic, de-coding Ancient scripts, a Translation Treasure Hunt and a French-themed lunch.

Hazlegrove held its very own election with some children choosing to represent political parties.

Hustings and debates took place before everyone went to the polls.

The boarders have kept busy this term with trips to... Lyme Regis, Wookey Hole, Stourhead, and the Fleet Air Arm Museum. As well as the trips, our boarders have relaxed and recharged with friends back at Hazlegrove.

U11 Boys’ Regional IAPS Rugby Festival at Sherborne School.

U12 Girls play in National IAPS Hockey Finals at Rugby School.

Lots of individual and team medals won at South West Schools

29 top 20 finishes at Cross Country District Trials with

Biathlon Finals.

qualification to the Somerset County Championships in January.

National Champions at the NSEA Show Jumping Finals at

Addington against 45 other school teams.

International Honours in Laser Run, Triathle and Riding.

Both U9 Girls’ Hockey Teams won their respective tournaments at Hazlegrove.

U13 Girls 3rd in National IAPS Hockey Finals Plate after previously qualifying.

The Friends’ Fireworks Night was one to remember...
