Mandarin Common Entrance Certificates for Year 6
Hazlegrove Year 6 pupils were amongst the first to be awarded the new Common Entrance Mandarin qualification with 34 of the 44 pupils sitting the exam achieving As or A*s, averaging an impressive 79%.

Hooray for Hollywood! gave our Year 8 leavers
so many opportunities to perform. This exciting production had 19 children singing solos, 21 with acting roles, 15 in dance routines and 20 carrying out production tasks.
Saturday evening barbeques
Shipwrecked on a desert island, Year 5 provided their own entertainment
re-enacting the traditional tales of Thor’s Hammer, Pandora’s box and the Maori creation story whilst waiting to be rescued.
A total of 10 concerts were
enjoyed this term including a Joint Schools Concert with King’s Bruton, a Pre-Prep Concert, a Charity Concert for Nepal and the Year 8 Soloists’ Concert a fitting tribute to the musical talents of our leavers before they head off to their senior schools.
Congratulations to our Year 8 Scholars on achieving 27 Scholarships and 4 Awards to 14 different senior schools - very well done everyone!
A fantastic French Fair
was organised by 8S as one of their post academic scholarship challenges. Attractions included a slow bicycle race, a French cafe and a grisly guillotine for those failing the vocabulary test!
Forensic science was the order of the day for Year 6 at @Bristol Science Museum. They learnt all sorts of tricks of the trade used by CSI officers in their attempts to obtain evidence to incriminate criminals.
Election fever hit Hazlegrove in
May when five parties campaigned hard to win votes. The turnout on the day was excellent with 98% of pupils voting. The result - a landslide victory for the Defenders of Britain Party.

Congratulations to the U13 cricket girls on retaining the title of Lady Taverner’s National U13 Indoor Cricket Champions - a fantastic achievement.

Thirty-one school records broken in athletics. It has been a
very high-achieving athletics season. Successes have included 12 South West Prep Schools Champions, 7 Junior County Champions, Year 4,5 and 6 Monkton Festival Winners, Year 5 and 7 King’s Bruton Festival Winners, 23 children qualifying for the National Prep Schools Championships with three podium finishes at the championships in Year 8 girls’ 300m and 800m and Year 6 boys’ hurdles.
Congratulations to the 21 girls who scored 5 or more rounders in a match and to the U10 girls on being runners up at the Millfield Tournament.
National Schools Biathle with some great results including Year 7, Year 6 and Year 4 boys taking team honours.
A fantastic ski season for
Michael winning the 3 Cities Cup U13 Giant Slalom and the U16 Wildschonau biathlon (skiing and shooting).

Success for the intrepid hikers on the Exmoor Challenge. Well done to the sixteen children who all successfully completed the challenge despite unfavourable weather conditions. Congratulations go to the mixed team for winning their category and for the boys’ team who came 2nd in theirs.

Two South West RIBA awards for Fitzjames.
Architects Fielden Fowles gained an award for the design of our new teaching centre and Hazlegrove was awarded Client of the Year, recognising the collaboration between the architects and the school.
