Festival of Literature This was a huge success. The children welcomed authors and illustrators throughout the course of the week for fascinating talks and workshops. Inspired by these encounters, the children are now reading books they may not have previously considered. The Kids’ Lit Quiz was much enjoyed by all who took part.

Years 3 and 4 delighted audiences with their musical based on the traditional tale of Hansel and Gretel.
Dancing to the Music of The Johnsons after the Easter Feast
Year 6 triumphed with “100 Years of Broadway”, singing and dancing to well known show tunes from the early days of Tin Pan Alley to the contemporary musicals of today.
Out and about...
History has been brought to life in a number of ways... Year 4 Victorian Day
Year 7 pupils enjoyed learning about the Bloodhound land speed record project. The budding engineers pictured above won the Kinex car construction challenge.
King’s Bruton kindly paid host to Year 6 for a hands-on afternoon of science.
Year 5 embarked on an artistic adventure to the Hauser and Wirth Gallery in Bruton.
Hazlegrove boys’ teams came first and second in the Bryanston Maths Challenge, well done!

workshops saw Year 6 create two beautiful deer under the guidance of local artist Charlotte Morton. These can now be seen on display by the Fitzjames building.

Another great term of sport with U11 boys taking 2nd place in the National IAPS Championships...
Yet again, the Hazlegrove children can all be proud of their achievements. They have enjoyed some fantastic sport on the hockey and netball pitches and whilst cross-country running this term. It is very encouraging to see the netball posts being so well used at break times too. Well done everyone. Particular congratulations go to all those who have achieved successes, just some of whom are pictured below.
Harambee fund raising efforts
have been tremendous with a Karate Club tournament, cycling and even a sponsored silence raising £900 in total!
Martin Bell delivered the John McCarthy Lecture raising £358 for Freedom From Torture.
U11 hockey boys are South West Regional Champions and National Runners Up
U13 boys were runners up at the South East IAPS Regional Hockey Qualifier
The local Air Ambulance
received over £300 from the Mufti Day held on Bonfire Night. Runners up at the U11b All Hallows Netball Tournament
Runners up at the U13b Millfield Netball Tournament
Year 5 girls, Year 8 boys and Year 8 girls all won team silver medals at the Clayesmore Relays
Author Lauren Child was
delighted to receive £300 for her chosen charity “Kids’ Company”.
Speech and Drama Showcase Evening.
From Shakespeare’s Juliet to Roald Dahl’s Mr and Mrs Twit, a packed theatre was treated to twenty-six polished and confident performances from the Speech and Drama pupils.
