Curriculum and Instruction Action Items For MS Principals and ICs, With the extensive lesson planning required for Desmos this first year, we have added two additional “Just in Time” dates per grade level that are dedicated solely instructional planning. Teachers will have the entire day to unpack TEKS, review STAAR assessment items, and preview Desmos lessons slide by slide. This cross-campus collaborative planning went very well earlier this month and the teachers all requested additional planning time to fully review the Desmos models and strategies. These sessions are not required but highly recommended for teachers pending Principal approval. ○ ○ ○

Texas Core In an effort to increase the number of students who enroll in advanced academic courses, Hays CISD is beginning an awareness campaign in regard to the Texas Core. The Texas Core Refers to 42 hours of college coursework considered to be the core of curriculum for associate’s and bachelor’s degrees at any state college or university in Texas. Digital Learning Action Items The technology department has started pushing out updates for Windows desktops and laptops through our KACE system. If your computer needs an update, you will get a notification like the one below. You have the option to Snooze. The first Snooze will give you 60 minutes. The second Snooze will give you 480 more minutes. Technology updates are pushed out during the night, starting at midnight. You need to make sure you restart your computer in the afternoon, but do not shut it down. You will only get this notification if your computer doesn't get the needed updates. Informational Items
Google Chrome Tip: Create a folder on your bookmark bar for the important websites you might open all at once. Bookmark those websites into that folder, and when you open your browser, you can open all of those tabs at once! Simply right click on the folder and select “Open all in new window”!
