Electives AUTUMN 2 2026
Welcome to the Hazelwood Autumn 2 Electives! Friday afternoons at Hazelwood give Year 7 and Year 8 children a chance to explore their interests, discover new talents, and try something different. From developing practical skills to taking on creative challenges, our electives offer opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. This booklet introduces the Autumn 2 activities, organised into five strands to help children explore their options. Each poster explains what the activity involves, who will lead it, and whether there is an additional cost. A special elective for Year 7 All Year 7 children will take part in Unpacking Food with Dr Kerr this half-term. This will occupy one of their two elective periods, leaving the other for an activity of their choice. You can find out more on the dedicated poster page. Making your choices We encourage children and parents to review the booklet together and discuss the opportunities before making their selections. Children will select four activities in order of preference, from first to fourth. Year 7 children will choose for their remaining elective period, while Year 8 children will choose for both periods. If an activity has an additional cost, parents must agree to it before selecting it. We will do our best to match children with their preferred activities, so please make sure all four choices are ones they would be happy to attend. We hope you enjoy exploring the options together. Perhaps this half-term is a chance to discover a new interest, develop a hidden talent, or simply try something you have never done before!
