▷ It houses the Public Information Library, Musee National d'Art Moderne, and IRCAM ▷ The different systems on the exterior of the building are painted different colors to distinguish their different roles. ▷ The building itself occupies half of its land with the purpose of serving as a public plaza. ▷ It has glazed tunnels and escalators that provide people with views of Paris.

BUILDING ENVELOPE

DAYLIGHT The “back of the building’ is facing the busy street while showing the front with all the exposed systems. This does not let a lot of daylight into the building, just minimal into certain spaces.

Allowing for most of the daylight in the plaza area.

SURROUNDINGS The building occupies only half of its land which was purposedly made so it feels as a building for the people and the city itself.

Half of the land leaves enough space for the neighbor buildings to not have much daylight taken away.

BUILDING ENVELOPE

SHADING

The building posseses a double functional element wrapping around it. The extruded floors act as shading devices as well.

MAJOR DAYLIGHT SPACES

The most daylit elements on the facade of the building are the tunnels followed by the spaces behnid the glazing side.

ADAPTIVE LOUVERS

When some exhibitions require special shielding, the adaptive louvers can be adjusted to a desired considtion.
